So I've had this Gameboy since about 1995 and it's been stored in a box for a while, and when I found it again to try to play it, it had these weird streaks on the screen.
Adjusting the contrast didn't help much, and when looking up the problem, I could only find a problem where there were dead pixels and dead lines, whereas these lines aren't dead and can move on the screen. There was nothing in the stickied threads links that would help either. Maybe I'm just bad at looking things up. It does it with several games. Do any of you know how to fix...

What am I suppose to see here?

The screen has vertical dark streaks on it. I think the last picture is the easiest to see. Or the bottom left, you can clearly see dark lines.
>>2903740
check the connections to the lcd after dis-assembly of the case or replace the lcd.
Atari Lynx thread?
Okay, don't mind if I do
>>2903462
STUN Runner, Zarlor Mercenary and Warbirds were the best. That said, I should've bought a fucking game boy.
Also, fuck Batman Returns, Pit Fighter and Ninja Gaiden
>>2903474
But Pit Fighter had dat ebin soundtrack dude...

I enjoyed the Crystal Mines port.
You will never play the first console/Nintendo polygonal 3D game for the first time ever again
You will never fly with your pet bros and save Slippy's stupid ass for the first time again
You will never destroy the multi-layered boss's ass and then shoot the credits up for the first time ever again
I don't even get how anyone could live with themselves if they didn't live through the experience of playing this as their first 3D game, it was one of the real few milestones in vidya
;_;
Well mine was the Megadrive port of Hard Drivin. It had a barn. And a bridge.
>PAL Starfox
Ooooh boy, I dont want to imagine the framerate on that version.
I was playing X-Wing on PC long before Starfox came out. While I acknowledged it was an impressive showcase of the Super NES's capabilities, I never got that WOW-factor from it because I had already seen plenty of low-polygonal starfighters.
What is your favorite force in R-Type The Third Lightning and why is it the Shadow Force?
>>2902579
Myyyyyyy faaaaavoriiiiite fooooorce issss type threeeeeeeee
(i'm speaking in slowdown because this is about rtype 3)
>>2902701
wow anon my sides are splitting in half
>>2902579
Anchor force is the best force type though.
Does anyone know of a scan of the manual for X (ekkusu) or have the manual and would be willing to scan it?
I'd like to attempt a translation.
In the meantime, post 3D or otherwise impressive gameboy games.
>>2902173
Sadly GB manuals are generally hard to find. Likely because there were so many of them and no one saw it beeing really worth it :(
Mysterium
Ray-Thunder
Altered Space - a 3D Alien Adventure
>>2903675
Ray-Thunder looks cool.
It reminds me of Comso-Tank.
ITT: that one series you wish wasn't dead
Phantasy Star, the real ones.
anything after sonic advance 3 is dead to me
Pretty much every Sega series. But especially Jet Set Radio.
>ITT: We chat about Homebrew games (aka games that weren't official but are not hacks)
This one is so awful it's hilarious. The writing is almost on par with some 14 year old's creepypasta.

School started so I had to shelve at the end of summer, but I really need to complete get around to completing this.
Anyone tried Nightmare Busters on the SNES? That game is way too hard for me.
So a friend of mine just did a video about a playstation demo disc and it got me thinking about how amazing they are.
Its like you can get a taste of lots of games really easily in a time when you didn't have the internet or money to buy games.
They are not really a thing anymore, do people even make demos?
so what demo discs do you remember having?
heres his vid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE-jxEv0PVg
I remember having one from (I think) burger king or maybe it was pizza hut. didn't burger king used to put CD's in kids meals? music etc
>>2901361
I had probably a half dozen demo discs from "Playstation Jampacked." I think they came with a gaming magazine, maybe the playstation magazine.
They were phenomenal. One of them had the first level of Parappa the Rapper in its entirety. Another had Metal Gear Solid playable until you get to the DARPA chief. Spyro, Crash Team Racing. Ape Escape. Kagero: Deception II (great game). Lots of good games that I played quite a bit were from demo discs.
>>2901361
> do people even make demos?
Yeah just no more discs that I know of. Just downloadable demos.
>>2901383
Same here during the PS2 era. I have so many of those lying around. I remember one of them having really good music at the title screen.

Can someone spoonfeed me how to beat Map 16 in DemonSteele? I have the blue and red keycards and have killed every monster, I can see the red door in the top right of the minimap but how the fuck do I get there?

Capcom, or SNK?
Capcom vs SNK
>>2899686
I like capcom's fighting games more, but that's honestly just because they're easier to play. I can do a Hadouken 99.9% of the time, but in KoF doing a simple QCF+P never feels like a sure thing to me.
I like SNK's non-fighting games more than Capcom's, though.
I pulled my N64 out of the garage after 5 or 6 years of disuse and now it hardly plays games. I got Pokemon Snap working for about a half hour (in which time it operated perfectly) and then it cut out I haven't been able to get it to show the N64 logo at all.
Besides cleaning the contacts in the system (having ruled out the cartridge by now) with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, are there other things I should be doing to get an N64 back into shape? Any components which are prone to fail, or which I should test?
Thanks.
Why would you put it in your garage where it gets freezing cold and humid and all that? You couldn't keep it indoors in a closet or something? That poor nintendo....
Shame on you.
>>2898442
I know. It mostly wasn't up to me, just the conditions that my possessions ended up in whilst I was off to college. And I believe it's only been in the garage for a year or two, so I'm not sure that's even a major factor.
My mom doesn't know any better and I'm down to buy another N64 if I have to; just wanna know what I should do now that I'm having issues.
>>2898384
Try removing and cleaning the contacts on the Memory Expansion Pak or Jumper Pak. If these do not make good contact the system won't boot at all.
Is there a hotter N64 girl?
>>2897458
Ruto
I think I liked OoT so much as a kid because I wished I could be Link and marry Ruto.
>>2897462
This pic is actually from Hyrule Warriors, but you get the idea.
Let's talk about this game and all it's versions, everyone and their mother has played it, it has an universal appeal.
>favorite version
>favorite piece
>favorite spin-off
>favorite music theme
>>2897424
The objectively best (ie. highest skill ceiling) widely available version is TGM3. The best on-topic for /vr/ version is TGM2+.
>>2897424
Favorite version is any that doesn't have block holding. It's bullshit that's an official Tetris feature..
Fave piece is long one of course.
Fave spin off is Tetrisphere.
I like all the music, but pick C most often.
Favorite game type is Type B, 5 high and level 9 in the original. That's some crazy fun trying ti clear the blocks and stay alive.
>>2897445
>Favorite version is any that doesn't have block holding. It's bullshit that's an official Tetris feature..
Block holding raises skill ceiling because it requires more thought and lets you play at higher speeds.
Which retro Terminator games did you like? I loved the Genesis version of the arcade game. I got it for Christmas and it came bundled with a light gun rifle and played the shit out of it. I remember the level where you had to cover the SWAT van from the T1000 in the helicopter being hard as fuck.
I also played the side scroller, which I didn't like because I could never get past the first level. It wasn't until years later that I found out that you had to press up at the phone booth to complete the level. Then again, I only had the cartridge and no manual, so...

Robocop vs The Terminator on Megadrive
>EXCELLENT

That, T2 Arcade and the Mega CD game are the only ones worth playing.
