mario 1 physics is borked
sound is kind of bad
>>3000613
>mario 1 physics is borked
You mean it isn't faithful to the NES version? Or that both games have the same irritating physics?
>>3000630
it isint faithful to the nes version, when breaking a block the jump follows through after the brick is broken
>see this
>realize that sega channel used its own power supply too
Where does it end? A genny with the CD and 32X already have three big wall warts, add Sega Channel and you have four of the damn things. Is there yet more? Do the Karaoke unit or some other add-on use their own power supply too? Does any other system come close to having so many power supplies?
>>3000475
>not owning a first party sega power strip
>>3000475
Just buy one of these.
Great purchase since most consoles from the early gen had the bulky external power supplies.
>>3000487
I like how they say 'or' at the end, to remind you that even the official Sega power strip couldn't power all of those devices plus your TV and stereo
>starts DQ 1
>thinks it will be so much fun like FF1
>It's literally trash and I can't stand it after 5 minutes
Tell me DQ 1 is good enough.
>>3000248
You should try Phantasy Star 1. FF1 really isn't a very good game either, but as you discovered that's all it takes to be worlds better than Dragon Quest.
Phantasy Star blows them both out of the water. Go now, don't waste more time on DQ.
>>3000274
dq2 is a little too open I think
Is this game perfect?
>>3000005
I think it is. If only you'd posted this a few seconds sooner, then so would have been the get.
surely we've never had this discussion before
>>3000008
Damn, would have been fucking stellar
And yeah, I genuinely can't think of a single flaw with this game
People bring up how annoying the crying is, but I'm willing to excuse that since it's a punishment.
How does /vr/ display or store their collection?
My new set up is pic related. Works well for my relatively decent collection I have going. I'm considering screwing the alphabetical order crap and just doing a most played/best games thing. Having shit like BTTF on NES and Bob the Builder on PS1 at the top of my stacks is kind of dumb. How would you guys reccomend sorting them?
>>2999132
Absolutely not like that. That pussy repellent will have your shit covered in dust, yellowed and faded in almost no time. Keep your precious in a cool dark cave where potential mates won't see it.
>>2999312
Any woman who would act like that is not worth having in your life. What are you going to do, hide your favorite hobby and do it in secret for the entire time you are courting this woman? Not worth it. There are plenty of women who are either into, or do not mind/care about retro video games. Enter a relationship with these women, not the kind of women who hate your hobbies, and wish you would stop enjoying them.

>tfw I have my collection stashed in a room with one window, always shut with curtains drawn
>tfw gf opens window when I'm not around
>what's the big deal anon I just wanted to let some sunlight in
I want the LT so bad
>>2998970
I bet you there's like a million visual novels in this picture.
I'm trying out Hellfire right now. It's fun, though the Genesis version is a more-balanced (and better) game.
I need some fun co-op games to play with a bro, what games do you recommend, /vr/? Specifically for S/NES, Genesis or PSX.
Ganbare Goemon series.
All the side-scroller ones have co-op.
There are so many good co-op games for the SNES.
Super Smash TV
Turtles in Time
Contra 3
Wild Guns
Sunset Riders
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs
Pocky & Rocky 1 & 2
I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch.

Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon
Anyone own a Sega Saturn? I'm thinking about picking one up but I know Japanese games are significantly cheaper than American ones, but having a mixed Japanese-American collection triggers my autism. Is there any benefit to owning all American or all Japanese?
Are you retarded? Serious question, being afraid of mixing US and JP libraries is one of the most retarded complaints I ever read around here.
>>2998796
>having a mixed Japanese-American collection triggers my autism
Collect only Japanese games then. You'll be able to get a much bigger library, much cheaper, and 95% of them will come in standard CD or Double CD cases (USA cases were a travesty) - and with colour manual to boot.
Only thing you'll be losing is English text on the maybe ten localized RPGs.
I don't think anyone here owns a saturn. Sorry anon
For some reason I now have a Dreamcast BBA (HIT-0401). What can I do with it?
Throw it on ebay for about $350 BiN

Did people realize how great Super Metroid was at the time? I feel it only acquired the respect it does in the last five or six years.
No, it was popular when it came out.
What happened is that there was a time when people pretended all 2D games were not as good as 3D, and probably you're someone born in the 90s, and having little to no memories about pre-5th gen.
The same happened to SOTN.
>>2998625
Metroid was hot shit. Both games before SM sold well, and then they came out with SM which was bigger and better. It was kind of a big deal.
>>2998625
That's a stunningly ill-informed opinion. You couldn't even be bothered to Google sales figures or critical response before you came to that conclusion?
Bought pic related when I was about 13 and I didn't even know who Devo were, it just looked like a reasonable point 'n' click based on the box
Confusing plot, a weird flying monster called Turkeymonkey, pre-rendered locales with FMV NPCs, a teenage fapworthy scene looking through a girl's bedroom window, Devo music playing, no idea how to complete the game so just gave up on it.
It probably sucks balls even if I didn't realise it at the time.
>>2998370
I love the soundtrack they released for that.
This was my first RPG.
I think it was made by some hungarian developer.
Low budget and repetitive but somehow beautiful.
>>2998370
When I was a kid I played this weird game called microman's crazy computers. I just looked it up and still have no idea how my dad got his hands on it.
looks legit

That's probably the actual FVII for the NES.
Is it even worth buying retro games from Game Stop?
nope
use thrift stores or ebay
>giving gamestop money in any form
>>2998186
I didn't even know GameStop did retro, unless you count maybe Gamecube games.
Just finished playing through pic related and I loved it. The little background details, enemies and personality of the world the AM1 team put into it is just charming. I'd kill for an RPG set in the Golden Axe universe (or just another proper beat em up honestly).
Anyone else feel this way about a game world that never got a chance to shine/be fleshed out?
>>2997973
Always wanted to see a Croc game that turned out to be good. You could tell there was a lot of love put into the games especially in the soundtracks but they never quite reached their full potential.
>>2997973
Have you tried Golden Axe Warrior, OP?
>>2998181
Not yet, I've only played GA 1-3 and the arcade titles.
Are there any genuinely good options for DOS emulation on a handheld device? A graphical frontend would be ideal, but it's not a huge deal if I have to plug it in and set everything up via command line at a computer.
There are hundreds upon hundreds of hours of old RPGs I'd love to be able to pick up and play anytime, from Exile: Escape from the Pit to Wizardry. Not to mention platformers that I'd much rather play with a controller than a keyboard if possible. I don't really care about being able to emulate other games on it.
>>2997947
>from Exile: Escape from the Pit to Wizardry.
Exile is a Mac OS and Windows game series. You generally want keyboard and mouse for it.
The IBM port of Wizardry is crap, play the SFC or PS1 port if you don't have a keyboard.
>>2997986
Oh, I only played the Avernum remake of Exile and assumed the original was DOS based on graphics. Whoops.
UMPCs with Windows 98 installed in native mode?
