I just got this version of Pokemon Red in the mail today, can anybody recommend me other good Japanese Game boy games?
Assuming you can read moon, the original Super Robot Wars

I hate this place sometimes.
ITT: shitty games you got in your childhood, part 2.

this is a good game D:
Yeah I don't think many people consider this a bad game.
Here's mine though.

ITT: Shitty Sequels
Da fuck, there's a 2?
I loved the first one even though in retrospect it was kinda bad. Driving and Light Gun sessions were the best.

>in retrospect it was kinda bad
No it's one of the best ps1 games actually
>>2966320
It was above average at best. I consider DHWAV to be proof that we could've had a full-3D GTA game on the PSX
Big sprites are beautiful, naturally, but the same is equally true for small sprites and I think that is often overlooked. It takes a lot of talent to make a distinct, recognizable and good looking small sprite and I love it when it works.
The early days of the Game Boy saw a lot of good examples, as seen in pic related. They respected the small screen resolution and made something fitting for it. Later on sprites got bigger and in my opinion quite often too big, examples of such are also present in pic related. SML2 is an example of that, arguably Metroid 2.
What are you favorites?

>that fucking donkey kong
I never understood why they made pre-rendered shitty 3D models and then turned them into sprites. DKC games always looked like shit to me.
>>2965850
The first DKL was definitely bad, but they managed to make it work in the successive games. Smaller sprits and less detailed backgrounds. And the animations of the main characters are very detailed. One of the few occassion where I actually like the prerendered sprites.
>>2965834
Game boy and Nes are a gold mine for these.
Here a few of my game boy favorites that haven't been posted yet.
>>2965850
Totally agre with you. I can understand the appeal of pre-rendered sprites, since it can look awesome if done right. But those 90's 3D models were awfull and looked awfull as sprites too.
DKC always looked too messy to my taste.
I'm a man, but I have this thing about loving to play as female characters, especially princesses.
Aside from the obvious racing and fighting games, what are your favourite retro games where you can play as a cute girl? The cuter the better. Bonus for her being the main/sole playable character, and double bonus for princess.

Me too. Phantasy Star is great. Valis series as well. Monster World IV is a must. There's also pic related, but how cute you think she is will probably vary.

Fun as fuck though, don't know japanese but it's surprisingly accurate so I can make assumptions based on when i watched FOTNS.

wikipedia page has nothing but kanji
searching with the kanji tittle only shows more kanji and 100 pics of the cover art
OP doesnt offer a single screenshot, romanized title...
>>2965746
if youre emulating, why not post some screens, if it doesnt have a roman name, can you link the ROM? or just the nippon letters that its listed under in ROM sites?

Tell me about Arc the lad 1, 2 and 3
If i play these games i would die?
The first and third are okay, but the second is the fucking tits. Especially Arc Arena.
>spent innumerable days and save slots creating and leveling teams
>>2965329
Arc 2 would be extremelyenjoyable.
But yeah, play them, it's a great series with a surprisingly good pacing and characters, especially shotgun ninja Char.
Really good take on the classic hero story with a pretty daring development and ending too, the only flaw of the games besides being pretty easy is that Arc 2 is extremely slow when it comes to battles, but the great pixel art, content and pacing more than makes up for it, and I'm not one who likes standard RPGs, but Arc games are very...

The very definition of reseller scum. Knows fuck all about what he's selling and doesn't do any research, but at the same time has no shame about asking $200 for common shit that he probably can't even test.
When you think of resellers, what do you imagine they look like?

True story: I put out an old beatupGBAwithout a battery door or screen overlay and handful of 5 games (nothing special, probably the only noteworthy one was MetroidFusionon a table as part of a yardsale I was having. Ideal situation, I sell it all to an actual kid for $20 bucks. I had them all marked indivually at $15 for the GB, $5 each for the games though.
Instead, the first one who has a look at it was the fattest man I'd seen in a long long time. Had the neckbeard going, too.
>Hands me a business card that he's buying games, toys, military collectibles
>"Do you have any other games?"
>"Yes, but none that I'm selling."
>Looks over the GBA stuff but nothing else
>"I can give you $10 for it all."
>"Priced as marked." Yeah I'm biased, but I only wanted to cut a deal for a kid.
>"I wouldn't be able to get much for the Game Boy Advance, it's scratched up and missing the battery cover."
>"Priced as marked."
I never did sell that GBA at the yard sale. I just didn't have many kids come by, despite me being on a busy street in the middle of town. When I found out my nephew's new hobby was watching gaming videos on youtube, I just gave it to him and he loved it.
Like the guy in the chicken suit from Toy Story 2.
This is a weird idea for a thread, but:
Ports and/or versions of games that were not as famous but were the better version.
Super Bubsy for Windows (PC, obviously) fixes a lot of the retarded momentum and other physics issues, had twice the definition, and had an intro animation (from the shitty animated pilot)...
Not a good game, but it's less shitty.
