Are the Doom games worth playing WITHOUT mods?
Of course they are, and learning curve isn't all that steep
I played Doom and am playing Doom 2 without mods. Yeah I'm having no issues.
I like the ps1 port because of ambient music alone. That plus dpad controls and darker lighting changes the atmosphere to that of a survival horror.

Other than that not really, modding is the only thing keeping doom alive.
This for n64
the pc version is probably the best version, actually.

Saturn controllers have a "plus-sign" shaped piece of nylon inside the controller under the D-pad. The pad is raised above this and that's what gives the pad the "rocker" feel as opposed to the mushy feel of a Nintendo 64 or PlayStation controller.
What if you cut a plus shaped piece of nylon and put it under the Dpad of another system's controller? Will it be improved?
Both Nintendo and Sega dpads use a single pivot design.
>>3097780
Single pivot? Are there any other designs?
Please tell us all the different types of Dpad construction.
>>3097830
Think just about every big name controller uses a single pivot dpad. How retarded they get about making it is what sets them apart.
Excluding the steam controller.
I picked up a DOS CD-ROM full of 25 classic games at a thrift store for $2, I'm trying to run it in DOSBox but I can't get further than the DIR command. When I type in DIR I get the "." And ".." directories but nothing else. I know there should be a directory that would allow me to run the game. And yes, I have the correct drive mounted.
Pic related, the instruction manual.
Pic related is as far as I get.
>>3097194
What does the directory look like outside of dosbox on your host?
What's in the directory?
Open it up via Windows so we can see what files are in there...
Why is fog OK when the PS1 does it, but when the N64 does it, it's Hitler?
Because we focus on other things we hate about the PS1, like the jaggies and the parkinson
>>3096809
it's not okay when either console does it.
>>3096824
I have heard people on here say that the PS1 doesn't having a fogging or pop-up problem (while the N64 does).
What games have those people been playing? JRPGs with 2D backgrounds???
anybody now where i can download the rom for this game? it's called "kira kira star night" (キラキラスターナイト)
here's a video

>Aren't you ashamed of playing this gay shit?
no, in fact i havent even played it yet, because i cant find the Rom, thus im making this thread
>>3096678
tried that, no luck
If you played the game on an emulator you haven't really played the game.
>>3096392
Including yourself?
I don't disagree, but this is a pointless troll thread.
>Game devs spend 80s and early 90s chasing the holy grail of high res, high color 2D
>The minute, and I mean the literal INSTANT 2D is perfected with the advent of 32 bit consoles capable of millions of colors and every 2D effect conceivable, 2D gaming is all but abandoned in order to chase after 3D
>To repeat, the instant consoles became good at 2D, it was abandoned to chase after 3D, which they were terrible at.
It's like heroin junkies chasing the dragon. Thank god...

2D on 32 bit seems like it was very popular in Japan though.
Westerners otoh seemed to believe that 32/64 bit = THREE DEE RADICAL AWESOME.
We did get Skullmonkeys though...
>>3096132
Skullmonkeys would be mediocre at best but unfortunately TenNapel is a problematic CIS shitlord
>>3096246
>problematic
>I play Doom with Vertical mouselook, autoaim, and jumping
>I had to look online to know you could bomb the tunnel leading to Maridia in Super Metroid
>I had to use savestates to beat Super Castlevania 4
inb4 losers whose only sense of self-worth comes from how good they are at vidyuh games
inafter butthurt retard that sucks at both life and videa gaems
lol I'm better at videogames than you XD
>one of the freatest action games ever made
>never even talked about
Strider thread. An amazing series no one talks about.

Some nerds on assemblergames figured out some GameShark codes for disabling the ``Anti-aliasing'' (ie. vaseline filter) on N64 games.
What interesting is that despite being software switchable and having a significant performance impact with questionable result, it's still enabled for most, if not all commercial games. Guess Nintendo forced developers to leave it on.

In other news, grass is green.

Then you can be sure that it is a scam.

I always thought it was caused by a shitty video output or some hardware quirk desu
Best game ever made?

that's not Bubsy

oops sorry, wrong pic
Tetris.
Ok D2 experts and melancholics.
How about a challenge?
>start a new hardcore game with an 'original' character
> poison dagger necro, barbarian double thrower, holy shock paladin (i.e. with Holy Thunder runeword), fire claw-bear/fire caster druid, hybrid bow/javelin zon, hybrid assassin, etc
>iron man mode: no game restart, can only go to town once act boss is killed, no tps or waypoints, no backtrack

Blizzard locked my account and didn't let me back in and permabanned me when I chargebacked on my CC in retaliation. Sorry.

how do you even complete act 2?
>Genesis had 4 pallets of 15 colors
>TurboGrafx-16 had 16 BG pallets of 16 color, AND 16 sprite pallets of 15 colors
Why were the Genesis's graphics so gimped?
you tell me

Okay, now let me remind you that the one on the right is an 8-bit system.
It is established that the fifth gen goes PS>SS>N64>3DO>Jaguar?PC-FX>Pippin.
Which is better:
A bunch of primitive 2/5 star at best games or the same number of visual novel pedophiliac non-games and a couple good shmups and platformers?
Low poly flat shaded 3D or no 3D at all?
Are the PC-FX and JagCD region and copy free?
Does the PC-FX have a homebrew scene like the Jag?
.

.
.
Atardis and NECbeards debate to finalize the position of these two hopelessly lame consoles!
PC-FX at least had some good games. Atari systems were a mess after the 2600.
Don't know about PC-FX, but Jaguar is objectively terrible. There's not a single game on the system worth playing.

>PC-FX
Really?
