Just got this game, about 45 minutes in by now.
God damn, could the cutscenes be any longer?
This being said, while not exactly what I'd call graphically impressive, and the N64 has seen better cameras, the combat system works pretty well thus far, and the game has the atmosphere down pat. The soundtrack's still a bit underwhelming, but OTOH, I only just started to fight enemies I couldn't take down with my defusor. I reckon it's still effectively the tutorial, we'll see what comes later.

So I've been going crazy trying to find out if this is real or if I'm going crazy. I remember having this plug n play console when I was a kid. It was based around lightguns, it had a red and blue one. I remember the gameplay being point blank esque, perhaps even being point blank branded. I also remember the console itself being small and rectangular. The guns plugged in with round plug ins, like ps/2 looking connectors I think. Hope someone knows what I'm talking about because I can't find anything.

I know it's not all that popular, but I really like Spinball. More than any of the normal sonic games, and most pinball games. It hits a fun middle ground I find a lot of fun.
Ive always wondered why the capacitors in Sega Game Gears break so easly
It makes me worried for other handhelds with capacitors in them

Capacitors degrade at a fairly predictable rate. The reason the Game Gear degrades more quickly when compared to something like, say the gameboy, is because the color screen requires higher voltages, which when stored in the capacitor degrade the chemical composition more quickly. This leads to them leaking, which erodes the contacts.
tl;dr: no, game gear capacitors degrade more quickly then other handhelds of the era.

during the 90's Chinese companies were using cheap ass capacitors in electronics that weren't up to snuff. there was a class action lawsuit about it. then after that class action lawsuit started up it was revealed all sorts of other shit the Chinese cut corners on started coming out.
After playing Oath in Felghana for a while I decided to try out the first two Ys games. I heard that the Turbo Grafx versions were the best so I got an emulator up and running and HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE SOUNDTRACK IS SO GOOD!

Ys 1&2 have amazing soundtracks. As far as gameplay goes Ys 1 doesn't hold up too well but Ys 2 is still great.
