If there a modded or third party option for the NES (not retroarch based like the RetroDuo stuff, actual hardware) with stereo sound and better video output out of the box?
I know you can mod this thing if you have the skills buying a couple of parts, but I'm not very good soldering circuits (I managed to make a PAL/NTSC switch for my SNES out of luck following a guide, but then I fucked up a Gamecube trying to install a simple mod chip. FML), I would pay some money for a better NES and not risking fucking up the one I've had all my life.
eBay seems to say they go for about tree fiddy (no really) but I think people have said they've got 'em for $100-150.
I can't speak to their quality at all, and am not even very up on this part of the scene.
nes in stereo sounds like shit
glue master drakon will hook you up
found these games at a yard sard earlier today. what should i do with them?

Hey /vr/ I have a question about an SNES bundle and didn't know who else to ask besides you.
On my local craigslist a fellow is offering his SNES, 2 Controllers and the following games for $300, although I got him down to $260:
Mega Man X
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario All Stars
Donkey Kong Country
DK Country 2
DK Country 3

Super Ghouls N' Ghosts

yes. on average most of those games will cost around $25
Probably not worth it. None of those games are particularly rare (especially considering virtual console or ports exist for the good ones on that list) and the physical copies are only really worth something if you're looking to complete a collection of some kind. Guessing from what you're looking to buy I assume you're only interested in playing the games rather than building a collection. Also, emulation is a thing.
tl;dr don't buy it.
>>2777941
Yeah you're right about me just wanting to play the games. I have done plenty of emulation stuff in the past but I'm a big nostalgia fag and have kinda romanticized the idea of having the physical console and cartridges again and such.
So what are the cons to using this thing? Any noticeable lag?
I'm in the market for a BVM but I'm thinking more long term and I'm not sure what a good hour usage is. Anyone have the XRGB Mini and knows if it works well?
Depends what you want.
The mini is for 720p or 1080p with or without scanlines. Will give you perfect picture.quality. Just make sure to get good jp21 cables or converter.
Has like 22ms of lag which is good. The bad is it drops signal with 240p-480i transitions. You'd need to use the other Micomsoft scalers to get around that.
Oh and if you're EU you need a stepdown or new power supply I believe.
>>2777895
Drops signal with 240p-480i transitions? Wha?
Sorry.
>>2777908
Some games will switch between 240p and 480i for cut scenes or menus. Those games the TV will go black for a good 5-10 seconds every time with the mini.
Name a video game better than this. Protip:You can't.I'm not even memeing.
cant beat Ferguson simulator
>>2777904
>chimpout and monkeys running wild
You're talking about the same game as op
I can do you one better. An entire game filled with nothing but worst rooms.
>>2777918
I never played Double Dragon 2, but that at least looks possible with enough practice.
Pic related, however, is some grade-A bullshit.
For me the best baseball game
bad news baseball is my favorite
It had some rockin intro music.

>those lips
what the fuck nintendoChicago White Sox were overpowered as fuck in that game
QFFF
KNRR
DDLR
XGTQ
Will be forever ingrained into my memory.
Fucking love this game.
If I wasn't playing Castlevania: Bloodlines for the first time I would have played this for Halloween. This game always looked aesthetically amazing but I don't know a lot about the gameplay.
NTHGTHDGDCRTDTRK will be for me.
The other day on/v/a guy told me that Death was way more difficult in Dracula's Curse than in CV1, unless you use Sylpha. I did it with Trevor and thought it was way easier than in the first game. At the same time though, I haven't played CV1 since 2008 and I'm much better at games now than I was then. Plus, I had holy water for the Dracula's Curse fight but used a cross for the original fight.
Is there any merit to the statement that Death is tougher in Dracula's Curse than he is in CV1, or is it the other way around? I'd like to...

He said that because he knows how to stunlock Death with holy water. Once you get that method down, the insanely difficult becomes piss easy. Holy water x II or x III borders on glitchy if you didn't have to take special care to get it and keep it.

>literally cheating death
makes me sick. why don't you fight like a belmont?
>>2776739
Other way around. In Dracula's Curse, you have more options, like Grant's agility, or Alucard's attack utterly raping the second form. Not to mention III doesn't have the infamous hallway leading to him, so it's easier to start the fight with full life.
What are some 3rd gen games with really good art direction? I personally love the cutscenes and art featured in Ninja Gaiden II and III.
So... no Game Boy and Color? Or maybe DMG and no Color?
All of them

Later NES games look consistently great; tile variety/detail and palettes optimized to the motherfucking max; great creativity and ingenuity to push limitations (faux parallax, huge background-based "sprites"); great stuff
Kirby's Adventure, Battletoads, Return of the Joker and Little Samsom are the best looking ones imo
Retro racing games that are worth to play today.
>mfw i discovered that game yesterday
Is that some micro machines! nestalgia wave. Dig it up and play it, but tottaly to lazy.
>>2776654 >>2776663
I loved playing with the track editor in the second one; it even let you to draw your own tiles and whatnot, good times
The breakfast table circuits from the first one were the greatest though
I'm really fond of story-rich RPGs set in modern-era (i.e. late 20th century) Earth, but when I try to think of classic examples, only Earthbound comes to mind.
What else fits this description?
Persona?
There are quite a few set in a modern-era, on the Super Famicom at least.
The SMT series is modern.
Idea no Hi and Maka Maka
Gokinjo Boukentai
Adventures of Hourai High

In fact, a lot of the Megaten games are, or at least partially.
Retro characters that are literally you.
>>2776435
for me it's OP - intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor.
None, because I'm a real person with real person problems and I don't think any video games accurately reflect who I am.
for me it's gillian seed because I am a hit with the ladies
So what would your perfect video game cabinet?
I've been wanting to make a kind of arcade cabinet, but like to do more than just a single MAME cabinet, have some other emulators on, maybe be able to play on its own screen, or hook up to another TV and use controllers to play a game if something like that would be possible. Also need to support four players for games like Gauntlet, but still be able to shove enough buttons on the thing to play most games.
Could probably build a machine just to be an emulator cabinet, have every system emulator on a computer...

Your first homebrew cab should be one with a rotating tri-sync CRT, good sound, six-button digital controllers (and some USB ports for 3-4-6 player games on demand) and a full collection of all the classic console games and appropriate arcade games (i.e. most pre-2000 ones). Might as well configure some nice heavy light guns too and maybe a trac-ball.
Your second homemade cab IMHO should be a vs cab with two monitors and linked systems. Controls should actually be easily changeable and fit at the very least your choice of large analog twinsticks (probably the original...

Do any games need more than one trackball?
Also what about a turn-dial for those Atari games that used them?
How well does an emulator cabinet actually recreate the feel of an arcade game?
I think being able to hook it up to a tv and give out controllers would be nice, be able to play an old mario party game from the couch or something.
I was wanting to have a real nice cabinet to sit in the corner of the lounge that could play a lot of shit and serve as a nice entertainment system so I wouldn't...

If you have a strong computer with an ATI card outputting arcade-accurate resolutions/sync rates to an arcade-accurate display the effect is very good, especially in a cabinet. Playing console games is also pretty satisfying on a cabinet, while playing arcade games sitting on the couch is somewhat less so. Just build a media center PC for the couch gaming, especially if you're only planning to use an HDTV there. Invest in some adapters to use the original controllers and you'll probably be pretty happy with...

Was Sega ALWAYS one to lend its games out to other consoles?
I've seen a lot of Yu Suzuki's games like Afterburner, Outrun, Hang-On, Space Harrier and so on, a lot of what's defined as "classic Sega", was also available on the Turbografx and PCs. There's also the matter of Sonic Pocket Adventure on the Neo Geo Pocket as late as the Dreamcast era. Was Sega just more open to sharing its IP even before they went full third party?
Pretty much just their arcade games. 3rd party companies like Sunsoft and NEC Avenue were reaponsible for the ports.
Though for some odd reason
Penguin Land was ported to gameboy
Fantasy Zone II was ported to nes
>>2776207
yeah I never understood why Sonic was on the Neo Geo Pocket, or Gamecom for that matter.
>>2776236
the neo geo pocket was planned to have compatibility with the dreamcast in the same way pokemon stadium did, but then snk went bankrupt the following year.
