What's a good Ogre battle to start with?
Ogre Battle
Well there's really only two, they're both good but I found Ogre Battle 64 to have better pacing and more interesting units. The original is a solid place to start, though. I've played the snes version, its supposedly faster than the psx port. PSX version does have some nice effects though.
If you want to go deeper into the world/story you can look at the Tactics Ogre games. Let Us Cling Together is the precursor to FF:Tactics and is an amazing strategy game. I haven't played the GBA game but I've heard its good. Just know that these games play...

Ogre Battle 64, by a mile~
The one on the SNES is okay too.
S Video modded my genesis. We're the vertical black bars on kun Laos profile always there?
>>3345859
Which one is Kun Laos?
>>3345859
No, they're an artifact of the Genesis' composite encoder which puts some jailbars in blue spots. I think it can be solved...for RGB at least.
Second from left in top row. I get black bars on solid colors like on the orange opening of recap attack. Anyone know what might cause it?
Sure, you can point fingers at the 32X, but Saturn, Sega's actual representation for fifth gen, failed spectacularly outside of Japan and basically allowed Sony to take over the gaming industry. Had the Saturn not have flopped, the Dreamcast probably could have lived a longer life and Sega would still be in the console business without Microsoft eventually having to take their place. 32X failing didn't nearly have as huge of a consequence as Saturn's failure, and Sega of Japan killing it off early permanently sullied their image to most third-party developers.
How...

If you want to take it simple, Sega felt they are too powerful after Genesis.
But they weren't to support fails.
Bad decisions:
1) Building a 2D powerhouse for a 3D era
2) Bad marketing (no flagships at launch, etc)
3) Rushed release (overpriced, no flagships)
4) Withholding jap games from western market
5) Not wooing 3rd party devs
Having said all of that, I don't think ANY established videogame company could have withstood Sony's assault on the market, Sony were ON FIRE, they did absolutely everything right, the hardware, the software deals, the marketing... The only way Sega could have competed is by doing everything Sony did, six months before Sony did it.
Even if the Dreamcast was not killed Microsoft would still have entered the console market.
They felt threatened by Sony taking all the game developers away from windows PC.
How does /vr/ feel about Syphon Filter?
Indifferent
>>3345363
I don't remember much about it. I think I actually played the demo for it more than the final game.
The taser was fun to mess around with, and the sniper shotgun is ridiculous. I think that thing shoots slugs.
GABE
Can we get a retro merch thread /vr/?
I recently started organizing stuff i've had for years and buying some 6th/7th gen merch, but I've been wondering what all exists in /vr/ related things. Old toys sold during the NES era and the like, obscure stuff from lesser known RPG premotionals, that kind of stuff.
Genuinely curious to see what all exists. oh, and feel free to post your own collections and comments! The more the merrier!
Those are some rad pajama pants.
Personally I'm fond of old sticker collections, Merlin had some cool album collections like Super Mario and Street Fighter II.

How does this guy have the largest video game memorabilia collection without any Pokemon shit in sight?
The closest thing I even have to retro merch is a little figurine of Zelda 1 version of Link, and the 8-bit Mario Amiibo.
And I guess a Sonic plush that I thought was an ordinary classic Sonic plush, but as it turns out, it was a Sonic Underground plush that had it's guitar necklace removed before it was given to me.
I wish I still had some of the retro stuff I had as a kid. I had some Mario and Sonic Kid's Meal toys, a Super Mario Bros Lunch Box and Thermos, some T-shirts with a particularly vicious looking off-model Bowser popping out of a TV, some Mario coloring books, and comics.
Actually now that I think about it, I have an old Super Mario World graphic novel from before the N64 even launched, It's in really shitty condition because I was a dumb kid when I got it and I took it to school in my back pack alot.
I wish Nintendo would issue a reprint like they did for the Zelda comic, so I could get a new copy. It goes for unacceptable prices online as it is now.
What are the best?
Super Monaco GP is my favourite, Genesis version is also GOAT
>>3344920
Is that arcade version?
>>3344920
Yes, console versions are way less detailed. IIRC the Amiga version has good visuals but I still haven't tried it
What are good PSX/PC games to play them on PSX?
>>3343872
You mean like ports of PC games to PSX? Quake 2
>>3343886
Doom
Diablo
C&C: Red Alert
Warcraft
Can't think of any others.
>>3343872
Sim Theme Park isn't bad, but it's always stuck in overhead view. Theme Park is a better port.
I'm searching for an old RTS game, a bit like age of empires 1. It had a unit in it that would have 3 guys squashing berries with their feet in a building creating wine, that's basically the only thing I remember. Anyone knows the game?
O wait I think it was 1 guy squashing the berries

So I'm playing Skies of Arcadia and I've managed to make it to the half-way point according to my journal and so far it's a mixed bag for me.
I really like the characters and the setting. And it looks beautiful, no complaints about any of those. The battle system is pretty cool too. I really like how magic usage is so much more lenient in contrast to other RPGs. I'm a big fan of SP, it relies more on tactics rather than balanced usage of magic/special skills throughout your journey. I love how you can just fully heal your ship without being set back...

I want to like Skies but I dropped it early because the encounter rate mixed with the length of battle and amount of exploration you gotta do just made it infuriating for me.
If Sega released a PC port with the option to lower it I'd buy it in a heart beat.
>>3343605
What's more infuriating is that if you decide to run away from battles you get penalized for it by having your title go down.
It's really funny.
My fiancees two favorite retro rpgs are Skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2. I like SoA a bit myself, but we both prefer Legends. She beat SoA about 7 times now. I have only beat it on DC and GC once each.
Not much to say except the game was good. Better when you remember what it was being released along side.
Don't mind me, just posting gore.

Super Famicom's Satellaview "BS Zelda no Densetsu" finally gets live audio restoration patch via MSU-1 ROM hack

Oooooo
Dubbed to English or with the original broadcast audio from somebody's VHS tape?
>>3341506
English dubbed unfortunately. I'm not too fond on the voice actor, but beggars can't be choosers. It's still amazing they managed to actually make it though.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diowlUh8-Pk
Here's a video from last year, don't know if the audio changed since.
Also goddamn the audio files are over 2GB.
>>3341537
Sounds like it's begging for my radio voice and audio compression knowledge to redub it. What's the voice supposed to be? Gannon? God?
What was up with EA's obsession with 5fps early 3D flight sims?
They're everywhere on PC and Genesis. I guess they must have been big sellers despite the shit performance.
>overclocked console/play the games on Megasis emulator/increase cycles in DosBox
>?????
I can understand what you mean though, the games were too advanced for the hardware they're designed at the time
>>3341654
Since we began to talk about too advanced games for hardware, I'd like to mention Road Rage.
It uses actual software scaling.
I always wanted an overclocked Genesis core for the Mega Everdrive so I could run these 3D games full speed.

How do we fix Blue shit?
>actual unique weapons that aren't just re-skins
>being able to use terminals to indirectly fuck with enemies
>maybe even avoid fights by doing so
>new aliens
>replace crowbar with nightstick that can knock out enemies from behind (stealth section? Like a chapter where you get captured by grunts and need to escape)Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

A Link to the Past is one of my favorite games of all time.I've only played the GBA port.
What's with the Zelda raid my dude?

I'm very curious about this game. The ISO is out, and i think it would be interesting for a translator anon to translate it.
