I'm on a quest to replay the Sega consoles and try to understand why they lost out. Have just completed the Mega Drive/CD/32x era. Never had any of the Mega Drive add ons as a child and am thankful my parents were too cheap to ruin my childhood with that crap.
Anyways, I've only ever played a Saturn a handful of times. Really want to check it out, but am totally not spending any money on it. What's the best way to go about emulating this system? It's my understanding that Saturn emulation is total shit. Any /vr/troopers know something google doesn't?

SSF works with almost everything and is still updated semi-frequently, but gets a lot of hate for having a bit of a clunky interface, not having built-in iso loading and being Windows only. Just grab Alcohol/DaemonTools/VirtualCloneDrive or whatever and you'll be all set pretty much.
Every other current Saturn emulator is shit. Ignore anyone who recommends Yabause.
>Any /vr/troopers know something google doesn't?
>what is reading the sticky
Fuck's sake, here comes the fucking spoonfeeding, open wide

Saturn emulation being shit is a terrible meme that won't die. If you have a windows machine and aren't completely computer illiterate SSF works perfectly fine.
SSF might be a little awkward and requires you to use a third party disc mounter but when you get it to work, the emulation...

Thanks for taking me to school, boys.
How does /vr/ feel about Jetpack?
Loved creating my own levels.
>>3253349
Couple of friends and I released a level set in like 2009 or something, but I don't think anyone ever played it aside from us. Oh well. My levels sucked anyway.

Lunar Pool (NES)
Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend (Genesis)
How old are you and what do you play? I don't have much interaction with younger people so it makes me wonder how they feel about old games.
My first consoles were Mega Drive 2 and SNES and I would consider some of their games worth playing, still easy on the eyes and everything.
But shit from before my time? Asteroids and Pacman and such? I wouldn't bother with those.
So I wonder if that's how the younger set would see something fairly accessible like Super Mario World 1+2.
I'm 9 and I like that old game with the bricks what was its name again
Can you be more specific
A buddy of mine has a kid who's 6 and plays Mario 1. He likes it but hates that there is no butt slam move.
He plays it better than he does newer games.
I miss Sarge.

I find it amusing that that one lady soldier is not green like the rest of them and looks like Laura Croft as drawn my a devientart member.

Are you saying women can't be soldiers? You sexist fuck.

I never owned this game as a kid and I just recently played it. I don't understand all the hate for it. The only part that sucked for the game was beaver bother.
Yeah, the levels were a bit confusing but after playing around them enough, you got to know them.
The hate comes from the ridiculous amount of padding and how you basically have to play the same levels five times each if you want everything. The color-coded items restrict gameplay and make traversing levels a chore more than fun.
The game is not without its endearing charm though.
People are impatient.
Way too much stuff to collect, it's all color coded so you have to play through the level five times over, the levels are more poorly-designed than those in BK, and it lags like hell.
I remember loving the shit out of that game. Like that was one of my favorite games, I just thought it was the fucking bomb diggity, but at the same time I was also like 10 when I played it.
Does it actually hold up? Is it at all as good as I remember it? Because I've heard a lot of people on the Internet call it unplayable shit.
I don't like it, but if you like it, I have nothing against you.
>>3245193
I like it. The only bad parts are the cutscenes, and I guess Big.
It feels a lot like classic sonic but 3D more so than any other game besides I guess generations.
Though that is a bit to its detriment, I still like it.
ABSOLUTE WORST MUSIC GO
i post this one often because it scared the fuck out of me as a kid.

Which ultima is your favorite?
I use to like 7 the most but the mindless combat is no challenge on repeat playthrus.
6 is best, especially since Nuvie engine exists
I prefer 6 over 7 as well but I don't think 6 has a large replay value.
My personal favorite is Underworld 2.
The quest chain of Ultima 7 kind of holds me back a little.
The Master System version of Ultima 4 is maybe the truest console port the series has ever had. Which is nice. Though a true shame about the console versions of the Ultima series is they have superior graphics and gameplay mechanics, yet lack the actual RPG depth.
>>3241705
Ultima 4 will always be my favorite, followed by 5 and 7. Ultima Underworld 1&2 and Martian Dreams are also high on my favorites.
Has an online personality ever affected your opinion on retro videogames, /vr/?
No. Take it to the containment thread, faggot.

It 404'd.
Reminder that James is based as fuck and the cuck meme became completely out of date the moment he uploaded that ghostbusters video.

Pic not related. Should have posted the GBA version.
>>3236350
No, the GBA version is better. It plays a hell of a lot smoother. The SNES version is unplayable with how choppy it is.
sonic 1 gba
Has anyone here ever played
>Croc: Legend of the Gobbos
>Claw
or
>Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
I played Croc when it was released
A big pile of steaming fucking wank. Not fun at all. Not a well designed.
Bad in every single way
I loved the spanish dub of Claw
>traga plomo!
>>3258118
I played claw as a kid.
Probably my first and favorite game.
I've heard that MM1-3 have two sets of character art. One rougher, and a later refined drawings. Does anyone have them? They are said to be part of the legacy collection.
>>3257431
I have them.
>>3257431
I think they might be in legacy collection actually... I'll check my 3DS and let you know.
