what are the best Megadrive/Genesis games that get right to the point and don't screw around
I don't want to explore or backtrack or pick things off of menus or read mission briefings
That's... Arcade, right?
That's what we call it, right? Arcade-like games?

I love Mystic Defender. Also check out Revenge of Shinobi and Ghostbusters. Typical top-tier games that fit your criteria are Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier and (less so, but I'm working on it for myself) Alisia Dragoon
I'm not much for collecting (yet) but why isn't rewriting shovelware carts the prevailing strategy? Seems like the Shatterhand and Rockman x Forte problems could be solved pretty easily that way.
Repros. They don't rewrite, though, they throw away the rom chip and reuse the plastic casing.
Also megaman and bass was rereleased on gba in case you don't know.
>>3256554
Is rewriting that prohibitively difficult? Or are boards that cheap?
Why don't these TOSEC roms run in my Android emulators? Yes, I've unzipped them.

Also, Android emulation general.

Just use no intro for everything and use a header injector for the nes roms.
Been playing Kyuukaku Megami Tensei on my phone recently. Good times.
I don't use it much, but I bought pic related. I don't like the stick d-pad thing, and the angle locks a little sharper than I would like, but for $10 or whatever I can't complain. Probably going to upgrade to one of them with a proper 360-style layout to play PS1 games better.
So far the remake seems to take place in a very generic looking city filled only with shades of Grey. And Cloud's sword seems to have gotten bigger and shinier for some reason.
These lame Biker-Dad glasses trigger me more than anything they will do in the remake.
It's not even about the glasses, its the style they chose for the glasses. Fucking japs.

>sunglasses at night
>makign him Blade instead of Mr. T

thats beacuse the FF7 remake IS a modern game to be released on the PS4.
>see sticky post for rules
You know that feeling that comes over you when you great track comes on that you haven't heard in so long? You get goosebumps and something inside of you stirs.
Try to limit it to a single song, though multiple songs are not off limits.
Mine is fairly unoriginal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hWwMZ8yn_I

You are better than this, /vr/
When do you consider an infinite looping game as "beaten"?
I'm thinking of giving myself 12 hours of gameplay. Whatever I scored after that time I consider my personal best.

When I get tired of playing it.

When levels begin to loop.
A flawed masterpiece, and I'm still amazed that it fit on 2 floppies. Please share your best memories, strategies and bugs that hindered one of the greatest space exploration games of all time. Its like the daggerfall of space sims!
im more of an Escape Velocity guy
is this the game you are referring to OP?
is it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frontier:_Elite_II
did they fix its hinderances in the sequel?

Sometimes I run the game on my Dos computer with MT-32 music.

I'm just now getting back into multiplayer doom after ~2009 or so. Wondering what are some good wads/flags for coop?
I think what I'd really like is something like chillax coop, but with a custom ruleset. Something like, add a 10 second cooldown respawn time for players, and if no players are alive, then monsters win, go to next map. Any wads that do anything like this?
So how many of you freaked out and thought the police were coming when you first saw this?
>>3254940
FUCK the Police.
I honestly don't remember, shit would crash all the time back in the day.
Pokemon Red or Blue?
I just got blue at a thrift store, so blue.
>>3254905
I can't remember anymore, thought it was Blue even though red was always my favorite color
I had a level 85 blastoise I remember though
Gold
It's 89 degrees today, A.C. just died, and my allergies are making me feel like I've been hit by a car. I'd like to play some games and relax, but I can't seem to make up my mind.
I'd like to play something turn-based ideally, as I seem to have all the processing power of a casio wristwatch right now, but i'm way open to suggestions and such.
Also, a retro games/systems in anime/manga, because...i don't really know, but i have a lot of it for some reason.
Thanks.
When you played Metroid for the first time, were you doing any mapping on paper, or taking notes? I have yet to play through this game, and refuse to look at the maps or guides available online.
I didn't get to play it when it was current and I'm kind of wondering how kids back then played it
Yes I made maps as I went, but only after playing the game for a while.
Yeah, I made maps too. Just keep in mind that some areas of the game, like Kraid's hideout, use a looping series of screens.
At least I think so; does that sound right to you guys?
>>3254428
>I didn't get to play it when it was current and I'm kind of wondering how kids back then played it
Fun Club News/Nintendo Power and the Official Nintendo Players Guide had maps. on top of those, we'd make our own and discuss game strategies with other kids.
Hey /vr/. What are some NES and SNES that contain tons of hiragana? I need something to practice with. Thanks in advance.
why not learn a useful language like chinese or russian?
Most RPGs.
Try the Mother games, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy.
>>3254261
>or russian
You can even play first two Sakura Wars games ;^)
