Depends. How many viruses are you willing to put up with?
I gave up on Kirby's Adventure because I couldn't get past the Sun & Moon boss fight.
i've never beat a single boss dude on megaman
i did almost beat megaman x doe

There's a difference between being softcore and being a drooling retard that can't figure out the simplest of patterns to save his life. You must have an amazing job.

On both Banjo Kazooie and Secret of Mana, I got to the last boss, had a few goes and thought "fuck this shit" and just left it there.
I regret nothing.
Just started Tales of Phantasia last night for SNES. Played about 3 hours straight. God damn is it fun. (May your soul rest in peace) What are some tips I should know before I keep playing? Yeah... I lost the knights saber already.
Fun fact, it's the worst Tales of, on par with Tempest

Go into a Tales general and ask what the worst Tales game is, and people will say "Phantasia". I guarantee it.
Was the Famicom the first videogame console sold in Japan? As far as I know Atari consoles were never really a thing there. I know pc gaming existed to some degree there, but I've never heard of a Japanese console before the Famicom.

1. Nintendo had their Pong clones aka Color TV Game 6/15
2. Some company sold Ataris under their own name before Atari 2800 appeared
wasn't the msx out before the famicom?

Why Sega has never released good port of HOTD1 or VF3?
After all this years we have only shitty version on Saturn and DC.
"Sega is fucking retarded general thread" i guess
>>3063883
saturn version? thats just an "old wives tale" as they say.
>>3063898
Saturn version of HOTD1
>>3063883
Well, VF3 needed to be a launch title for Dreamcast, then by the time PS2 rolled around, it was VF4's time. It wouldn't make sense to re-release VF3.
Would be great if they re released on modern hardware like the great VF2 port, but Sega stopped doing ports soon after they finally got good.
Poor sales were probably due to years of trash ports by backbone and abominations like Crazy Taxi, but they pulled the plug on everything just as the greats were coming through like JSR.
What does /vr/ think of reproduction cartridges? I recently grabbed a few reproductions online for a few games that are out if my price rangestarving uni student here, like Alien Soldier and Sparkster and they both seem to be working great.
How does everyone else feel?
If you're going to buy reproductions, you might as well get a flash cart.

I made a couple for fun a while back, with boxes and everything. As long as you aren't trying to sell them off as legit, they're fine.
But honestly just get a flash cart if the intention is to actually play the games.
Post and discuss all things related to retro controllers and sticks.
pic related is a playstation dual analog stick i got at goodwill yesterday for $10.
I have "basic" electronic skills
How do I go about building my own arcade stick?
>>3063143
Well, the way I built mine was I got some pieces of wood and plexi and cut them to the dimensions i needed, drilled the holes for the button, and got a screw terminal pcb and hooked everything up.
Be aware, when building your own stick, it will come out to be as expensive, if not, more expensive than buying one.

has all the parts you need so you can get a feel for how much it will cost,
tek innovations has a plexi case that all you need to do is assemble if you dont have...

ITT: games you rented as a kid and got really far in but still never managed to beat it in the allotted 2-3 days.
I remember making it to the final boss but I guess I didn't know what I was doing and did bad upgrades or something because I kept dying almost immediately. I never went back to it again since then.
>>3062438
You should've been able to, since PE is like a 6-10 hour main campaign if you know what you're doing.
I can see you getting stuck because if you don't upgrade your guns you'll definitely be getting your ass kicked, especially at the final fights.
Do not upgrade Aya at all. Don't do what I did and upgrade her speed and shit. Dump all your BP into guns, perferably damage.
Also didn't have a memory card
Super Castlevania. I sucked so bad at games as a kid that I couldn't get past Medusa in 2 days.

Over the last couple years a lot of classic games got remakes, reboots, reinterpretations or plain sequels. Have you played both, the original and the remake? If so, how did the new variants fare? What have they done better than the original? What have they done worse? What opportunities have they missed? Have you encountered remakes you like more than the original game? Have you encountered remakes that stink so badly, they're practically an insult to the original?
The best remake of a game has to be PAC-MAN CHAMPIONSHIP EDITION DX+ ALL YOU CAN EAT EDITION
because it is fun and nice to look at.
Bottom right? Settlers?
>>3061478
indeed, Settlers II and 10th Anniversary edition, which is specifically taking the Settlers II ruleset and "just" updating the visuals

This is still my favorite fighting game.
That said, it probably helps that my team is considered OP.
Look at Sagat's smug face on the cover.
He knows he's top tier and he's loving it.
What FF IV is the best to play?
>>3059170
I really like the GBA version, has a better translation than the snes (other than a few memetic lines kept for posterity) as well as being visually very similar, along with some extra content.
I'm going to venture a guess and say Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection on the PSP. It's been on my to-do list for a while.

Hey there, /vr/. Anyone here ever play this gem or its direct sequel?
yes I played both
>>3058492
OP here. I'm currently replaying the second for my eight or ninth time. I've lost count.
>>3058486
yeah, its a beautiful thing.
If you could make changes to dungeon keeper what would they be?
Hold as many monsters as I want instead of only 8.
Un-invert mouselook
A carryover monster box in every world, however hidden
Probably tweak certain monsters.
Vampires are difficult to get, but pretty weak.
Horned Reapers are imba, but the cost of them being immediately annoyed and wrecking shit all the time is a bit shit- though I do like creating little bedroom cells to leave them in.
Level 10 Demonspawn turn into a level 1 dragon, which is far, far weaker than a Demonspawn. They likely should change into a level 3 or so.
Probably change or diminish the sound of the lava, I remember it giving me a...
