Blood threadBlood threadAlso, how do I get deathwish working? that mod looks amazing, but I've never modded a game before and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Help if you feel like it but otherwise, Blood thread
I finished blood pretty recently, and it was an amazing experience. The combat is much more satisfying than duke3d (I haven't yet played Shadow Warrior) and there are some fantastic moments. Like when you burst into a room, dual wielding napalm launchers and just tearing shit up. Caleb is the most badass and most underrated protagonist of all the build engine games. People like to bash this game's level design (which there is nothing wrong with) and hitscan enemies (there are only two types), but overall it is arguably one of the best games of the 90's
Well, Death Wish comes with a readme file explaining in detail how to install it, whether you're using DOSbox or not.
Just make sure your Blood is running fine before installing it.

Here's some copypasta. I did these steps to get Death Wish working. Looks like it's complicated but it's not, simple stuff.
1. Go to moddb, download Death Wish, extract it to your One Unit Whole Blood gog folder.
2. Right click the Death Wish shortcut, click on properties and fix the 'Target' and 'Start in' location to where your gog One Unit Whole Blood folder is is. For me, as an example, this is as so:
>Start in: "C:\GOG Games\One...

What's some good medieval-style grimdark retro vidya?
What makes Faxanadu so particular grimdark or medieval compared to other games?
Diablo should fit in any case.

Just look at the art style. It doesn't look like most other overdesigned fantasy games with in-your-face religious symbolism and exaggerated postures.

What else would you do? Naturally you're gonna try it. Besides, I think a Toad tells you.
What is the highest amount of money you have paid for a retro game?
Personally I wouldn't spend over $100 for a retro game. I own a couple factory sealed games I bought like 10 years ago that might be worth some money now, I only paid $20 a piece for them.
I'm really not comfortable shelling out a lot of cash for one game. It makes me wonder what kind of security is in place to prevent counterfeits. Do these 20+ year old games really remain hard to counterfeit? I imagine people are pretty good in modern times at recreating labels and making high quality fakes.
Approximately $5
This thread gun b good. Can't wait for that remorse kicking in.

Alright /vr/, I want to replay the classic resident evils that came out in the late 90s. What are their best versions?
For the first, does the remake supersedes the original or, is it still worth to play the 1996 one?
If so, which version should I go for, PSX, Saturn or DS?
For the second and the third I have no clue and that's where I need your input the most, what are the best versions of those two?
Finally REmake, can I safely go for the pc version or the gc/wii version is better?
RE1 doesn't have a definite version. They all have pros and cons.
PS1, Saturn and PC are all fine. Just stay away from the "Director's Cut: Dual Shock" version (the regular Director's Cut is fine) as it comes with new musics which are largely regarded as way worse than the originals.
The DS version is good, as long as you play it in classic mode and not in the pretty bad new DS mode, although it's almost a different game altogether as it has all new 3D models, new zombie AI, and a couple of new moves for the characters. It's good,...

The remakes are totally their own game. Newfags dont understand re blew up over night because it was a CHEESY ZOMBIE MOVIE. I rented it the weekend it came out (long box first edition). My friends and i werent like WOW NEXT LEVEL EVERYTHING it was more like HAHAHA THIS IS AWESOME. The franchise started to suck when it took itself seriously.
Playing the first 3 res games with any other frame of mind is a fools game.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.

thank
I have a beautiful small CRT but:
• the only ports on it are SCART and antenna
• to play on it, I need to first turn it on, then adjust the volume, then change the channel to the right one from the remote control
• I don't have the original remote control so I have to use my phone
Is there some trick that could automate the process? Or better yet, can I tear the fucker down and buy some converter that I can just hook up to the cathode cannon? It'd make a really neat monitor too, so if there's a way to use it as a display for a computer that'd...

Guys I want to know all about the xrgb mini.
Exactly how good it is at replicating scanlines? Can anyone post closeup/highres pics? Not bait, I'm wondering whether to pull the trigger

PLEASE TALK ABOUT SYSTEM SHOCK 2 UNTIL I BECOME EXCITED ENOUGH TO FINALLY PLAY IT AGAIN
PERHAPS CONVINCE ME TO FINALLY ATTEMPT A PSI OPS RUN
I AM POSTING THREAD THEME MUSIC AS WELL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKa46RxoxAw&fmt=18
PERSONALLY I NEVER PLAYED SS2 UNTIL IT WAS ALMOST A DECADE OLD, BUT I FIND IT TO BE A FANTASTIC FPS/RPG/HORROR TITLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED TO IT'S SPIRITUAL SUCCESSORS, WHICH STARTED AS PRETTY OKAY AND MAYBE EVEN PRETTY GOOD WITH BIOSHOCK AND THEN ENDED AS SOMETHING COMPARABLE TO WHAT I LEAVE IN THE TOILET WITH BIOSHOCK INFINITE
OFTEN PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT NOSTALGIA GOGGLES BUT I IN FACT PLAYED SS2 AFTER BIOSHOCK AND FIND IT TO BE THE SUPERIOR OF THE TWO
SS2 IS ALSO ACTUALLY SCARY AND BIOSHOCK IS NOT
>PERHAPS CONVINCE ME TO FINALLY ATTEMPT A PSI OPS RUN
Don't focus too much on it. Most powers are pretty pants. Save up for the psi sword, spending some points on survivability and the wrench early on.
I NEVER PLAYED IT BUT I HEARD IT WAS QUITE GOOD OP
Are these controllers good for emulators?
They look comfy as shit and looks like you have everything you need for NES-SNES games.
I know the N64 would most likely not be usable for this device, but there is always the Steam controller for that. Then again, I could always just use the controller for all emulators anyway.

I discovered this controller from a video I stumbled upon on YouTube. Here it is.

I can't imagine so

Never used it, but from a single picture of the shoulder buttons alone I can tell it's the single best controller on the market bar none.
Your video confirms my thoughts.
>>3038193
You'd be surprised. I have a bluetooth SFC controller from them and aside from having to re-pair it every time I want to use it (which may or may not be the fault of my laptop's bluetooth module) It's a really good controller. Can't speak for the ones with analog sticks though.

Zidane without question. He's not a brooding asshole. He's brimming with confidence. He's friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned about the well-being of others. He's a total bro and someone that anyone would like to be friends with.
Here's some Final Fantasy 2 art.
How can you not like this one?
>buy used memory cards
>they still have previous owner's saves
>can't bring yourself to delete them
Anyone else experienced this? I just don't wanna to trash someone's gaming history. I guess I'll copy them to my PS2 memory card or something.
>>3034518
I've felt this when I've bought old pokemon games and their childhood save was still on it, my Pokemon games were all stolen so I don't have them anymore so it hits me kind of hard. Except gold, I've never found a gold cart with a working battery, I don't think that is even possible.
>>3034518
How does it feel that you're caring far more about their saved games than even they did?
>>3034518
>bought a lots and lots of Japanese GB/GBC games from yahoo auctions
>there are ONRY TWO kinds of saves
>around 15-30 mintues of game
OR
>200h+ of games with MAXED stats etc, all secrets
I am thinking about building some sort of shrine for those "level of generic asian guy" saves
Where do I get old cell phone games and emulators? (Not smartphones)
Can I put them on my actual phone and not play them on a computer?
Search for J2ME games on Google, you can put them on your phone via USB, just make sure they have the proper screen proportions.
Also you can try KEmulator if you don't have a phone.
>>3033490
The only retro phones I know of that had downloadable games were Japanese. Everything else had built in games and I've never seen them dumped. J2ME didn't arrive until a bit later. Some Nokia games were remade for ngage.
Your pic related is unretro by many years. You may as well come here and ask about PS3 shit.
>What is Puyo Puyo?
Puyo Puyo is a puzzle game created by Compile and currently owned and developed by Sega that can be described as similar to tetris with a spin, instead of filling lines to make bricks dissapear, you connect 4 slimy blobs (puyos) of the same color, puyos can fall downwards, with this you can achieve combos.
>Where can I play?
You can play it on almost every retro and modern console in existence. Recommended versions are:
- Puyo Puyo Tsu (Super Famicom, Saturn, PSX, PS2, Mega Drive,...
