I been wondering, is there any way to faithfully replicate paddle controls on mame, asid from actually having to buy a paddle?
Unless you have a handheld thing that can spin 360 degrees, you aren't faithfully replicating paddle controls.
So, no, just like you can't accurately emulate a cycling game without foot pedals.
>>2921590
Do cycling controls even exist? It'd be neat to try emulating Prop Cycle.

Griffin Powermate.
Clickable. Infinitely rotatable.
In honor of the Red ranger killing his roommate with a sword(not the good original one that did gay porn but some other dumb later version) I thought we should have a retro Power Ranger game thread.
Pic related was actually really good.
The Megadrive game based on the movie > The Snes game> OPs game
>>2919184
tBh fAm pic related is the only one I have ever played so I will take your word on which are better. I just remember being very impressed by how good it was. Probably helps that I wasn't expecting much when I borrowed it from a friend back in the day.
>>2919194
damn power ranger casual. go download every single power ranger game right now motherfucker
Okay /vr/ I need some help on a JVC monitor I'm thinking about purchasing. I was looking at this eBay listing:
http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/141876099921
And I noticed that this monitor only has one input for video labeled Input A (with two plugs). does this mean that this monitor is composite only, or what?
This should go in the CRT thread.
That being said, it sounds like composite and S-video

I dunno why I never just picked up the rom but has anyone ever played the ZX-Spectrum version of Droids?
As a fan of the cartoon, is this one worth the time?

This is some serious oldfag shit.
>too old & obscure for /vr/
Guess it's time for seppuku.

Fuck off, baby.

Surprisingly fun platformer for the Game Gear. One of my favorites growing up.
Btw, whoever suggested Tales of Scheherezade in the last thread, thanks. I'm still just getting into it, but it seems neat. Reminds me of Crystalis, Zelda, and Dragon Quest rolled up into one. The music is pretty sweet too. It will take more than one sitting to play, so I don't know what to think yet.
>>2923281
Magic of Scheherezade is fucking awesome.
Words of advice.
* the fighter class is best for overworld but switch to magician before the boss battles...
* saint class is only useful for holy boots but can't gamble, and is meh in both swords and magic, use on the swamp level and never again
* don't plant the seeds in the past and go to the future to reap the harvest, it basically breaks the game since it gives you so much high level stuff that it takes the fun away
* stock up on troopers,...

Is it ok to start a retro vidya wallpaper thread here?
I think, go ahead and we'll see how it goes.
>>2922118
Aight. I was hoping people around here have some Dragon quest related stuff.
>>2922095
Well man, if you're gonna start then do it properly. Post at least 5 or 6 papes.
Contributing.
I hate this so much, it flips always wrong. Trading card game drives me really mad.
The last time i wish to throw my gameboy at the wall lays 10 yrs behind.
Is there ans way to manipulate this shit?
Hold down B just before it lands. Just kidding it doesn't actually do anything.
You hate RNG shit?
Never play X-COM or any SRPG.
In this one its really hard and internet people telling u can time it
Let's settle this for once and all: What's the best ninja game and why is it Ninja Gaiden?
>>2921290
Ninja Gayden
I personally like the retro Shinobi series more.
>>2921307
I'm sure that would be more clever if it even remotely resembled the title's pronunciation.

Found out today that the opening theme to Tenchu Stealth Assassins, 'Add'Ua', is sung in Hausa, an African language apparently.

So you /vr/troopers find anything interesting lately?
I found out that nearly every Playstation, since the original, has backwards compatibility with the original games. I knew I could play PS games on my PS3, but I didn't know that EVERY PS system could do it.
I also found out that early revs of the PS3 could play PS2 games, in HD. now, I have something else to hunt down, on Ebay.
>>2924430
>I have something else to hunt down, on Ebay
Good luck with that, anon. They have a high rate of failure.
What's the definitive version of Final Fantasy VII? I recently bought the game during a PSN sale, but I researched the game a bit more and now I'm not sure which version to play.
Apparently the Steam/PC version looks better, but the music is fucked up. There's a PS4 port that I know nothing about. And there's a retranslation patch for the PSX/Steam versions because apparently the original translation is bad? Not sure which one to go with here, anyone more knowledge want to chime in?
Emulate it. the Steam version has DRM bullshit.
>>2923907
I believe the PSN version is just an emulation of the original game, right? If so, play that.
Otherwise, emulate the PS1 version on PC. Don't worry about translation patches. The original translation isn't the best, but it's so well known and endearing that you should experience it at least once.
Don't play it at a ridiculously high resolution. It will look strange. 4x the original resolution at the max.
>>2923907
>music fucked up
It's MIDI, so there are options to make it sound better. They were Yamaha XG optimised I believe.
Is Lara Croft as recognizable of a character to the non-gaming crowd as Mario is? Would you call her one of the most recognizable video game characters of all time?
>>2923702
Yes. Maybe more so for those of us as teens/adults during the 90's. Today I'd say her character to non-gamers rides more on the movies only.
>>2923702
Definitely. She's probably one of the most iconic PSX characters in the west.
>>2923702
No. I guarantee that most non-gamers can't name her. They might be able to figure out that she's from a game, but that's it.
Where is the best place to buy consoles and games in the UK? I have bought some off ebay and from a local shop.
try the shop in chabberwickstonshire m8
Anyone?
In the UK you're shit out of luck.
My local shops are trying to sell common MD games for £15+ and ps1 games for £25+
just stick on eBay and check out local selling/tradings forums and also get schpock(I think that's the spelling, its a mobile app for local shit)
You will NEVER see Burai runes translated.
EPIC intro : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7WLG7myMMU
http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/burai_pc98
Oh hey, I remember submitting that on GOG.
Burai's gonna happen so long as the fan translation scene doesn't implode, leaving us without hackers/translators willing to patch J-PC games. PC-88 version would be ideal, but there's console ports worth looking into assuming the PC versions are way too much of a pain.

How does that affect me?
best pick up and play /vr/ games ?
any system.
F-Zero X
For me personally it's Sonic 3, I've played that game through at least once a year since I was 12 years old. I never liked the & Knuckles stages all that much though, I usually skip them.
snes in particular btw
