M&M 4-5 VS 6-7
Which is the best?
3.
It is way more difficult than World of Xeen, has better character portraits, and is more of a condensed package deal - it's fairly short (about the length of Clouds of Xeen by itself) and, IMHO, more re-runable. The final sequences are better.
WoX is easy, especially if you use its "travel between worlds" schtick from the get-go to get souped up in Darkside and then wreck Clouds.
The right answer is that the best M&M game in the series isArcomage

How is 3 difficult in any way? Unless you go full retard you'll never get stranded in hostile territory and there's always some solvable area available in case you can't break through an obstacle.
1 and 2 are difficult though particularly 2 borders on bullshit.
>Square is charging 22 dollars for the android version of FF5
>horrendous graphics
>zero gameplay updates with same extremely dated gameplay
>looks like a fan project
>According to Square, this is what the current up to date version of the game is supposed to be
>FF6 android coming soon!

>Not using the SNES version but instead spent more time and money on a shitty graphical change and localization.
SE is just wasting time and money on these. They could just literally use a fucking ROM and localize a translation like SEGA did with Monster World IV when it was released to VC.
>>2829678
>spent more time and money on a shitty graphical change and localization.
They didn't spend much, I can tell you that. Everything looks rushed and cheap.
The monsters are just tracing from the original drawings. The character sprites look like trash. Many areas use texture blocks that don't line up properly and have visible seams.
This thing was thrown together in a weekend.
>>2829747
All the remakes bar FFI and II on Playstation are trash.
FFIII and IV DS are debatable, but the rest of em on PSP and Mobile are trash. As you say, everything looks rushed and cheap on all of them.
Best stick to ports, and while the GBA versions of all the games have some brightness issues, they're probably the best versions of each Nintendo era game.
First time player here and I just started it like an hour ago but this is very interesting. Really excited to see how it goes it seems like my time of game so far.
question though I read that this game is better if you avoid confrontations because of the stories and characters, so if I were to get into one by accident, would there be a way of stop everybody from wanting to kill me or would I be destined to be a target until I leave that certain area/level/etc?.
It depends who you started fighting.
There really are a couple enemies that just fight you on sight, and there's some early game small time thieves that fight you, like if you get pulled into the alley or whatever.
I don't think they effect any factions. As long as you have a high wis/char/int character, don't worry, you'll see most of the dialogue options and that's what you don't want to miss out on.
You'll have many fights and that's fine, but you want to be able to choose.
tfw reading the novel is more fun than playing the game

>95% of the game was reading
>mort had the only good VA
>character customazation for combat was a joke
Obviously.
This is a great game, but is there any reason to play it anymore instead of the original? It's got cut features and the difficulty is dumbed down from the Japanese version. With the ease of just being able to play that now is the US FF2 version obsolete?
>it's got cut features
no
>difficulty is dumbed down from the Japanese version
Even the dumbed down version of FFIV is way harder than any FF that came after it. Also there are so many versions of FFIV nowadays it's hard to say which one(s) are worth playing nowadays to begin with.
>is the US FF2 version obsolete?
Quite to opposite. Thanks to its translation (YOU SPOONY BARD!) this version is immortalized.
What are some good classic racing games? It can be anything, from realistic to arcade-y to vehicle combat.
I swear to fucking god that HUD is lifted straight from Sonic
What are some good life simulation games? I just finished PM2 for the first time and I need more.
Try Wonder Project J2 for the N64. There is a translation patch.

The point of the game is to make sure your princess reaches maturity WITHOUT becoming a coked-out slut.
>>2826932
Harvest Moon remains a super addictive farmboy sim.

What retro games play themselves? Sometimes I just like bots fighting in the background or leaving my auto-generated world do it's thing.
Also, screensavers.
>>2826483
knights and merchants pretty much(at least the scenarios)
settlers games(most) have a lot of idle.
but yeah simearth is the king of let it play itself for two days.(at least the first levels)
>>2826551
There are no levels in SimEarth, just scenarios. There is no way to win either. SimEarth is more a toy than a game. Something you can play with however you see fit.
ITT: Games that should have had a true sequel.
Spiritual successors and spin offs don't count.
>>2826415
Honestly not a troll response. SMB2 has always been my favorite in the series. Whether it was SMB2-2 or Doki Doki 2 I don't care, but I'd have loved a direct sequel.
Alundra was decent.
>>2826415
Haven't played the original, but I liked this.
An actual sequel to Quake 1.
>have a game in your collection forever
>only just now realize it has some value to it
Whats the most valuable cart/disc in your collection?
I don't know. Why would I look to see what the games in my collection are worth? I have no intention of ever selling them, I got them to play.
>>2826110
Neither do I, I just enjoy the novelty of finding out a game I have is sought after.
>>2826095
I don't really have much that's valuable but it's kinda weird seeing games I spent less than $10 to get a complete copy not even six years ago raise more than twice that.
I'm suprised that this game is still so popular (at least in latin america). I hadn't played it in like 10 years yet there are still a fuckton of servers running full of people.
counter strike thread?
Yep. Because its old doesnt mean its not good. I still play action quake 2
I stopped playing after Valve scrapped EAX/A3D support. Surround sound was a necessity for me.
I remember surf maps being stupidly addicting back when I played this game a lot.
We can all agree this is the greatest Castlevania game of all time before IGA ruined the series with SotN, right?
I'm sure everyone will agree with that
Well, I fucking loved it. But watch egoraptors sequelis episode on castlevania.
Meh, it's pretty easy, the music is boring, the slowdown is horrendous, the graphics are poor, the bosses are easy, the platforming is awkward, there are no multiple characters, there are no branching paths, and it is slow even for a SNES game. I would say Rondo of Blood is the best, followed by Dracula's Curse, then New Generation and Chronicles. IV probably places sixth after Vampire's Kiss.
Now, we ALL know DKC2 was the best out of the original Donkey Kong Country trilogy. But... which one is 2nd best?
look it's this thread again
oh hey that dkc3 is in french
>>2823929
DKC
The enemies look better, the music is better, no shitty Kiddy Kong, DKC3s only good bits are that it has Dixie and as a result it has more interesting levels
DKC3 was my favorite as a kid and still is. Get fucked, OP.

Why aren't you playing True Lies? Also Judge Dredd.
Roughly half of the Jurassic Park games
Can we talk about how retro games are not meant to be played on CRT TVs since they stretch the picture to 4:3 and disfigure it and smudge it afterwards to hide the flaws? It's like when you play Gameboy games on a PSP and don't use 1x or 2x integer scaling, but instead fit to screen + bilinear, which results in ugly pixels which are hidden by the blur.

Are you afraid of the truth, son?
Then what they hell did they mean for them to be played on? You do realize no one was playing videogames on an LCD back in the mid 90s, right?
What are some good first-person dungeon crawlers that aren't too reliant on a mouse (I'm on a trackpad) on DOS?
>>2821975
I'm currently playing daggerfall on a trackpad. It's not too bad once you get used to it. Put it to mouse controls for viewing.
>>2821986
I would play Daggerfall but I'm in a dungeon crawling mood, andI can never seem to find any dungeons besides crypts with two rooms.
>>2821991
i'd give it another shot if you can. when you do manage to find a proper dungeon, it takes a few hours to explore. it's a really fantastic dungeon crawler.
anyway, played the might and magic series? if you don't want something mouse heavy you might want to stick to turn-based stuff anyway. play world of xeen if you haven't already.
