Ok guys, ive been trying to find a pocket sized snes emulation handheld, but so far no luck. Dstwo sucks, psp is god awful and slow as shit. Smartphones have great emus, but no buttons and i realld dont have room in my pocket for a clip on controller.
I just wanna play smw with no slowdowns and no more fuckin crashes everytime i get halfway through star oceans story. Any recommendations?
>>3161658
Wait. So you dont have room for a controller, but you have room for this other device, and your smartphone?
Makes no sense.
You gonna leave your phone at home? No? Then you do have room for a pocket controller in lieu of your "emulation device"
/thread
Ive got an lg g3. Every controller thats big enough to clip my phone on is big as hell. I cant fit a dualshock or similar in my pocket, i usually end up having to wear a sweatshirt even when its hot just to fit the controller/ psp. whereas with say a ds its slim enough to fit in my back pants pocket and not feel like its about to fall out all the time
N3DS. Why is this even a question? The buttons are even colored like the damn SFC.
How does /vr/ feel about GCW Zero and others handheld like that?
>>3161336
Too expensive.

I have Dingoo A320.
Why it is better over PSP or it's not?

I like the Ray Splasher from MMX3.
Also the Zero Sabre.
On this note, actually, I've always pondered this: what is the MMX3 ultimate weapon? Is it the gold armor or the Zero Sabre? The gold armor isn't a weapon, per se, but it has a more similar method to obtaining it to the previous two games' ultimate weapons than the Zero Sabre (which, in function, is more like the ultimate weapons of old).

The PSP version of Armored Armadillo is pretty cool.
>be a kid
>your controller finally dies
>ask parents for new one for birthday/holiday whatever
>they get you a shitty 3rd party
Anyone else deal with this?

I vaguely remember getting third party shit when I was younger from friends at birthday parties.

What is some good SNES platformer recommendations? I have played Super Mario World, Aladdin, DKC.
Recently I felt like playing DKC 2 since I have yet to try it but I was wondering if /vr/ might have other recommendations?

How about we have a comfy Murder/Detective games thread?
I'm playing J.B. Harold right now, are there any other recommended Detective games? I've played Deja Vu, NIghtshade and Famicom Tantei Club.
Tex Murphy -series. I played the first game already and it was kinda frustrating and awful, but the other games in the series are clearly better. The later games in the series also have FMV which is awesome.

I'm looking rather for fmv-less games.
What is your preferred Sega Genesis model?
My opinion is that you can't go wrong with a Model 1, however I prefer the Model 2 because it looks sexier, it doesn't look ugly with the Model 2 Sega CD (not to mention a working model 1 Sega CD is hard to come by), and you don't need to plug a stereo cable into the front. Downside is that some models have ugly composite output, but if you're using RGB then that doesn't really matter.
The Model 3 isn't really worth bothering with unless you are going to mod it for at least stereo output,...

>it doesn't look ugly with the Model 2 Sega CD
Are you implying the Model 1 does'
>Downside is that some models have ugly composite output
No, downside is that some models have abysmal audio clarity, around the late model 1s and early model 2s.
Genesis 3 is actually really good on this front, but the earlier Model 1 will always be the right choice, because of the ladder effect and proper mixing.
Nomad.
I'm not kidding. It has the best video out of all the systems I've tested (using RGB of course), and the audio is better than the Model 2.
>>3158019
While I do think Model 2 looks a lot more modern, the original Model 1 looks more like a gaming machine, if that makes sense. Model 2 looks kind of like a flat black piece of plastic with nothing in it.
Discuss your favorite aspects of the original Doom franchise. Go.
The super smooth movement. It's one of the reasons I like vanilla-ish settings. No recoil or other fancy weapon effects, no mouselook, just super stable and smooth blasting while on turbo rollerskates.

Talk to me about flash carts /vr/. Right now I'm thinking about getting one for my N64, and maybe more down the road for other systems.
How is compatibility? Where is the best place to buy them? Is it really as easy as dropping a rom on an SD card and going to town?
>>3156769
>How is compatibility?
other than SNES you get damn near 100%
>Where is the best place to buy them?
either from krikzz directly or a chink knockoff (no warranty or support from krikzz though)
>Is it really as easy as dropping a rom on an SD card and going to town?
yes, plus the OS/firmware/etc file/folder you get from krikzz' site
i have a bunch:
nes n8
sd2snes
ed64 v2.5
edmd v3

You're too kind anon.
Why the caveat for SNES? I'm assuming it has to do with the number of unique chips that found their way into SNES carts?
I'm looking at Kirkzz' site and there's an ED64v3 now. How's your experience with the 2.5 been, and would it be worth it to get the 3 over the 2.5?
>>3156797
>unique chips that found their way into SNES carts?
yeppers you can install a dsp chip on the superED to play dsp games (pilot wings, mario kart) but the sd2snes plays them out of the box as well as cx4 games like megaman. essentially, sd2snes can emulate all special chips except SA-1 (super mario rpg) and FX(2) games like star fox
ED64v3 fixes compatibility with animal crossing and pokemon stadium, iirc, so not worth it unless you really want to play it
>>3156715
No.
>>3156715
Couldn't get into it meself. Saw so much praise for it but was underwhelmed.
ITT: anti-classics. The games that no one really likes but are always there.
Why the fuck this game was ported to every platform? Even PS, in fucking 2003!
Nipponese cover
Another one, also ported to Playstation, because every Playstation owner begged for a Alfred Chicken port.
What are some good, obscure SNES JRPGs? I'm looking for something new to play. Pic unrelated.

Can we have a thread about this topic? Prototype games like Resident Evil 1.5 and Earthbound 64 are interesting as hell. All discussion about alpha/beta stages of games welcome too, an example would be the development stages of Zelda 64.

Someday I'd love to see the two player co-op build of Biohazard leaked online. That or the build that includes the scrapped black guy and cyborg characters, if that idea ever made it to an actual playable build that is.
A quick reminder that the Biohazard 1.5 restoration project is still ongoing.
How come the NES did not have a single good or even decent fighting game? Was it not powerful enough to do that? In fact, all the fighting games on NES are Chinese bootlegs.
>>3163670
>What is Karate Champ
TMNT Tournament Fighters
Probably because by the time 2D fighters really took off with SFII, the SNES was the console of choice for that genre.
