So I recently bought a PAL snes and i'm thinking about buying one of these things and importing a few games from japan besides some PAL games
How good do these things work?
Does anyone know if they support the Super Famicom Fire Emblem games?
Anyone?
anyone thats willing to help?
>>3232241
They work for most games, but there are a few that don't work because of software region-locking.
Here's a list of games that won't work

This seller is a good example of someone who is totally wrecking the retro gaming market and driving up prices for imaginary costs.
She charges over 100 extra dollars to replace the Sega CD Model 1 Drive Belts. Which cost 3.95
http://console5.com/store/parts/belts.html
It's insane people are getting away with this. The belts take 15 seconds to install and there are 100 videos on Youtube.
The real things that go bad in these Model 1 Sega CD's are the capacitors, and those can be recapped by someone for like the price of the caps plus 25-50 bucks labor.
>>3231892
Most people who will replace the caps for 50 bucks will also throw in a new drive belt for free.
I actually bypassed the fuse that usually blows the other day. I know it's dangerous to bypass and not replace but let's be real who connects systems straight into the wall nowadays?
Although I will definitely replace it if I ever sell it
>>3231892
>totally wrecking the retro gaming market
In what way? No one is being forced to buy from him, don't like it don't give him money. It's a free market.
What the title says.
Was it orange to reduce burn in?
I've never used a Windows 9x PC that didn't automatically shut off.
>>3231518
The "It's now safe to turn off your computer" screen was there for older PCs with an AT-type power supply. Most PCs made after Windows 95 came out had ATX power supplies with auto shutoff. XP still has this feature and I think Vista was the first version of Windows that no longer supports AT power supplies.
Why were gamesharks such unreliable pieces of shit?
were they
>>3231298
yeah, n64 gamesharks were terribly built hardware, so they fail and brick themselves very frequently, but their actual function is insanely cool and gives you a lot of room for creativity, like making your own codes.
like all this shit the speedrunning community came up with:
https://sites.google.com/site/sm64gameshark/
>>3231294
Are we talking specifically about N64 ones, because my PS1 and PS2 gamesharks were fuckin aces.
Is it really that bad?
Why don't you just play it?
Why not just play the thing yourself?
Play spiderman its actually bretty gud
How do I make pic related run on Windows 10?
I'm getting genuinely triggered.
>>3231141
>I'm getting genuinely triggered.
Well, I'm sorry to hear that
>>3231141
and why would you use a spyware as an operating system?
>>3231158
Microsoft will drop support for the older os.Its a matter of time.
How do you guys pick a new game to play? I've developed a system where I exported the full list of roms available to download from any particular system to a spreadsheet and use random.org to pick a title. This may seem autistic, but relieves of the stress of having to choose between thousands of titles.
Historical relevance.
>>3231025
>this may seem autistic
Bingo. Stress? You're choosing a video game. It's not difficult. Pick one that looks fun and interesting. Keep your autism in check.
I play games I liked, but didn't beat in childhood. Then I play games by the same developer. Wanting to know more about a specific genre, I play games that are precursors to this genre.

Do you think this canceled Sonic belt scroller looked good, /vr/?
Not really, not a fan of SatAM either.
It looks like it had potential.
Would've been neat to see the archie characters in a sonic game too. Something that isn't spinball.
>>3230838
I'm all for trying out a new style of gameplay, looks like it might have been a cool game.
Why does this game get so much praise? It's not a terrible game, but it just doesn't have a lot going for it. The story is a very average save-the-world affair with no real interesting plot twists. The characters are generic and have no development. The battle system is dead simple and also broken, once you get the ability to change into Spiritual class you can just hide behind your enemies and wait as long as you want for your magic gauge to recharge, essentially allowing you to live forever in battle. The game is short as fuck, my final playclock said 14 hours. The...

>The story is a very average save-the-world affair with no real interesting plot twists
The twist is that it's vastly expanding the Panzer Dragoon mythology from the rail shooters
>The battle system is dead simple and also broken
The battle system is actually super awesome but you're sort of right. After you level to a certain point in any number of methods you become fairly unstoppable. There needs to be a difficulty-up hack but the...

because it's expensive

Nostalgia. That's why.
I really don't get why kids even come here or play older games. Like half the threads are stupid shit like this.
Anybody have anything to ay regarding the Addam's family games? They had to have been popular for there to be as many as there are, right?
>>3230382
I tried figuring out how many their are REALLY but nobody knows for sure
>>3230415
Wait, what exactly do you mean?
>>3230382
Pic related was a solid platformer with lots of exploration and a good challenge. Ocean made a bunch of movie based games and this happens to be one the few that are actually enjoyable.
I've been messing around with Mario Paint quite a bit, and I can't seem to find any info on exactly how it works. You can put a dot of every colour and patern on the screen all at once. How does this work considering the hardware limitations of the system? Is it a neat workaround, or something simple? Anyone know?
>>3230369
Now that I think about it, you're right.
How the fuck DID they do that?
>>3230369
you are literally just adding color to a background image. what so impressive about that?
>>3230432
OP mentioned how you can put a pixel of every color on the screen, so I believe he's perplexed about how it managed to work under the color limitation per tile as well as the maximum capacity of the palettes.
I hope ProJared was right about Tower of Doom because I'm about to sink $15 into Chronicles of Mystara.

Is that an offer?

Most popular Sega system in Asia.
>>3230163
Are you the same anon who made that "Master System is most popular Sega system in S. America" thread?
>>3230163
Still not popular enough to save Sega from going bankrupt, though.
>>3230190
Only America matters
Lets have an Ultima thread:
Talk about your favorite Ultima game, favorite moments, memories, etc.
Truly, the greatest series of rpgs in video game history.
I started with Ultima Online. Played it for 7 years +
Only played Ultima VII after that.
I really should try the Underworld games.. they sound really good.
>>3230104
My favorite is a tie between Exodus and Quest of the Avatar on NES. III has an awesome soundtrack, and there's actually an album called Ultima Mix that got released in Japan. It does, admittedly, sound like late-'80s, early-'90s J-pop in a lot of the songs, but there are still a few good ones in there. Here's my favorite one out of the bunch.

The bizarro secret room in the first town in Ultima 7, which you get to by trying to enter a crate that you place north of the south-east most tree. Lord Britain calls you a horrible piece of shit and tries to kill you.
