One of the things i miss from the 'old internet' is the sensation that everysite was kind of an island, isolated from the rest of the world. Probably irc resembles this more than anything, every channel having their own rules, users, etc. Now everything is too packet: big forums, youtube channels with thousands of views and people sharing one opinion, wikis with all the information you could dream, leaving no space for rumors and whatnots.
Anyway, post your favourite vr page

Still can't believe this site is still up, and anime web turnpike.
>is the sensation that everysite was kind of an island
That's just because pre social media internet had an irl you and an online you. Now it's just social media shit everywhere and irl life is online life.

Well put. The "wild west" days of the internet really were the best.
BUILD ENGINE GENERAL
Shitpost here about your favorite build engine games like Tekwar and Witchaven. Post cool mods, worship Ken Silverman, discuss how blood is the greatest fps of all time whatever.
Useful site for anyone that might want to try mapping or making a mod for any of the build engine games. Tons of useful resources, tutorials, maps, mods, patches and tools for all build engine games.

Here is the file section with downloads for all build games.

Decided to play powerslave/exhumed after getting the mouse patch for some decent controls. I think its equally as good as the saturn/playstation version cause it might not have as much adventure elements it has much tighter action. The mummy staff is also super badass.
There is already a Blood thread, a Shadow Warrior general thread and a Powerslave thread.... not that I'm complaining because Build is a passion for me, but this sounds more like a thinly veilded RTCM advertisement thread.

I love the DOS one so much. I love the lives system, which is a great change of pace compared to other FPS of the time where savescumming is allowed. It adds tension to gameplay and dying matters, while remaining balanced.
My main complains for the game are: no difficulty settings...

Nah I just wanted to get all of those threads into one so we can all be bros together. I made the powerslave thread and I am just going to let it die.
Unrelated not these are easily my favorite enemies in blood. too spooky

How the fucking fuck do you do that shit
I can't replicate anything
What the fuck
The jump at 1:20 I can practice for 3 weeks and I won't be able to do it
These guys are literally the best players in the world; there is a point where practice just isn't enough.

speedrunners play these games and levels like autists, every single day, over and over again. the runner(s) making that jump probably has like 1000 hours on that level alone, no exaggeration.
despite its (critical) flaws, this is the only Castlevania truly worth a damn.
best music
best atmosphere
unique ambitious concept
if it wasnt for a couple critical flaws...wouldve been a HOF game
>>3291621
>the only Castlevania truly worth a damn.
You took it way too far, Anon. It's just an "NES 2" comparable to Zelda 2 and SMB2USA
I didn't have any complaints about CV2, aside from typical shit localization quality that plagued damn near every NES game ever released outside of Japan. The Famicom version is pretty awesome though.
Simon's Quest is my favorite Castlevania game, but it's not like there aren't other good ones.
Are these worth playing?

aren't they in japanese?

No.

Sure, if you enjoy overrated non-games.
So, Britfags, I'm curious as to your whole perception of the retrogaming past. In 'Murrica we were all hot for Nintendo and the like, with the C64, the Spectrum, and other computers being more of a footnote. Do you chaps feel underrepresented? When you look at the past and see all the Nintendo retrojerking going on, does it make you feel a trifle disenfranchised? Enlighten a curious murricafag here.
Also, if there are any Russiafags I'd also be interested in hearing about shitty soviet games because I find that topic entertaining.

Uh...
Ameritards continue to crow on and on to this day about "The Great Video Game Crash of '83".
There was no such fucking thing.
All that happened was the American game market collapsed due to spastication. The rest of the world was just fine and kept on gaming.
The gaming scene in Europe back then reminds me so much of the indie scene today - with loners literally coding games in their bedroom.
There was a fucking ton of shite. But there was also so much goodness. And during the Spectrum/C64 days, it was cheap as fuck anyway so you never...

Silly Britfag.
Is it better than OoT and MM?
>>3290309
Don't know, never played it myself.
I think yes. I never liked the 3d zeldas, they're kind of a gimmick in my opinion. Still great games, but 3d doesn't add too much. The puzzle elements in the 2d games are just as in depth and offer just as much, and the gameplay is just as solid.
>>3290309
Yes.
What are some retro games that have a Moebius look to them?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Giraud (for those who don't know who I'm talking about)
Pic obviously related.
A lot of European / amiga games. Like Unreal, also a rail shooter. And I do thing the world's and color palette of shadow of the beast look like moebius.
>>3290305
Honestly nothing matches the beauty of moebius's art, guy was a god of art.
interesting coincidence, I'm scanning the manual for PD Zwei right now.
Dunno how I'll scan the first game though, it has this huge 4x3 poster as the manual, it doesn't fit in my scanner.
this was the first FF i played
i have fond memories of it and im thinking of playing again
how has it held up over time? what is the best version? apparently the steam version is shitty

My Warrior and now my Black Mage are OP as all tits, will my Black Belt and White Mage follow suit?
White Mage is equipped with a silver hammer, and I'm keeping my Black Belt unarmed.

monk will out damage warrior late game
Wait till that white mage gets masamune
it takes a while for the Black Belt to get really cool, but you're almost at that point. the Fighter is kind of always awesome though.
White Mage will never, ever not suck at fighting, but that's not what they're for. (yes, they're good with a masamune, but so is everyone else. they just don't have a weapon that doesn't suck until the masamune.)
once you get items that throw unlimited level 2 elemental attacks and Heal, your mages will have better shit to do than to ever use a weapon anyways.
don't mind me though, i'm...

In my heart, Kirby will always be white.
How does it feel knowing your heart is wrong?
wow, racist much. What do you have against pink people?
What's the deal with this anyway? Had they not finalised the colour for the NES game at this point or something?
What do you think of the Broken Sword series?
I've only played the first, it had a few bullshit puzzles but I still enjoyed it immensely. Probably one of my favorite point-and-click games ever. The second is good too from what I hear, so I'll be playing that soon.
>>3289868
I motherfucking love Broken Sword. The first is my favorite. But not necessarily the bestest. Part 2 was great. 3 I really did not get into. The new one is fucking grand aswell. One thing, they have a different voice actress for Nico in part 2. She's good, but part 1 Nico gave me boners galore. Could be cause I was 11.
Part 2 was my fave. 3 is a bit of a slog. Never played 4
Excellent series.
First one is the best, and the DS version with an added Nico chapter was also okay. Second one was also good, but I don't know, I kind of liked the Templar storyline more than the mayan stuff.
3d transition took some time to get used to, but I rather liked 3 and 4 as well, 4 had one awful thing about it, and that is quite possibly the worst ending in history of endings.
Didn't play V. Have it on Steam, but never got around to it. Heard good things about it, though.
Have you ever felt nostalgia for an older game that you had never played before?
Mother did it for me. The sweet 8 bit music and graphics and the whole tone of the game.
I guess Earthbound too, to an extent, but I got more faux nostalgia with Mother 1.
>>3289683
Willow is fucking awesome.
What went wrong?
/v/posting at its finest. Can't wait until we get "what went wrong" with X3, X4, etc. So much originality.

Nothing. It's probably my favorite game in the X series.
