ITT: weird/obscure adventure games
If there's an obscure game you're having trouble finding, check for it on Adventure Legends, it has a ridiculous archive.
To run a lot of older games, I suggest using the program Oracle VM VirtualBox to run something like Windows 95 or 98.
You can find a couple already-set-up VM's on the Adventure Legends forum here, be sure to : www.legendsworld.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13565&view=unread#unread

Alice: An Interactive Museum
Trying to get some Saturn Emulation up on my PC, Have all my settings and BIOS configured, but I'm having trouble getting games to work properly.
I downloaded Virtua Fighter of Emuparadise and The .rar had a .mds and .mdf file. I converted these into a .bin and .cue file and when loading the .cue in Virtual Clone Drive, the game starts up, but has no CD audio and the graphics are very messed up.
Any idea as to what I'm doing wrong?

Try Yabause. Also emuparadise is kind of shitty. Try finding Saturn isos elsewhere.
>>2819878
I'll give Yabause a try If I can't get SSF working better, I heard Yabause has lower compatibility in exchange for ease of use.
Where would you recommend finding better Saturn rips?

here is one I've used before.

ITT: secrets that took you Ages to find out
I was replaying that game years later and came across a gold enemy, apparently there's 4 golden enemies hidden across the world that each only appears in a specific season. You only get a ring, I believe.
What's the secret in the OP?
>>2815541
First one to come to mind. Though I did read about it and didn't find it completely on my own.
>>2815597
you answered your own question
Why did you lie to me?

Personal tastes man.
Yours are specially hipster, that's all.

It's one of those games that you go into expecting something shitty then it ends up surprising you with it's not-so-shittiness.
Thoughts? Memories? Favourite cars/ tracks?
Used to play the shit out of those games with my brother when we were kids. Once, I tuned our Mitsubishi Galant with something I didn't like, didn't know how to reverse the changes so I deleted the whole save file. Brother almost killed me when he found out.
What I miss from the first game is the awesome rock/electronic music. Also the fact that every car dealer had its own music in the background, that was nice.

GT 2 is my favorite PS1 game even if the US soundtrack is outdated imo and not really my style. The effort and graphics still blow me away.
I had the demo first, and I used to try to flip my car over as hard a possible and also try to damage the car. It kind of pissed me off that it wouldnt let you do that.
endurance runs were great fun a and time killers. The rewards were super nice for getting first place. Thats what I remember most. spending an hour doing endurance shit.

Will try to do more tracks like this in the future, anyone is welcome to use them.

Okay, let's get started with some juicy Artdink. Tokio was their simulation game most akin to SimCity, giving you the role of mayor running an orbital Island Three-style space colony. This PC-98 city-building title diverges from the company's flagship series A-Train by ditching mass transit as the means of expansion and city growth; you can do things much like in a Maxis game, albeit with more economic and political customization/options than usual. You have three panes of the colony to build your city on, all the while running as incumbent and trying to profit from...

Now for the underbelly. This space-port's where most of the A-Train holdover influence can be found. You also have to maintain your colony's energy resources and climate, which factors into both domestic and economic policy.
Anyone know of good [translated] detective games out there worth playing? I would especially love if there was something like Asenheim Project that provided them in browser.
>"This 3D game looked so real and impressive then, but now the graphics aged badly! It's so weird to look back at it after all these years, it just looks ridiculous and blocky now! 3D ages badly!"
Wh...why is this statement so common? Old games always, ALWAYS looked blocky and weird compared to pre-rendered 3DCG in films. There was always a huge, glaringly noticeable compromise to be made if you wanted to make a real-time, interactive experience in 3D. The models of the original Half-Life, which came out in 1998, looked pretty...

it's been a long time ago, so people misremember shit as looking better
Wh...why are you such a sperglord?
>>2835061
But why would it have looked "real" and amazing back then? I could always tell, even as a little kid, that "amazing" video game graphics were the result of a massive hardware compromise and that they always looked blocky as shit compared to even their 3DCG commercials. In fact, I judged the "best graphics" based on whatever got the closest to looking like the standard set by cinema. Were people that easily swayed by marketing hype?
Post your favorite yoge* games /vr/.
*yoge = japanese term referring to western games/games developed outside of Japan

Km interested un getting this forma retrogaming and as htpc, could this run up to GC? Saturn? Nes snes would be just fine
Depends, what are the specs?
>>2833381
Hah! I have one for just such a reason. What version are you looking at?
>>2833381
Wow that little box is adorable, mini PC I'm assuming?
Someone throws SNES & N64 cartridges to a water canal and im thinking to go with some friends and try to recover the games from the water. It happens the last week. Can i save the cartridges or they are 100% dead now?
>>2831012
let them dry, clean pcb with rubbing alcohol, let dry again, then try.
The cartridges themselves are fine, minus sticker damage. The games' boards within are fucked.
Salt water they're fucked.
Fresh water might be ok but probably fucked.
Why hasn't anybody heard of Zool?
Apparently predates Megaman X by a year, has slopes, wall kicks, and ports to genesis, dos, and game boy. I found videos of this game today. Jumps look floating and shitty but we remember Bubsy.
Yeah, I played Zool 2. In the game you could choose the male or the female character. The main sposor of the game was the Chupa Chups candy factory. So nice game.
I love it, master system version has the most impressive scrolling speed I've seen on that shitty system. I think by the time they made Zool 2 the mascot craze was already dead.
Zool was only popular in Europe.
Zool 1 was garbage
Zool 2 was decent, but the only console ports were the Amiga CD32 and the Jaguar. Both were unpopular
With all the Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball bullshit currently going on...aren't you glad you played and fell in love with video games at a time when no one cared?
I sure am.
I remember when I was a kid I wanted Mortal Kombat for my SNES and my mom kept telling me NO. Then one day my Dad bought me MK2 and when my mom saw all the blood in the game I remember exactly what she said "That's it? It looks so fake."
My Dad also showed me how to give the strippers money in Duke Nukem.
My Dad used to use his work Amiga to copy games with guys in his office. He gave me a copy of this when I was 6.

We've always had censorfags, it just used to be hardcore Christians and idiots like Jack Thompson. And people who thought playing Counter-Strike made you want to kill people irl.
The hardcore left now is as bad as the hardcore right is/was, and are the new group of censorship zealots. Much like we had titties on statues taken out of Castlevania in the West, we now have slutty lollies dressed as moderately skimpy lollies in Western releases. Shit changes but it also stays the same. I'm sure there were groups that tried to ban games like Demon's Crest, and...
