I loaned my dad's coworker's kids my controller so they could play this game back when it came out. I was getting into PC gaming and the 64 was collecting dust, so what? It was the controller in the picture. Sigh.
Let that be a lesion, OP. Never trust children. Not even your own, and CERTAINLY not those of others.
>>2879094
Forgot to mention it was DK64.
In high school (1999-2003) I was loaned Goldeneye 64 and a couple of junk titles and we lost touch. Last year I found the guy on Facebook who, coincidentally, lived in the same city as I did (we grew up in a small town), I asked if he wanted them back, he enthusiastically responded, and I got to go hang out with his wife and child and we played goldeneye 64 all those years later!
>>2879107
That was over 15 years ago. That lesion has healed by now :)
that game is god tier as fuck
which one does /vr/ prefer? 6, 7 or 8 ?
also Might and Magic thread
shit game senpai
>>2879020
6 for its complete lack of coherent art direction which makes it strangely charming.
>>2879058
what do you mean by no art direction?
like how you go from snow mountains to cannibal islands?
Who here has played the video game version of The World is Not Enough? I've never seen any discussion on here about it. It's rarely brought up anywhere, for that matter.
It's obviously not anywhere near as good as Goldeneye for a number of reasons, but I'm still curious to see what others thought of it.
Personally, I think it's fun and expanded on a bunch of things Goldeneye did. It's not nearly as smooth as Goldeneye and the multiplayer maps are some of the worst I've ever played, but it's pretty decent.
meh it's alright
I know I rented the psx version back in the day and kinda liked it but that's all I can remember. It was one of those mediocre games you play for a bit, have some fun and then forget about it. Tomorrow never dies was awful tho.
>>2877882
weak bait
>not playing the GOAT strategy game of all time
What's your excuse, /vr/?
>>2877719
>greatest of all time of all time
>not Dune II, Warcraft 2, or the original Medieval Total War
Get taste
>>2877767
>Medieval Total War
not retro
This game was a disappointment.
>>2877476
How so? I liked it as least as much as DKC and DKC2.
>>2877476
Now you know how your parents felt.
>>2877476
>Kiddy Kong was a disappointment
FTFY
How do I get this shit working, the right button on my genesis controller doesnt work anymore. I rubbed it with alcohol and shit and cleaned the whole controller. Is it just fucked? I wouldnt care so much but no place in town has any genesis controllers and Id rather not order one.
>>2877271
Just fucking spend 5 dollars on a new one, it's cheaper than a meal at McDonald's you poor cunt
>>2877278
Man I just said I'd rather not order one, I'll buy a new one if I cant get it to work. Thanks for nothing fag
>>2877284
go fuck yourself idiot, maybe if you werent too busy buying bullshit razr gear you would be able to afford a new controller, but you aren't and instead are making yourself look really stupid
Hi /vr.
I've just tried Battle squadron and Agony on WinUAE and i am really, REALLY loving it. Think i can get along with amiga titles just fine.
What, in your opinion, are essential/best/good/worthwile
>shootan'
>rayceen'
>platforman'
>beat'em upan'
>shmoopan'
For the platform? I'd prefer exclusives and/or versions that are noticeably better than on the other...

Virocop is freaking tight. You pilot an R2D2 looking bot through top-down videogame worlds inside a computer to do some weaponbased virus cleaning. Really wish more games took the kind of 'it's top down but also has platforming' approach - only really seen it done in Spot goes to Hollywood and Sonic 3d. Also recommend Walker for a bit of mouse and keyboard carnage. Arrows move your mech, guns are entirely mousepiloted, hordes of lemming-sized soldiers...

What are you listening?
The Legacy Music Hour
Episode 3: experimental music.
>>2875624
Fucking master piece OP. I still have the CD that came with the game.
>>2875624
>What are you listening?
Why is your grammar?
What's that game I'm trying to remember called?
It was a third person rts-ish thing where you played some sort of summoner who harvested the souls of fallen enemies in order to summon monsters and complete objectives. You could order your minions indirectly, but played from the perspective of the summoner, and could assist them on the battlefield with various spells and stuff.
Pic unrelated.
>>2874378
masters of magic for dos
that was too easy
>>2874447
Nah, that's not the one. It was an over-the-shoulder-cam sort of deal, and there was some stuff about choosing a God to follow or something.
Holy shit, best christmas ever. One of my favorite games ever just got a completed translation.
Before with the unfinished translation, all the signs in the game were still Japanese, making a walkthrough required. But now all the graphical text has finally been finished.
Go play this game guys, seriously. I highly recommend it

Looks really gay.

My new years resolution is to leave 4chan. What are some unmissable retro games that I'll never be able to ask you about again? All genres except rpg, obscure and known games, doesn't matter.
>>2870374
Nothing is ever unmissable because tastes vary so much. Just download rom dumps and then you'll have nearly a life time of games to discover and enjoy.
Trust me, the fun of clicking on some random title you've never heard of and discovering a really fun game is a better feeling than you will ever get out of recommendation threads.
Bye.
>>2870386
That's actually pretty cool advice
>>2870374
Star Control 2 (best played as The Ur-Quan Masters, which is a port of the superior 3DO version).
Does there exist an accurate list "firsts" in video games? For example, was Earthbound the first to have a rolling HP bar?
>>2866515
I think /vr/ could make this list on their own.
From what will we begin?
>>2866659
No idea.
EB was in fact the very first full video game ever released!
Here's a thread for Gb/GBC music that gets overshadowed, underappreciated or downright ignored. Bring in the best tunes.

Classic Super Mario official art thread.
I'll be posting some of my favorite Mario art, some obscure, some others not so obscure, but always official, not fan art.
Got any cool pics to share?

Not exactly official art, but thanks for the effort anon
I'm going to dump a bunch of BoF pics, starting with my fav, BoF2. Help me out if you can.
