MAME can overclock any system it emulates. This includes the SNES, which nothing else can overclock, and the genesis, which very few systems oc. In the test videos posted, there does not seem to be any errors. But theoretically 200% OC should break these games. Very interesting.
Also even at 200%, Gradius III still has massive slowdown.
>>3265378
I completed ECCO the Dolphin in MESS overclocked. No noticeable problems, all slowdown removed (not that it had a lot of slowdown despite being written in C).

According to this, with snes oc fucked it up.
Why didn't Konami put Gradius III on a more fitting console, like the Mega Drive? It would've probably had less slowdown.
Has /vr/ ever played this game? It's really overlooked, and I haven't heard anybody talk about it.
Not like other "unknown gems" people mention all the time such as Blast Corps, SSSV, Body Harvest, or Mischief Makers
It's the closest thing the N64 has to Half Life, so it's more linear and scripted than Turok 1 or 2 but therefore impossible to get lost. Not too challenging either, and there are some secrets.
I didn't even know there was a Turok 3.

Underrated as fuck, the whole atmosphere of the game is really awesome.
aside from being very unfinished and buggy it's pretty good
What is the story with the Castlevania fishmen? Do they just spend their lives jumping out of the water and shoot balls around? Do they have a civilization or culture? Is there a possibility that they're nice, but some asshole with a whip starts mass killing so diplomacy goes out the window?
>>3264335
they have literally nothing better to do
They probably were fucking up merchants and what not in the Mediterranean before that. You know, evil fishman stuff.
>>3264335
Pretty much everything in Castlevania is just a manifestation of chaos and evil in various forms, with those shapes changing from century to century. They aren't the "real deal", more like a replica that exists to impede the vampire hunters. Genuinely unique entities are quite rare.
What's the overall most visually impressive game on the NES?
I recently played MM5 and 6 for the first time in ages and had forgotten how much better they look than the other MM games. Any stuff out there that tops them?
Little Samson
Kirby's Adventure
SMB3
Batman Return of the Joker
I like Felix The Cat.
There is some good background in the game.
BATMAN
Meets and greets /vr/, I'm looking for some RPGS with elements of Hindu and/or Middle Eastern mythology in them. I don't mind WRPG or JRPG games either. I know right off the bat we can scratch off Final Fantasy and the SaGa games.
Really appreciate it and I'm very curious if some WRPGs have what I'm looking for.
Thanks!
bumping of interest
Megaten has everything.
XZR/Exile
Al-Qadim: The Genie's Curse

fuck off cunt
also lost souls of tong nou?
Thoughts?
according to the reviews it's a bad port
>>3263418
>DotEmu garbage
>Fightcade has better netcode
nah
>>3263418
I'll stick with the original or Touhou 9.
Reminder that the only RPG on the N64 is better than any on the PSX.
Love that game.
Still not sure why there is a surge of "my favorite game is the best, my opinion is objective" threads
>>3262583
If you think that's the only rpg on the N64 then you probably don't know many PS1 rpgs either.
>>3262609
You're right, OP forgot Quest 64. That's a whole other RPG!
Name a better game.
Wow oh my god like I just can even omg like you're such a fucking nintendrone crash is better you FUCKING IDIOT like how can someone be such a fucking ten year old lmao
Like just stop, it's embarrassing seeing a snot nosed shit like you not agree with adults like myself. Your games are for babies lmao they need to be edgy and dark and twisted just like me >:)

Daggerfall.
streets of rage 2
What are some /vr/ games that are bursting with style? As an example of what I mean, a game like Okami that has such good art direction and personality it stands out and is unique. What are some /vr/ equivalents?
Comix Zone - comic books
Splatterhouse - 80s horror movie
OutRun - having a gf and a car and going outside
REZ - being high af
They all nail a certain kind of feel
That and any game with a vector display

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out does it for me. If Castlevania didn't have such a weird color palette it would fit. Someone just mentioned OutRun which is a good choice. Spyro. Arguably Star Fox 64 depending on who you ask. Donkey Kong Country. River City Ransom pulled me in despite the fact that I didn't enjoy it much outside of aesthetics/setting. Maybe there's some others but I'd be here all day.
>>3261270
Abe's Oddysee has a very nice dieselpunk style going on, and Legend of Mana is absolutely beautiful to look at
All hail the game that started everything.
>>3260546
I've been thinking about playing it, but I don't even know where to begin. I keep ending up back in the tavern with no party. Should I use a guide and go for it?
>>3260563
Playing that game without graph paper seems to defeat the purpose
>>3260563
Don't use a guide.
Just make a party and amend it when you find flaws.
Even if you have to rebuild a new team from scratch you have your personal experience to build upon.
Let'ssharesome fond shareware memories; I used to play pic related all the time back then, but never actually got the full version
Pictuerd is Skunny: Save Our Pizzas.
First ever "game" I bought, turns out it was nothing more than a shareware sold at a computer store.
Game ended couple of levels into the game, which left everyone puzzles to the point my father called the customer service asking how t o advance the game
>>3260313
I thought shareware went away because everyone and their mother figured out how to crack them really quickly. I don't think I played shareware other than to see if it was worth going on the warez channels on AIM to find a crack. Usually we didn't even need that. One member of our little nerd crew was so dedicated to cracking games that he never actually played. Just distributed them to the rest of us. Of course, we're all working mediocre jobs and playing games, and he's a VP in a company that writes...

Naw brug, shareware went away because the internet made it easier for companies to distribute demos and take orders from a centralized location.
Anyone else play this? It's a pretty great turn based puzzle game, and I think it still has an active community of mapmakers.
Fuck yes!
I just tried making a thread about it on /v/ yesterday, but it died.
The games should hit steam soon, perhaps they'll gain a bit of popularity then. DROD is the only game I ever played where I actually felt smarter after going through the levels, like I actually learnt some new way to think.
Wasn't there an RPG version of this game?
But I never found a download.
>>3260116
Yep, there's DROD RPG. You can find it on caravel games' website ortorrent
>It is written.. Only Link can defeat Ganon.
Did the prophecy literally say this or was it a summary?
>>3258097
It was just written somewhere, it means nothing.
>Only Link can defeat Ganon
>Zelda defeats Ganon in Wand of Gamelon
What's your favorite Bonk game, /vr/?
2 and Super I guess?
Super Bonk is the only one I've played.
I beat the NES version last weekend, and I have a PC Engine coming in the mail, what do you all suggest? I really liked the NES version, and I know it's heavily gimped, so I imagine I would enjoy the others.
The simple fact of the matter is that the Playstation was ultimately the cause of Mega Man going to shit.
As decent as X4 was, you can't deny that it was a sharp decline from the SNES trilogy and the series continued to decline from there. Even the classic series went to hell with 8, only for it to return to form with R&F back on the SNES.
>>3256821
lets blame the playstation for capcom sucking?
no, the problem is capcom.
Agreed, except the downard spiral started with 7 on SNES.
we would have been better off if they had followed sony's advise and just made a 3D game
