I fucking love Hard Corps.
Tell me about the Wonderswan. Only thing I know about it is that it was fairly popular in Japan.
Is it worth the import?
Please respond
>>3258894
I have a few. It's a nice handheld and very cheap (usually). Don't overpay, but you might pay a premium for shipping out of JP.
Be VERY careful when buying games for it. I would say 95% of the games on it are completely unplayable to people who don't speak Japanese fluently. It's easy to get fooled by a game with an English title and then you get it and it's not even a game, it's a visual novel fully in Japanese. Emulate before you commit to buying.
There's a black...

>Is it worth the import?
Wouldn't know. I bought all mine for ¥100 at the local flea market.
Good machine with some fun games though.
This isn't very good.
Your opinion is wrong and you're a faggot.
>>3257751
Stupid and wrong contrarian opinions belong on /v/.
I think it's a rather good game that made some clunky choices in level design and flow that prevented it from being a great game.
Wish Raven did a 3 in the early 2000s. Considering how modern gaming is I don't want the Hexen series revisited at this point.
When I was looking at the back of one of my PlayStation games I noticed a most curious phenomena. What do you make of it anons? Have you ever seen it on the backs of some of your PlayStation games?
Nope, never seen that before.
Maybe these Digital Eclipse Software were a bit confused about the unofficial name given to the PlayStation by several magazines at the time.

Have you ever finished Super Mario Bros without using warps, cheats, or save states? If so, what did you think of it?
Yes, I did.
It's a fun game. 8-3 is pretty hard.

Not missing out on much.
I have. Great game, especially for its time, but World 8 is a real bitch. The bullet bills in World 5 (or was it World 6?) are really annoying.
Opinions on the Jumping Flash series?
The PlayStation 3D platformer choice of the patrician.
Got it randomly from a cousin throwing out his old games during the PS2 era. Started out thinking it was pretty easy and wound up very surprised by the depth the game develops in some of its later stages.
It was really awesome.
>>3256146
Was this the first console 3D platformer?
Post great renderings of our favorite retro games. Here is a classic from Yoshitaka Amano.
>>3256053
fun fact Yoji Shinkawa artist for metal gear was inspired by Yoshitaka Amano
>>3256085
He was also inspired by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's manga "Arion", which he claimed his distinctive shading style was inspired by.
What are you thoughts on these establishments? They seem to be gaining tracking in larger US cities. Do you frequent one? Is there something that would make you go to one or something you hate about barcades in general?
I've got some buddies who are convinced that a barcade would be a legitimate money maker in this day and age. More specifically, a retro barcade with retro standup cabinets.
I know it's not exactly a new idea and I have a hard time believing the ones that are thriving are doing so off the retro gaming scene. Something tells me the successful...

They'd definitely have to lean towards newer generations and casual just-passing-by players who maybe aren't even that into video games to have a fighting chance. Even then, in a world with mobile phones, it's questionable. Maybe a net cafe could work. There's no way these things are gonna be packed with 20-40+ year old gamers all the time. Would you even commit to going to one routinely many times a week as a person who loves these things yourself? Think about that.
If I had to place a bet,...

I love em man we have a few in my city. As a kid I always dreamed of being able to just cram $5 bill after $5 bill into those coin machines, cause you know back then that seemed like a million bucks worth of quarters. Now I can still do that, and have a few cold ones. Anyway that's my thoughts. The Barcades here are very mixed crowd, not just 1 social group, also males/females. Girls get drunk and go nuts on that that Pacman 4 person Battle royal thing. I'm sure it all just depends on location man. I personally...

Is it okay to talk the entire Wipeout series here?
I don't really wanna ask the shithole that is /v/ and I'm interested in getting into it.
I'm F-Zero fan basically forever and love futuristic racers in general. But I was a Nintendo kid, and I never really had the opportunity to try Wipeout.
So basically: Which ones can you recommend? I have a N64 and PS2 (the only two systems I own that had Wipeouts, but I could emulate the rest).
F-Zero Fanboys can please keep quiet. I already love F-Zero and played all of them. This thread is for Wipeout.
enjoy your f-zero thread

Just buy one of each (ps1 and n64) versions.

let me fix this for you OP.
First of all, basically every game in the retro "old trilogy" is worth playing. 1 is worth playing just to see how it started, but the game itself is a bit clunky. 2097 and 3 improve massively.
2097 is the fan favorite, you can't go wrong starting there.
3 is also loved, but there are two versions that fans dispute over. The regular edition has 8 tracks, but the...

Let's have a fun thread for once.
Any "stolen" music from retro games you know based on real songs? Call them homages if you must.

What's your problem with it? It's all the games in one package with extra options.
Let's talk about Diablo

Whenever in doubt, level up dexterity.
I've been on the fence about reinstalling Diablo 2 and trying out the Median XL mod. Either that or give Torchlight 2 a try.
It's been a few years since my last D2 play through and I'm getting the itch.

Good god, the memories I have of that game.
While the graphics were dogshit, split-screen coop with a buddy while you both played Warriors was legitimately some of the most fun you could have with a PS1.

The same snot nosed 90s kids who almost killed pinball playing Mortal Kombat and consoles, are now helping it make a comeback. So ironic and joyful hah
>>3196478
Snot nosed 90s kid(87) who played MK here. I think you mean 80s kid who killed pinball. I(or people my age) barely had any money to spend on gaming let alone any arcades to spend it at.
This any good? Arcade near me has a machine
It's kinda clunky coompared to later marvel titles but it's fun, for single-player the AI is pretty shit though, you have to exploit it to get further.
How many quarters do you have? How high is your tolerance for "mad"? This is the only game disc I've physically broken in half in a fit of rage.

A retro place that should be made a museum to visit irl?
I think the RE1 mansion hall would be awesome.
Semi-related but I always thought they should've made a theme park or water-park based on a classic platformer like SMB3 or SM World.
Castle from Mario 64.
The RPD from RE2
