Collectors, I need your advice.
What's the most you ever paid for a game?
Currently eyeing a rare 4th gen title that's $383.
It would be the last game I want to collect for this console but I mostly want it for its rarity and not its quality.
How would you play it?
>>3340145
i would check if it works on flashcarts, buy one and copy the game to it, replace the plastic so it doesnt have an SDcard opening, put a new label matching the rare game and display it on my shelf
>How would you play it?
i would play it with my other flashcart
Over a grand on two separate occasions. To be fair, both are the only currently documented copies to exist of their particular versions (they are almost certainly not one of a kind, though, just incredibly rare and at present are not available online).
Most I've paid for a game was $400 for a CIB MUSHA. Most I've paid for anything /vr/ related was $700 for a TurboDuo that had its seal broken but arguably was never taken out of the box.
20 years ago today NiGHTS released in Japan.
>>3340115
And it sucked even more than the Sonic games.
>>3340140
I'm sorry you feel that way. Maybe give the game another chance?
>>3340151
Nah.
I'm talking like Wizardry, Etrian Odyssey, that kind of game.
What is the VERY BEST one of all?
They all have different things to offer, so there's no absolute best.
Even Rogue (the original roguelike) has its own strong points compared to say Nethack. Neither is better though. Rogue is ideal if you just want a simple and quick tactical game, while Nethack is something to spend years discovering tricks and ways to exploits situations.
Shiren the Wanderer
Do you prefer playing original versions or remakes for classic JRPGs that tend to be unforgiving and slower paced on Famicom? Think Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Megami Tensei, etc.
Using save states and speeding up gameplay on an emulator is cheating.
The original versions for nostalgia which is the only reason to play a /vr/ JRPG anyway.
Original versions for the sake of more fully understanding the game in terms of its place in gaming history.

Specifically, for FF1, I like the PS1 version better. Mainly for the fact that you won't whiff at a target that just died. It might have also fixed all the broken spells and such that just plain didn't work.
Doomguy wants to watch tv but there's a big bug in the way.
Help him /vr/!
Doomguy should challenge Tempo to a dance-off.
Since N64 emulation is bad, what are good N64 games which aren't emulatable? I feel like I'd like to get N.
>>3339176
>which aren't emulatable
All of them.
But Kirby 64, RE2, Paper Mario (I mean it works, but there are so many glitches), Killer Instinct, Mario Golf and Tennis, Jet Force Gemini all come to mind as shit that either doesn't work or works with a bunch of horrible glitches.
Surely you can just get a Wii or Wii U and play them on VC, hacked or not.
>>3339276
>All of them
Kinda too broad statement
The story behind how Sega fell out of the console market. But, why did Sega start ignoring all of it's IPs except for Sonic? The last Panzer Dragoon and Jet Set Radio game (not including the HD remake) came out around 2003-2004, when they were a third party developer. Not to mention NiGHTs and Streets of Rage, which died pretty quickly. What happened internally such that they started to ignore classic retro IPs that were not only well-reviewed, but were pretty succesful?
>>3338594
Fuck
*We all know the story about how Sega fell out of the console market.

Selling Sonic's to autistic manchildren is risk free money
So did nothing decent come out of this?
Did SSF used it as a base?
>>3338521
Cassini was the cracked version of GiriGiri, was a good emu at the time, lot of forums at the time had forbidden discussion of it. Did they steal the code or just reverse engineer it?
>>3338521
Whoa! Is this real?
I'm pretty sure SSF predates the whole CyberDisc affair, so probably not?
SSF's developer seems fairly secretive, but he did used to work in game development, and I've heard people suggest (with little else besides his background as evidence) that he may have used some non-public information that he gained from that position to help develop SSF, but I think that's mostly just conjecture.

Ok, sorry about that, both keys are pretty close.
its just a theory

This was without any doubt, the best pirate strategy\rpg i ever played.
It's a shame that i can't get it anywhere and it only runs in windows XP.
There should be an emulator of this game or something cause it's really good.
>>3338343
Tell me more anon. Genuinely interested
>>3338343
anonpls, at least ctrl C some info about the game, is that so fucking hard?

Any cool retro games with Islamic/Arabian/Persian overtones?
I only know about Prince of Persia, Doki Doki Panic, Shantae, and The Magic of Scheherezade. I'm sure there's lots more though!

Oil Ocean Zone on Sonic 2 btw
You guys ever play Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack or one of the Pokemon ones?
I played Tetris Attack religiously as a kid and got pretty good at it, nowhere near the level of actual masters who traded techniques online but I could slaughter the hardest difficulty without breaking a sweat. My dad still plays it almost every day and texts me his speed records every now and then.
Best puzzle series ever.
fuck mario. he killed panel de pon
What do you think about any cancel point combos in bloody roar 2? Do they make or break the game?
To unlock it, you have to beat 16 characters in survival mode. Then select it under custom match. This alternate mode allows you to faint or extend combos by cancelling attacks by pressing R1 (guard button).
