Can you identify these cartridges? I see Pitfall and MK
>>3106257
No because your picture sucks, just buy it fgt.
>>3106257
I wouldn't pay more than $20 for that lot. Then again, I haven't bought anything retro in years.
Bottom left is Mario is Missing
Do you like Wolfenstein 3D? If so, what's your favorite port or way to play it? I like to be as close to vanilla as possible, so I use the Wolf4SDL source port.
ZWolf is a fairly new port. It supports 1080p.
I play wolf4sdl on my pi its actually really fun to play with a controller.
>>3105469
Wolf 3D was pretty cool. But it hasn't aged very well at all. The levels all kind of blend together, nothing all too memorable outside of boss fights.
I'm thinking of going to nipland some day in the near future and I'm thinking of picking some games up.
Have retro game prices inflated as badly as they have in EU/US, or will I be able to get a famalamicom in good condition for 30 dollars?
>>3105315
Stuff is still cheap
Best idea is to buy systems that get grossly inflated over here.
PC-Engine, PC-Engine CD, AV Famicom, and other Japan exclusive things.
Why not just get an NES and a flashcart or one of the cheap multicarts on aliexpress?
Can anyone explain where the "PS1 has bad graphics" thing comes from?
This is the first level of the first Crash Bandicoot game, released in 1996. Notice how it looks better than any Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, or PC game?
Wrong timing bro, right now /vr/ is having grand fest of 4th gen console warring.
5th gen console war is boring and this thread was made too many times already.
Crash Bandicoot sucks, literally the Poochie of video games. Enjoy your narrow corridors.
This board is shit.
I read from an anon on /vr/ that Crash was a bit like an FMV game, in that visibility and depth data for every frame was stored on the disk.
What does /vr/ think of the Everdrive?
I think (flash carts in general) are a good idea. Unless you're collecting or you really want that game, I don't really see a reason to pay the seller's inflated prices for an old cartridge with most likely a dead battery or corroded contacts.
>>3104059
Its so goddamn expensive. On the other hand, most of the games on Genesis/megadrive i have yet to play are out of my price range. I might just go for the MegaEverdrive and stop collecting for a while
>>3104598
$40 USD for the chinese version of the Genesis Everdrive on aliexpress. It even comes with an 8GB SD card that has like every game on it.
Are there any FMV games that are actually good?
I liked Mad Dog Mccree and Who Shot Johnny Rock back in the day a lot, but those need one of those lightguns
thought that was AVGN
try time gal and road avenger
Ripper is also pretty good. Has Christopher Walken in it

What are your favorite tracks that set the atmosphere in games, /vr/?
>>3101426
> We've made a terrible mistaaaaake
That box art is hysterical. I always complain about plain, unsophisticated illustrations in game covers, but then they try to do something eerie and symbolic and it backfires like this
Answering your question: any Tenchu track, but I love string-based ones like 'Cure the Princess'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpPLGtG2Nk8
or 'Execute the Corrupt Minister'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuatOQOTVNw
>>3101426
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVCDvUJXxUU
Creepy and depressing track, matches the game perfectly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z676IOGY7E
They had almost nothing but cookie-cutter dungeon crawlers and interactive fiction (which barely even counts as a "game") with primitive graphics and a couple of beeps for sound. There was nothing like the demo scene or any decent music composers either.
Also don't get me started on the rubbish computers they had like IBM PCs with shit CGA colours, Crapple, and a few other miscellaneous shitpiles. Even the few decent computers like Amiga were nearly ignored over there and 90% of their userbase was in Europe.
We're going to get this shit thread weekly now huh?
I know this is at least the second time.
while you were playing mayhem in monsterland in 93 the patricians had already cleared ultima underworld and wolfenstein 3d
Are there any good games made in Australia?
Recent buys thread?
>>3070097
How much did that run you? About $500?
>>3070112
well I live in canada, so I actually payed almost double that for all 3.
Got the Super Metroid at a game store, I was shocked to see it there because the store rarely ever has anything even remotely good retro wise. I found the Ristar box at a flea market for $10, and found a cart a couple weeks back.

FUCK YOU
___
(Note to mod/janitors, this is a reference to the OP's title)
Can we get a /vr/ top Genesis games thread going? Just bought a Model 1.
Should I get Vectorman and Rocket Knight Adventures?
Please /vr/
Yes. Rocket knight is awesone. That music.
>>3116367
>that one nice guy on /vr/ who responds with just a quick sentence but no additions
This isn't the best place to post this because most anons dislike 5th generation discussion on /vr/. However, what is /vr/'s consensus on Final Fantasy VII after nearly 20 years? Underage need not apply.
I like it. Think the materia system is fun. But do you like it, OP? These whole "do you like ____?" threads never really go anywhere.
>>3115085
It was the first game I was ever over-hyped for. I remember being disappointed in many ways when I first played it. But now I've come to terms with what it was and trying to be and it's alright. Not my favorite FF, but not my least either.
>>3115085
>because most anons dislike 5th generation discussion on /vr/.
Where did you get that idea?
Yeah it's a great game, overrated and all that.
Serious question. How much of the content and discussions of this board is guided by pure nostalgia? A longing for that brief, innocent time in all of our lives when we were ten or eleven. Staying up all night finishing OoT, or skipping school and spending half the day at the Golden Saucer?
Is there any objective truth to the value of these retro games? Or is this all one shared, subjective, pool of nostalgia? One option isn't necessarily better than any other.
It's just videogames, technically it's all dull mindless entertainment.
>>3114579
I would say probably 25% overall. Some people are mostly guided by nostalgia, some don't care about it at all. Most are about in the middle.
I don't know about objective truth, but there are a lot of old games I still like many years later and there are old games I try for the first time and find I like as well. I also like many new games as well though.
>>3114579
Its just video games what the fuck are you on about.
Name one thing Street Fighter III: New Generation or Second Impact did better than Third Strike.
Second Impact: The music is not dogshit and the announcer is decent.
Better huds and 2I's OST is the best.
Hugo was supposed to be in this game but was cut due to time constraints.
Treasure's best
>>3108497
Not with that shitty polarity gimmick it isn't.
That's not contra hard corps.
>>3109040
Best treasure game not made by treasure.
