The nostalgia is strong with these games

I played the shit out of the first two, but never got to the thirdwhich is actually not retro but w/e.Was it as fun?
Not as good as the other two, but stil decent nontheless
Not as good as the other two, but still decent nontheless
Controls are in hidden in a slot for your hands, All the classics... Defender, Pac Man, Elevator Action, Ghost and Goblins, Rally X, Time Pilot, Donky Kong.... And heaps more. Took me about 2 months to build, what do ya think?
It looks uncomfortable to play, like you'd have to sit very low and hands would be in an awkward position to hit the buttons. The screen looks like you'd have to lean over the table to get a good look at what's going on too which is made worse by uncomfortable hand positioning because of button layout. But I'm not hating on you or the table. Good job on building that, especially in 2 months.
Looks pretty cool :)
What'd you use for everything?
When will we see this neglected masterpiece brought into the 21st century?
>>3012231
It's on the virtual store. Wtf does
>brought into the 21st century?
mean?
also
>neglected
>masterpiece
>>3012231
Please go back to /b/, or at the least put effort.
>>3012231
What the fuck is your post even supposed to mean??
Does vr approve of hooking pcs to retro crt for steam big picture? Sure small text is hard to read but it is actually pretty cool.
Pic related
yeah but it doesn't matter what other people think of how you enjoy your games.
Here's something to have roms loadup from steam, it was a little buggy when i lasted used it but still pretty cool once you get all the settings right

I don't know what Steam Big Picture is but I'm pretty sure it's not retro. I like your Vectrex though, and those graphics look like an old-school RPG.
Basically if it was on a computer that used composite out like a C64 or MSX or something then it's entirely appropriate to put it on an SDCRT if it was on VGA/RGB like Amiga or DOS use a VGA CRT
Please supply your favorite turn based strategy games. Any platform. I want to broaden my horizons.

Dungeon Defenders
Ball Bullet Gun
A fun, not-oft mentioned strategy game translated by AGTP. Instead of actual war, it's...paintball or something. Fun and cute.
Pokemon TCG 2
What are some great retro games that are still ridiculously cheap?
Picked up this bad boy for 99 cents.
>>3012041
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey thats a prrrrreeeeeeeetty good game.
That's probably because most people still don't know about AKI and their legacy in terms of pro wrestling games.
Nice deal op
Super Mario World?
What are some games with multiplayer mods?
Posting another example.
>>3011990
Duck Tales 2 I think has a mod that adds a second player with Darkwing Duck's sprite. Off the top of my head, that's about all I can think of /vr/-wise.
>>3011990
I tried this out the other day. It's certainly interesting, but some parts can be pretty annoying. The penguin race, anything involving cannons, etc.
i dunno
had to go through this like 20 times before i realized youre supposed to die
Make up mock battles involving /vr/ characters. Who would win, Doom's demons or the first two generations of Pokemon?
>>3011826
A more interesting question would be can Doomguy survive against a world overrun with every type of Pokemon?
Might as well get this one out of the way:
Joe Musashi vs Ryu Hayabusa
>>3011948
Ryu, but it would be closer than most fans would admit.
Hi /vr/,
I need to play an exciting action game today. Which one of these is the correct choice?
Thanks in advance
>>3011451
Earthworm Jim.
Ninja Gaiden should excite you.
>>3011451
I've been really into Mars Matrix lately, but any of those is a great choice
Hello!

Pffft!
>general Dripik did nothing wrong

Hehe, he did the thing.
Best retro handheld console?
eh....None of them were very good desu. I only bought into the GB after they released the Color. _That_ was a handheld; not this pea-soup shit or the parade of battery-munching fuckoffs. The Gameboy Pocket is prolly my minimum acceptable standard for a distinct handheld (in that sense the Turbo Handheld doesn't even count; it's just a miniaturized TG-16).
Why do people even bother making threads like this? You know what the answer is going to be.
Game BoyAdvance
I want to play some retro PC games, especially pre/non-Windows games. I know about DOSbox, and have played games on it before, but I also know that some games didn't have DOS versions, or had DOS versions that were inferior to the Amiga versions, etc.
So, where do I start with becoming knowledgeable about all the different computers from the late 80s through the early/mid 90s?
My grandparents had a computer back then and let me play games on it, but they installed everything, and it was primarily nearing the end of that time in 1995-1996. Most of the games...

I'm not sure I understand the question. What you're asking seems to involve a simple Google / Wikipedia search. Older computer platforms are extensively documented, and Wikipedia alone should be able to fill you in on hardware specs. Wikipedia has templates for listing consoles by generation, computers included. There are a few such templates at the bottom of the Amiga article, for instance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga You could also click on any of the category links at the bottom to see a listing...

All sources are filled with bogus. Just grab emulators and game sets and try stuff out.
>>3011060
That list at the bottom is part of what I was looking for. Now I just need to find out what good games there were for those other systems, find emulators, and so on. I should be able to do all that myself.
Thanks for the help, and sorry for wasting your time, /vr/.
why dont RPGs let you fly across an entire planet in spaceships anymore
Too confusing
Hold right to win
Because they want to appeal to western audiences who grew up playing shooters and action games by "keepin' it real" by keeping the camera right on the character's back the whole time.
in ff8 you could crash into buildings like 911
Which death option do you prefer?
>Once a character dies, they are dead for good the rest of the playthrough
>Characters die but can be brought back to life after battle with gold
>>3010904
Wizardry had a nice in-between, in that if one of your party members died, you had to *attempt* to raise them. There was a spell you could learn later in the game to raise them, or you had to haul their corpse and equipment up to the surface to the temple to try. If the res worked, you got your character back with no loss of ability. If the res failed, then either the corpse was left and you could try again, or the corpse turned to dust (random chance) and the character was gone forever.

I like the idea of a character being gone forever, but I often find myself getting emotionally attached to them. I've been known to load a much older save just to have that character again.
If you die in the game, you die irl
