One of the coolest games lost to tide of time: Illbleed
Released in the spring of 2001 and Sega Dreamcast at death's door, Illbleed would sadly be relegated to obscurity. Despite the unfavorable reviews from critics, Illbleed has a horror survival experience which has yet to be matched by any other title. The atmosphere, identifiable characters, charming aesthete, campy tone and plot all culminate in producing what might be the first Horror-Comedy Survival:

Thoughts on this for emulation ? Anyone have one ?
How hard was it to set up?
>>3306617
Have a rpi, emulated on it once. It's alright but honestly pretty shit overall. Better off building a computer for it or just getting the consoles. Might be alright for older harder to find things. Also I prefer playing games on a crt and the pi has absolutely terrible composite output

Seems okay, it's like my "lazy" setup when I don't want to Tate monitors or hook PCB's/consoles up. I use Lakka and it's okay for most pre-1999 anyway. Wifi was the only "complicated" thing because terminal commands but that shit is in the tutorial. Bluetooth is super simple pairing. But desu if you play on a CRT the wii is pretty good if you don't mind a lot of things. And if you do mind a lot of things maybe just forgo the emu.
Have that exact setup on composite. I use retropie 3.8. Easy to do if you can handle basic Linux commands. Follow the wiki, most complicated thing to do is find proper BIOS files for a couple emulators, which isn't hard at all. Works pretty well, especially for gaming with nonautist friends. I'm a collegefag with no space or cash for a real collection, so 50 bucks on a dedicated emulator "console" is a good deal.
It isn't purist, but idgaf if I can just pick up and play any of my old vidya

FF6. You should have specified all RPGs, since that's pretty much the majority of what you will get as responses.
Bad dudes. It has all the story I could ever want, those action stages are basically filler.

Good if you have an old CRT TV. Can't emulate anything past 4th gen, so no PS1 or N64.
How did Americans cope with having to use the shittier TV encoding format to play their videogames on?
>>3305320
By having games that play at the correct speeds. I'm British and refuse to collect pal for this reason. And know quite a few people with full collections full of crappy pal games all running at the wrong apeed. They wasted 10s of thousands on these.

Nice meme.. When the videogames are optimised well, they run perfectly fine.

Saturn Bomberman.
How was such a mainstream game so difficult? Did any kids actually beat this?
From what I understand the pc version has an easier save system.
>>3305178
I imagine a combination of sex appeal and brand loyalty probably accounted for the game's sales.
Didn't the PS1 port also fuck up the lighting, a lot? I remember having to use flares every few steps into the game, and ending up stranded with an insufficient supply of them.
Either way, I need to finish this game. I'm still somewhere in the first block of stages.
>>3305178
>From what I understand the pc version has an easier save system.
Yes, thank FUCK for that, still took me +20 hours some years ago.
Had TR3 as a kid on the PS1 and it took me literally months to beat the second stage.
>>3305215
I'm playing the PS1 version (on 2nd level) and had to turn my brightness up, yeah.
I'm all for using darkness as a game mechanic. It's great. But make it unlimited flares. And you have to go into the menu to use it. Not shortcut button like TR2. ALSO it doesn't show you what you pick up when you pick up an item.
I mean fuck this is some decent challenge.

I have an urge to replay the older Final Fantasy games. Problem is, there are so many remakes/remasters that I wouldn't know which to go with.
So when should I play the original and when should I play a remake? And which remakes give the best experience?
>>3304987
The Playstation versions (origins) are straight up remakes (except whiffing might be removed, I don't remember). All other versions change the gameplay.
So if you want the original experience play the NES originals or the Playstation version if you like the 16bit graphics.
Are you a purist or do you just want to get the gist of them?
Purist mode is playing the NES or Famicom original (with translation patch is fine) and going from there. Having played them all they're all fine, but they're old and kind of grindy, and FF1 has some big bugs but nothing game breaking afaik. Just some magics don't work and other mechanics.
FF Origins on PS1 was simplistic and the difficulty was toned way down. There were probably other changes but I can't remember. I enjoyed the PSP versions of 1 and 2 that you posted, so if you...

Playstation or Wonderswan is your best bet for a more original experience. The GBA and PSP versions use MP instead of vancian casting which makes it far easier.

I just wanted to have some reasonable discussion about how to play Mario Partyand which.__.
guys I'm searching for an old game.
it's a 90's point and click game, in the opening cutscene you and your friends are chilling then you go to the bathroom, while you are at the bathroom some kind of hitman get in the house and kill/catch (can't remember) your friends.
the game starts with you in the bathroom and the hitman knocking on the bathroom door, that's all I can remember since I wasn't able to escape from the bathroom (I was too young to think) hence I need to know the name of that game so that I escape that shit!
