Two decades and two years, and it hasn't been topped.

It's a fun game.
>>3320528
It never topped Sonic 2 to begin with

I was coming home from a busy day of work, and suddenly, I saw this guy, five miles from my house. He was reading the newspaper, and something caught my eye, I thought I'd take a picture and show you.

Some poor anon put too much time into this weak ass bait lol
Emulating the 8 bit versions of Sonic 1 and 2, should I go with Master System or Game Gear?
Master System. It has a larger resolution so you can see obstacles around you easier.
Also Sonic Chaos is available on Master System and there's a "GG2SMS" hack of Sonic Triple Trouble. So if you end up beating those two and want to play the sequels... there you go.
>>3320265
From what I heard Sonic Chaos looks slightly better on GG.
I like early RPGs but I especially like the ones where character sprites are just icons that doesn't change their direction depending on movement. I'm not sure why but I really like that simplicity.
What are some other games that do this besides Dragon Warrior and Ultima 1-5?
Rouge
Check out Dark Heart of Uukrul.
Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves is pretty great.
Is Chronicles really a bad Tomb Raider game?
Never played but, it can't be worst than 3 or Angel of darkness right?
At the time being sold as a full-priced game, with less content than previous titles, more bugs, Pierre and Larson being written in for absolutely no good reason, and Eidos paying magazines for favourable review scores, it was a a bitter release. Still not as bad as AoD though.
Nowadays as a really cheap downloadable, it's a fine slice of classic Tomb Raiding, even if it's not as good as the previous titles, and the PC version comes with the level editing tools.

5 games on 1 console generation.
You'll never see that happening nowadays.
>>3320080
Don't know if sarcasm.
Assassins Creed anyone?
Also it's a bit hilarious that the fourth Asassins Creed game is called Asassins Creed Relevations and the fourth Tomb Raider game is called The Last Revelation
Evidently the same people who skewered DBZ made a similar series for FF7. It's pretty hilarious.

>>3319838
No is not. Its just bad. Just like everything else they do. Old dead jokes and twists that only a 15 year old would think is funny. But maybe people who haven't played ff7 find it funny. You tell me OP.

>my opinion is the only good one.
>my sense of humor is so fine tuned I only laugh at the best of jokes and japes.
>look at the peasants, having their fun. If only they knew their fun was them being asinine. For shame.
I'm about to play the greatest game of all time on Project 64.
Is it finishable if I play it straight through?
Just wondering what to watch out for.
Honestly, I feel like the only thing that might be too esoteric is the trading sequence to find an optional late-game sword, but I was able to figure that out when I was a little kid.
The game is very straightforward about what it wants you to do; you just have to explore and figure out how to do it. Have fun!
>>3319591
You'll be fine. You should try out a texture pack if your computer can handle it; I recommend the cell-shaded one.
>>3319591
What do you mean?
emulator- wise? Or if you can finish the game without help? If millions of of kids did it you can too. One of the most likely points to get stuck could be how to get Jabu Jabu to open his mouth.
And emulator wise even with PJ64 1.6 everyting will work just fine, I played through it with that one without problems.
Anyone have a rhea for their Saturn? I just picked one up and it's pretty sweet. I wish there was a way to batch convert .bin files to work with it though.

code one then, retard
>>3319473
can't, yo
>>3319478
why
Hello /vr/, I was wondering if you could recommend me some games...
I'm looking to play "action games", by this I mean something that has a bit more action than a platformer like Mario, I don't mind if platforming is in it but not a straight up platform game....I also don't want to play an RPG, exploration like in Super Metroid is fine but it can't be a full blown RPG.....
So, what would you recommend that isn't Mega Man? Pic not related
Mischief Makers
>>3319139
Strider, either on the Genesis or arcade version
Hagane
>>3319139
Zillion on the Sega Master System
It's like Metroid but you save your friends and can switch characters/upgrade each and you go find floppy disks to blow up a base.
It's the shit.
So the "PC" input in my Bravia claims it has no idea there's anything plugged in. I do some googling, evidently it's a common problem. Apparently the DC outputs 720x480p instead of the 640x480p the TV is normally willing to accept, so it just rejects the signal entirely. Internet people claim that things like VGA couplers, VGA>HDMI converters, and pic related VGA>VGA converters will spoof the proper signal, allowing the TV to recognize it, no problem. I tried all of those things with no success. I even tried decoding the VGA into HDMI into my home theater...

with our currency going down the toilet since friday, this should be a steal for anyone outside the UK
>>3318917
Let me know if you need links. Some people can't Google worth a shit.
Am I supposed to play this game using the d-pad or the analog?
>>3318871
>not playing the superior remake
>>3318878
I plan on playing that one later, but everyone insisted that I should play the original first.
>>3318871
You're not supposed to play it, at all. It's a meme-game for hipsters and faggots.
Duh.
ITT: Games you want to play again, but you don't because you don't want to deal with THAT part again.
>>3318340
It's not as if you need to actually read all that bro
I'd love to play this through in one sitting any time if only this boring lump wasn't embedded in there

FTFY
Hello, /vr/. I currently want to play the Banjo games and Conker's Bad Fur Day. The thing is that I don't have the money to buy a N64 and an Everdrive/original cart; so I ask: How are the ports of the former games on the 360 and how is the remake of the latter in the original Xbox?
>>3318278
No idea about Live & Reloaded, but the B-K port for the 360 is fine. Admittedly tough, I haven't played the original in a while now but the port ran fine and the HD enhancements make it look better on a modern TV without killing the feel of it.
>>3318278
Kazooie on 360 is excellent, no issues
Tooie on 360 fixes the framerate but makes aiming extremely sensitive, resulting in a lot of frustration. Just emulate it.
No idea about Conker, but consensus is the original is better.
>>3318278
Kazooie is great, better than the original. Only mistake is one of the bonus videos at the end don't sync up right but that's it.
Tooie is decent but not as great, it's way too dark for some reason and the opening cut scene desyncs but very playable. Jamjars rhymes no longer rhyme thanks to a change in control scheme as well. That'll make no sense if you haven't played the game.
Not played Live & Reloaded but I've heard it looks good although is censored like crazy compared...

How come there aren't any N64 hardware clones?
Too advanced?
Too expensive to produce, I guess.
There are bootleg N64 carts though. They're not common but I have a bootleg Shadows of the Empire cart I bought back in the 90s.
It doesn't work without a special adapter though.
Hardware "clones" are usually just ROMs running on NES-on-a-chip devices. They generally use the same chip for all console types. This chip is just some generic device that can simulate the hardware environment of older consoles, the NES specifically. Although there are a lot of inaccuracies as a result of this not being a reproduction of the actual hardware.
Designing an N64-on-a-chip would probably require some very intelligent engineering. I would think someone would be more likely to emulate the N64 on a micro computer than attempt to virtualize the hardware.
The big issue would be reproducing the SGI Reality Co-Processor GPU which is: 1) Highly proprietary, 2) Rather complicated, 3) Not well documented other than API functions and some general architectural overviews
Nobody knows how units inside do their arithmetic for example
