Just started playing this game couple of hours in.
My MC gets damage equal to damage he deals on hit why is that? On weaker enemies he oneshots himself i can't find the cause of it..
Also Suikoden thread i guess.
Uhhh... are you poisoned? That early on in the game there's no rune you can obtain that will do that to you, if even at all. Sounds fishy.

This is the game I'd want more to have than any other.
hey op I don't suggest playing this unless you've cleared the first game
I mean, it's a great game by itself, but a lot of the charm of SU2 is the charm of recruiting the old characters that you used to play with in the first and seeing what they're up to.
I'm just assuming you didn't play the first though, maybe you already did. If you didn't I highly suggest you go back and do that one first and save your data so you can recruit the secret character in 2
How did Nintendo do it?

Wizardry.
Seriously, I love this game so damn much. Every time I play it, it's just as fun as my first time.
>>2927814
highly advanced (for its time) dedicated 3D hardware and low poly, gouraud shaded models
Hazy Maze Cave was the best level
>What I’d really like to make is a game with a system that allows total freedom for the player. For example, despite it being a sword and sorcery world, the hero decides to do nothing and just quietly enjoy his life as a local baker in town. If everyone could take up different roles in some kind of computer networked game, I think it would be really fun.

That fucker greengrocer never does anything but bake and haggle over foragables/rare fish/butchered enemy carcasses.
He pays good though.

Lets try to keep it retro. Like between Dragon Quest 1 NES and Dragon Quest 1 SNES.
Isn't the GB version of DQ1 harder than both the NES and SNES versions?
>>2923285
No, the GBC version as the same as the SNES version gameplay wise.
>grind
>defeat miniboss
>optional collect/return princess
>grind
collect 3 objects
>grind
>defeat boss
they're both shit games
Sup /vr/, post your retro battlestations. I need inspiration for getting my "study" set up in my apartment. If you have a small space, I'm especially interested.
I plan on doing a retropie setup along with a dreamcast.
>pic obviously not of mine, just need something to get the thread started.
>what desk/entertainment center do you have?
>What chair do have?
>How are you storing your controllers?
> that TV

Anon, here's my smallish office. The panoramic shot makes it looks smaller than it actually is.

It's funny how all these hipster setups have really trash TVs most the time.
Which one do you prefer /vr/?

> Quake III all day erry day
No fucking contest. Quake III looked better, was more frenetic, and the tech+organic/hell fusion in the level themes were way more compelling than generic space installations and forests that were the themes of most of the maps in UT. Plus, the cast of id characters was way better than generic spacemuhreens and robotic retextures.
However, to prove I'm not some fanboy faggot I will take a moment to mention some cool shit that UT did:Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
quake 1, 3 is poopy. rockets are slow, railguns are baby mode, quake 3 just gets boring, UT is more fun for a lan game with friends. q1 still best dm though.
Quake 3 is deathmatch perfected. My favorite MP game of all time
Hey All
I know it's technically not a retro game, but I've tried to find a place that I could legitimately download this game, and haven't found it. Am I forced to go through eBay and Amazon for used copies, or is there super secret Retro download place where this game might be available?
tl;dr Is there a place where you can legit buy and download retro games?
Incidentally I recall sometime about 5 years ago people saying this game has the unique distinction of having no torrent seeds anywhere.
>>2932526
I think it may have been me. Still trying to find the fucking thing.
>>2932536
I see it hosted at a legit Polish hosting site, along with the 1.09 patch, BUT you'd need to charge your account (roughly a $1.50 for 2GB) in order to download it.

I love this town theme from Goemon's Great Adventure. The night version is good too.

The Oddworld games are like 50 cents on Steam right now.
I think the art style in these games is ugly as fuck but are they good games?
Yes. You're going to be disputed a lot about your opinion on the art style though
The Steam versions are crap and don't even work. I recommend tracking down the PS1 discs instead.

Fair enough, I just personally don't like the look of it. Was thinking of buying the bundle that includes Stranger's Wrath

Recently got a hold of a relative old NES system, got some games for it from a place called GameOver games. system works wasnt stored in an attic or anything, but some games work fine right of the bat ex: Solar Jetman, but other games like The Immortal, after having to fiddle with the cartiridge, blowing into it, pushing up an down on nes cartridge arm, will look fine, but will freeze in a scene, or get random junk letter spawning across the screen, other errors include flashing red light, or power light on but gray screen, etc. i have heard blowing into it (cartridge) someone...

The 72 pin connector on the original models bent from the pressure of pushing the games down over time, you can buy a replacement set online for quite cheap and they aren't hard to install. I would highly recommend a top loader eventually though, much more sturdy.
>>2930612
Maintenance I've done on NES cartridges/system was checking the pin connector like >>2930628 said, and using Brasso and a rag on the cartridge to clean it up. I think the connector in mine was replaced before I bought it, so it works fine, just be prepared for cartridges to be picky about being put in or taken out, as they get stuck pretty often in mine and require some hard pulling to remove.
Go with 90% alcohol instead of 70% or, if you have a Nintendo screwdriver (not the tri-wing bit but the other one), open up the cart and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser.
Hey /vr/, let's have a thread dedicated to this 1998 game, made by the same company that would go on to make grand theft auto. It's a pretty good game for the n64 and needs more love. What do you guys think of it?
never played it despite being avid for the n64
I remember this game being depressing, I'd much rather play silicon valley by the same team.
>>2928479
How well does this game emulate?
Are the Game Boy Dragon Quest games any good?
>>2927762
Yes, Dragon Warrior Monsters is a very legit competitor to Pokemon, and all of the remakes for the Gameboy refresh the games in such a way to make them perfectly accessible without sacrificing what makes the game what it is.
Yeah.
Probably better than the originals.
Hey /vr/
I'm in the puzzle mood. Any recommendations?
I'm going through Suzuki Bakuhatsu which is actually pretty fun. A bit hard because of the moonspeak but I can manage without the hints.
Tetris

any one specifically?

Post terrible and or deceptive American cover art.
Is it deceptive because it says Mega Drive instead of Genesis?

I feel like I'm neglecting my genesis, but I can't find any good games. Suggestions?

Wow those are some bad Genesis games how did you accumulate this collection? Give Last Vikings a serious go or Shining in the Darkness I guess.
