Especially if it's better than the Japanese version.
The Japanese original is definitely more accurate to the game, showing that it's a bit on the weird side, the western version has way better colors.
Posting some others.
Japanese version is plain, boring, unexciting colors and the bird looks out of place, almost lost.

Forgot to mention:
The US version is a bit on the generic dude vs evil side, but it's very well drawn and the eagle doesn't look weird.
pic related:
Wouldn't claim that any version is clearly superior, but I like the sharp art of the American version and that it's proud enough to show in game screenshots on the cover. Japanese version looks kinda off.
Only for Japanese games or in general?
Loved playing these games at the arcade years ago. Considering getting a TC1 cabinet one day.
Silent Scope was so much better.
>tfw playing on the arcade cabinet
>get to use that big sniper rifle
>the LCD in the scope makes it feel like a real rifle
I'd love to play it again.
Loved Time Crisis, 2 was the best, 3 was cool for letting you switch weapons. Recently played the 4th one for the first time in the god forsaken tiny arcade in my small ass hometown, sadly the second player's gun was broken, so I didn't wind up playing for very long. I loved light-gun games like this, House of the Dead, and Silent Scope, but they always seemed to be broken in some way or another. Crisis Zone was really cool too, especially with the ballistic shield.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Time Crisis has always some of the best little attract movies in any given arcade.

do people really consider Joy Mecha Fight a kusoge?
it has grade A+ tier designs and graphics and the gameplay is even better, honestly one of my most favorite games on the Famicom
>>2764360
I've never heard anyone refer to it as kusoge. not sure where you're getting that from.
>>2764360
Now where in the blue hell have you heard someone calling that game a kusoge?...
are you trolling just to get replies, m8?
I've been doing a simultaneous run of Half-life and Half-life source and I would like to have a thread dedicated to the early half-liives and possibly sven-coop.
I think one reason Half-Life has had such a long life is that Valve released the level design tools used to make the game. The community was a constant source of awesome maps, mods, and challenge. Same thing for other games like StarCraft. I don't understand how companies haven't understood this (Mario Maker and Mega Man editors are pathetic attempts at this).
Miss me some rocket-crowbar.
>>2764356
oh, undoubtedly. accessible modding tools are important for any single player game's lifespan.
look at doom or thief.
>>2764389
I think most companies feel by limiting the lifespans you'll have to buy their sequel for more and new content.
Remember when crappy movie tie-ins were actually pretty good?
>>2764291
My sis had that on the SNES. We could never get more then 2-3 levels done normally, but found passwords for all the levels and cheat codes, and had tons of fun playing the game that way.
The shooting level with the jet was awesome if you had infinite ammo on.
>>2764291
There has always been really good and really bad movie tie ins. Hell here's a really awful one published from the same company.

Gosh hamlet I forgot my image.
With Descent: Underground coming I figure now is a good time for a Descent thread. Post favorite moments, screenshots, powerups, game in the series, etc.
Also if anyone can help, I can't find the old port of Descent to the PSP and I've been craving it on the go. (please no android)
Also post favorite song tracks from any game/any version of any game.
This area of the first game made me absolutely NOT want to go through that red door.
I'm sorry, did you want those shields?
>>2764178
These fuckers. Hitscan weapons on enemies are annoying but I guess it's fair since you have the exact same weapon though.

Also this set the mood for me for the whole game. Made me instantly love it.
I'm starting a PS1 collection. I only have those games in the pic for now. I'll try to get the more popular ones like Resident Evil and Silent Hill eventually. There are also the Working Design games that I'd like to get.
Are there any hidden gems that I should look out for?
Thanks!
>>2763968
>I'm starting a PS1 collection.
nah, just use theisozone or emuparadise fam. but you probably don't care about playing the games so go ahead and waste your money.
>>2763973
I actually do, why would you assume that?
>TFW EMULATE EVERYTHING NOW
>TFW WANT TO SELL MY PS1 SHIT BUT STILL NOT WORTH ANYTHING
Any tip for mania in this game? Enemy speed gets pretty crazy.
get gud.
>>2763958
JUST GO CRAZY NIGGA
Use Max.
>that friend who used Vanish + Doom on all the bosses without even trying to beat them first
>>2763801
>that friend who cares how other people play videos games and judges people on their ability to beat a shitty boss fight
ff6 is easy as shit anyway
>>2763801
>Vanish + Doom on all the bosses
lolwut in ff6 the 90% of the boss are immune to vanish and doom.
Can we have a jrp thread?
I'm looking for a new ps1 game to play on my psp.
I have vargrant story, xenogears, wildarms, and parasite eve on my to play list but i'm currently leaning to ffIX since I liked both 7 & 8.
I tried wild arms but i couldn't get into it.
Anything else I might be missing?
Anyone else unable to get into wild arms?
I'd recommend Breath of Fire 3 & 4
google JRPG
>>2763748
Try Threads of Fate, Brave Fencer Musashi, Grandia, Chrono Cross, Breath of Fire 3 or 4, Monster Rancher, Suiokoden II, Legend of Legaia, Digimon World, Vandal Hearts and Xenogears
>>2763660
I'm pretty sure there's already one that re-balances the game. Last I saw it, it only worked on emulators.
>>2763663
Oh you mean hard mode? Yeah that exists and it's alright. That and a JP retranslation are the only romhacks that exist for the game.
I'd love to see a nice real map editor and the ability for people to create new castles. Sadly may never happen. SotN is only a few years older than Super Metroid, but SM has had so many new map romhacks for ages.

Will this ever be finished? Probably not.
I have one on the way and have some questions since I never owned one before.
1st: I have done some research and see that one can play Japanese games rather easily by simply getting an action replay but well looking for games I discovered an Ultraman game that comes with it's own memory card. How would one go about playing it while the action replay is being utilized?
2nd: I'm a little fuzzy on how saving games works on the Saturn. I see that there is a watch battery that is used on the console itself and that there also memory cards. Do you need a memory...

Action replay either works as ram or a memory card. Some incompatibility.

>cartridge slot
>>2763161
The action replay 4-in-one doubles as a freeloader and a ram cart, and with a quick flash it can bypass copy protection as well. That Ultraman game and KOF94 use there own carts that refuse to boot without them, so I don't think you could get away with those two.
Memory cards are just for backing up and transfering saves, since games cannot save directly to the memory card as far as I know.
They're pretty well made and don't have any big problems like gamegears or PCE's. I found one...

What does /vr/ think of Sonic but better?
>>2763143
The first one.
The second one was kinda broken, but still fun.
Games like this are responsible for the furries of today, right? I'm being serious.
>>2763169
Maybe, but what does it matter? Regardless of how annoying a culture is, as long as it's not a threat to anyone, it has my support.
Everquest, the first MMO (not 3D MUDs like Ultima), released in March 1999.
Project 1999 is a thing now as well. Perfectly capturing the game's evolution and expansion release dates relatively perfectly.
And the game is still getting expansions with The Shattered Mirror(?).
The Broken Mirror is the new expansion.
i wish i could get threads up on this game but no one that plays goes to 4chan i dont think. 105 paladin povar here.
This just released on Steam a few days ago. Tried playing SSPortable a year ago and it ran like shit on my PC. I've played and finished SS2 countless times and it's amazing. Just wondering, is this port worth it? I've heard SS1 hasn't aged all that well and that most people tend to skip it but I'm super curious to try this game out!
System shock 1 is perfectly playable...with the mouselook mod installed.
Enhanced Edition is good but I'm not going to bother responding properly because some asspained faggot mod/janitor that really hates the publisher has been going around and deleting every SS1 thread on /vr/ since it was released on GOG. Enjoy your thread while it lasts, however long that may be.
its worth it, OP. you get the OST in FLAC too
