Is it worth to 1cc games?
>>3113136
only if you use save states.
>>3113136
only if you like the game and it gives you a sense of accomplishment
Yes. Most of the time the game's difficulty is tuned around the idea of getting the 1cc. Also often makes you actually care about scoring since you need those extends. Not sure why other anons are shitposting in this thread, OP.
what are your thoughts on this game? was this overshadowed by phantasy star 1?
>>3112565
>was this overshadowed by phantasy star 1
well yeah obviously but Miracle Warriors was still better than Final Fantasy
I still haven't managed to get the PC98 version running.
I can't create a save disk. The readme said to hold COPY during bootup but I haven't managed to get that to work with an emulator.
What are some issues I need to be aware of with the Model 1? If I have a working unit, do I need to worry about anything going wrong with it?
There's nothing to worry about. Just get yourself a copy of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch: Make My Video for unlimited gaming enjoyment.

Not an expert on this, but from what I've heard the Model 1 is more prone to breaking since it has more moving parts. Namely the belt and the rest of the tray assembly. Which would probably be the reason they switched to a top-load design for the Model 2.
>>3112535
If it's still working is there anyway to maintain it or make sure that doesn't happen? Or do you just have to lightly use it and not often?
post some games that are unreal/weird/impossible stuff. Surreal and things are welcome, just anything that could be described as strange or a trip or something like that
Game related, this thing is trippy as hell. First time playing it and I love it.

Not really a game, but this.
surreal
Caesar III is on sale right now on GOG. I loved this game, so I picked it up and it's just as fun as ever.
Post your cities, /vr/!
How do I beat Taracco? I tried playing last night and it seems like everything goes to shit immediately. You have no farmland and what little farmland I did have got an earthquake fissure running straight through it and ruining my farms, plummeting me into bankruptcy. I spent my first Caesar loan on improving the mood because the Gods keep fucking with me. It's hell.
Taracco is one of my favourite maps in the game.
I'd say start with just placing down housing, wells, engineers, prefects and temples, then get your exports going, especially marble. After the earthquake has triggered, farm for wheat, it grows twice as fast as other foodstuffs. Do not feed your people anything other than food.
Set taxes to 0 and set wages to 32 (2 more than Rome) and you'll never have mood problems. Exports in Taracco will give you more than enough money.
Here's a really basic start. Housing, engineer post, marble quarries for export, temples to all gods, doctor clinic. That's all you need to start with. Get some money on the go from exports then start seeing about farming that land.
I've killed too many hours of my life playing through this and Rondo, and there are undoubtedly some cool extras in the SS version but it's pretty annoying playing a game like this in Japanese. I can't see a translation patch for this ever happening either, it doesn't seem like anybody gives a shit about it. Hell the PS1 jpn version has a translation patch just because people hated the English voice acting enough.
Emulation wise, it runs pretty well on SFF, I haven't tried yabause yet, I've only ever tried thst on my shit computers that run...

I played the saturn version first, and no, there is no point playing it over the playstation versions, unless you know japanese, or you really want to play as Maria, which won't last that long. The extra area is kinda obnoxious.
Blame SOA for not giving a shit about it, I could see myself replaying the saturn version with an english traduction.
Play it just to test out the new features. The new areas and enemies are hella lame.
Some of the new items and features are kinda cool though. The dash command, the third hand, etc.
But worth it? Not really.

If you want something new. Level 1 saves for Sotn. Alucard is set to Level 99 with Level 1 stats. Meaning he can't level up. He has enough MP to clear the game.
How the fuck do I close the new 'quick loot bar' in the new Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear?

did anything of note come out of the net yaroze? i know the wonderwitch had some incredible shit like dicing knight and judgement silversword, but you never hear anything about the ps1 homebrew devkit.
Blitter Boy
Hover Racing
>but you never hear anything about the ps1 homebrew devkit.
Most people haven't even heard about the PS1 homebrew devkit. Definitely not on a board this casual.

That's pretty neat. I didn't realize there were 88 levels. When they're all put into a grid like that it doesn't look like very many at all.
>>3102546
>I didn't realize there were 88 levels.
There's more stages in SMB 3 than in Super Mario World.
>>3102546
I always thought it was 90, are there really only 88?
>this kill the Genesis
it really is pretty dead in 2016
>>3098954
Nah, it's a lot more living than SNES.
Are Super Nintendos still produced? But Megadrives are.

This thread is for the spirited discussion of CRT displays - Televisions, monitors and projectors used for the playing of retro games!
>Try to keep it /vr/-related: Nothing past 5th gen(+Dreamcast). Slight OT might be okay if related to CRTs (E.G. 16:9 compatible models, flatscreens, etc.) Systems with backwards compatibility are also pretty safe territory, assuming you're focusing on the older games. PC CRTs are also a-ok.

Is CRT emulation lame or cool?
I dont think so really I think scanline filters are fine but thats about it... Nothing beats the real thing imo

I like my games crisp and clear, thank you.
Hey /vr/ think you can help me out?
I got a trip to go down and see my friends in Louisiana this Thursday for the week. I'm supposed to bring my N64 so we can play some local games together, But I recently found out my other N64 controller broke down, so I've only got 1 working.
Usually, you buy offline, but I need a replacement by wednesday night and all the places I found don't offer 1 day shipping.
Any of you cool cats know a solution? Appreciated.
>>3112525
Buy one at a store?
>>3112607
nothing local. All i have are gamestops, and they dont carry anything pre 7th gen
>>3112610
You're going to Louisiana though there should be a store that carries them in between
for me it was this one:

what about yours?
>>3111773
I find it interesting that the company responsible for this game made some pretty competent emulators
Gensis MK1. Crappy sound and graphics compared to the SNES port, but way better gameplay. The SNES handled jump kicks all wrong compared to the arcade.
>>3111872
>Crappy sound
Nah, genesis had way better music
Matt Furniss can do no wrong
