Games you played on a whim/only because of the name and what happened from thereon
>Legend of the Mystical Ninja
>Might be cool...
>Haha this is actually fun
>Oh there's a sequel? Japan only?
>Ganbare Goemon...
>Wait a minute, I played this N64 one!
And that's how Ganbare Goemon became one of my favourite series of all time.
Less happy one
>Gods?...

This is such a great series. Konami sadly doesn't try however.
We only got 4 entries from this franchise. Shit, I'm glad they gave us any
>>2948240
I'm pretty sure there's 4 just on the super famicom anon, not counting the n64, msx, famicom...
>>2948258
He's talking about the ones we got in the west in english.
he's forgetting about Sarawareta Ebisumaru, but that one was only released in Europe and in the year 2000 on a GBC compilation cart, the actual game is from 1991.
Should I play it?
>>2946532
Yeah, it's fun.
How has Smuggler's Run aged? Should I play it?
>>2946680
pretty fun with a friend.

It is bothersome.
Why is 3DO sailor moon game missing sailor Saturn?
It is because of Sega Saturn console got full version?
Or do I need cheet code to unlock her?
>>2946506
Sailor Saturn was my favorite after Sailor Jupiter.
Didn't know there was a Sailor Moon game for Saturn, pretty cool.
I'm confused, does this game use drawn sprites or cgi graphics? The only sailor moon I've seen on saturn used cgi.
So we're all agreed that the computer stacks the decks and rigs the coin tosses, right?
Dunno about that, but I remember someone hacked Yugioh Forbidden Memories to show the opponent's cards and found the AI actively cheats by playing cards it didn't have
>>2946113
>we're all agreed
Do you know where you are?
>>2946113
Proofs?
Well hello there, /vr/.
I recently came into possession of all of the US PC Gamer 1999 issues with all of the corresponding CDs (see pic). These issues contain everything from contemporary reviews of Thief and SS2 to GOTY awards for games like Half-Life and Starcraft 1. There's even (retrospectively) hilariously optimistic features on games like Daikatana and Duke Nukem Forever. Flipping through the mags and seeing ads for "new" games like Baldur's Gate right beside a preview for Deus Ex is brilliantly surreal. It's a bit of vidya history in one...

Scan and upload them please.
I know nothing of scanning though, so it may damage them.
>>2942232
I want to do this - if no scans exist already - but I have the same issue. I don't know of a way to do so without damaging them.
I'd be interested to see what's on the CDs, I still have the CD from the March 1997 issue laying around but I believe my copy of that issue is long gone
Why hasn't there been a new Parappa (or preferably Lammy) game in years?
because Guitar Hero and Rock Band made everyone realize just how fucking stupid the entire concept really is.
stay after school and learn to play an actual instrument instead.
>>2940325
>learn to play an actual instrument instead
Don't wanna don't wanna DON'T WANNA
>>2940316
After a certain point a lot of rhythm games banked on using some sort of peripheral to play instead of a normal controller and I guess they just didn't feel it would be profitable to make a new one.
Post a better Castlevania game than this.
Protip: You can't.
Hard mode: no Metroidvania shit.
Castlevania 3.
That sure was easy, OP.
Rondo of Blood is way better
My buddy is letting me borrow his N64 and I'm having fun, but I had a question. He has games like Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 with saves already on them. I want to play the games fresh, but don't want to delete his saves. Is there any way to do this?
>>2947562
He needs to keep three saves for each game?
Not really. If your borrowing the stuff, you might as well just play through the games in one sitting or leave the system on/not shutting it off. Or you could buy your own copies if you plan to get your own system eventually anyway.
AFAIK, both ocarina and sm64 have multiple save slots.
ROLF has gotten hold ofMONOMATE.
>>2947037
ps2 is a frustrating game to play in my opinion
I don't think it aged well at all
Looks up maps, it's not worth figuring this shit out. Phantasy Star 1's mazes were at least rewarding and fun to figure out, PSII is just frustrating.
Ayy niggas picket up a gameboy for 5 dollarydoos and a pocket for 8,bought it for resale I aleeady have an sp

Get out
baka desu senpai awh shit thats my shit nigga
Chicken, watermelon, malt liquor, and a welfare check
What is your favorite computer RPG anon?
Mine is Arcanum. Tarrant was one of the best cities ever made quest-wise and story-wise in an RPG.
>>2945372
Fallout 2, the first one is great too but the time limit always bothered me, 2 nailed the humor way better too. I also love that you have to be selective of how you build your character, you cant be great at everything and often specialization completely changes the way you approach an area.
>>2945372
Arcanum it's like a mix of shit and diamonds.
The combat sucks, and there's plenty of combat.
The game is ugly as fuck. Even moving your character sucks.
But everything else it's great.
I don't even know what Troika were doing. At the same time they made ToEE wich is beautiful and have one of the best RPG combat ever.
>>2945372
This game...so much replay value...such races...wow
How does this game manage to have such a bullshit difficulty that relies on a lot of trial and error yet somehow doesn't have that diminish its enjoyment?
>>2943390
Because trial and error can be fun if well designed.
I think it's the way that everything feels original and different throughout the game, so it doesn't get old. Also, even though it seems to be badly programmed into the game, i love the music.
>>2943390
Because you have save states
Does anyone feel the Resident Evil movies ruined the tone of the franchise? It's not like the sequels after and including 4 are bad (they're fun), but the atmosphere and storyline went from a gristly tale of horror and survival to a dumbed down action movie. It's all too linear and monotonous, and even the protagonist designs (except Ada and Leon) look bland and uninspired.
>>2941091
>resident evil
>5th gen
>n64, ps1, DC
>not 2d
REEEEEE NOT RETRO
NEVER WILL BE
MOOOOOOODS
>>2941097
I'm talking about the course of the franchise which started in 1996, nigger.
>>2941106
Tell it to the ban appeal page faggot
As someone who absolutely loves JRPG, I never actually played any BoF games, where should I start/which order should I play the games?
Probably III and IV. I haven't played those ones but if Breath of Fire I is more bare bones than BoFII then the first two are easily skippable.
>>2936064
You could probably play them all if you really wanted to.
I always liked II.
>>2936064
It might not hurt to play 1 - 4 in order. If you "absolutely love JRPGs", the flaws in the series shouldn't bug you too much.
My personal favorites are 2 and 4.
When does the game open up? Playing through it for the first time and I just beat Reno last night. When do you get to the world map and start really moving the plot along?
>>2935841
Getting out of Midgar takes 3 to 4 hours.
>>2935964
He's part of the newer generation, have some patience with him. Never showed a youngster some music to be asked about when does the song begin? (just cuz the first 30 seconds didn't have any vocals)
I'm also playing this for the first time.
OP, make sure you set the ATB system to be active during animations and increase the battle speed by like a third. It makes the game so much better holy shit.
