As I kid I really loved the Quest for Glory series. The exploration, building up your character, combat, puzzles, and especially humor all appealed to me.

I just learned that Heroine's Quest: Herald of Ragnarok is a sort of remake that is available on Steam. I thought this was awesome and wanted to share it because I only ran across it yesterday.

What are your experiences with QFGs. Have you found any retro games that remind you of them?

Thanks to AGS there's probably gazillion adventure games like that, some good and some bad. Some /vr/ related and some tad newer.

Is it worth getting Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge (aka Darkstalkers 1 + 2 compilation) when you've already got Darkstalkers 3?

Eh, it's just 2, however as an extra you can play with the music and colors of Darkstalkers 1

And yes definitely, Darkstalkers 2 and 3 play very differently, 2 is a bit slower paced and turtle-y, while 3 is more akin to the MvC series.

Vampire Hunter and Savior are different and the fanbase are split when it comes to which of these two people consider the best. But both are still great capcom quality titles. But saturn ports aren't too shabby but they're also on Xbox 360 and PS3 also there's a PS2 collection but i think those are all emulated.

54 KB,
I decided to give this game a shot since I like the series and wanted to enjoy it's roots. I have no issue with old style JRPGs because I love Dragon Quest even more and I can forgive the crappy magic system. However there's something really bugging me about this game and it's the script, the NPCs are incredibly void of interesting dialogue and the story is poorly stitched together. Many NPCs share dialogue too. Is this a result of poor localization or was the original famicom version just as bland? You can't say it's because of the times because Dragon...

Maybe there weren't enough rpgs in the time.

RPG's were getting big in Japan and also it added in mechanics that other RPG's had that other RPG's in Japan lacked, like items that could cast their own spells, and enemy weaknesses and resistances.

Good gameplay(for its time).

FF was years ahead of DQ in terms of gameplay and design.

6 KB,
How did PCfags handle all the limits of their old games, this coming from someone that grew up with an NES and still thinks the games are good.

I tried to play Pool of Radiance and holy shit, the interface is terrible. You have to press a button to cycle through targets, there's no music and every room looks identical which makes navigation a pain. cRPGs interface are horribly dated.

What OS are you running? BG tends to run on just about anything and shouldn't need a VM.

Unless you're running Linux or Mac of course. There's a config that comes with the game and that can set a framerate limit. Try that.

Well looks like most of the Sega 3D classics games are on sale in 3DS eshop

I mean I already have them, and the Classics Collection, and the Steam collection, and Sonic's Genesis Collection, and a bunch of ROMs off the internet, and the original Genesis carts when available

I just wanted an excuse to make a thread, you guys like Space Harrier and OutRun right?

I'm really glad Sega Ages made so many good arcade ports on the Saturn. You don't even have to like Saturn games to like a Saturn, because it's a perfectly good Arcade player in its own right.

Post games you enjoy that are considered to be shit by the majority of gamers. If you post games that the majority of gamers like in an attempt to be contrarian, you are acknowledging that you are an edgy faggot who can't read.

I really like the Cruisin' series, both in arcades and on N64. I can see why they are hated and my love for them is probably mostly nostalgia but I find myself booting one of them up once a month or so.

I never understood why they couldn't have just made that intro random, and you never know who's going down.

Couldn't have been a rom space issue, there's a ton of unused crap in there so they could have easily fit in a sprite of the white guy going down.

Anyone got any idea on repairing broken cartridges. Pic related.

Got it for a quid since it wasn't working, figured it probably needed cleaning or something but after going at it with some alcohol and a cotton bud I had no luck, opened it up, pins are a bit worn but nothing I'd expect to stop it working, gave them a go over with some rubber and then another go with alcohol, still no luck. The board itself seems fine, no obvious broken connections or dry joints, capacitor doesn't seem to be leaking.

Any ideas or just give up on it? it's not...

Is that "wavy" darker green something to worry about? Moisture got into circuit board?

This side looks okay although the pins don't look particularly clean. Need some micro abrasion with like a fiberglass pen. Show the back.
>>
>>3309280
How about circling the "wavy green" you autistic ass nigga
>>
use brasso and some good solid scrubbing on both sides, followed by 90+% isopropyl alcohol. If you get the pins shiny and pristine, and it still does t run, give the system slot a good solid cleaning with contact cleaner/alcohol, maybe fine sandpaper if you suspect corrosion. Also test it in another known working system (a clone/emulator like a retron system is acceptable to test the livelihood of a cartridge)

If all these fail it's probably a dead rom chip. It's rare but it happens
