Only 5 of them couldn't be ported back to gen 1 games.
Seriously, Sudo, Unown, Lugia. Ho-oh and Egg are the only sprites that belong to gen 2 pokes.
I am pretty damn sure they added more gen 1 pokemon sprites than that.

I'm halfway through season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbenderpls no spoiland it's fucking good. I thought it was some dumb Pokémon-tier tripe but I gave it a go and if you haven't watched it yet, you must.
Anyway, this show makes me so fucking sad at how shit Pokémon is.
Avatar's premise is so simple, yet its storyline is complex, so many different characters with different back stories and many layers of personality and good plot twists, and ambitious animation where the characters actually battle and use their powers in every single episode...

Pokemon is so shit because there is too much filler
The two major differences are that
1. Avatar had a planned end. Point A and B. They could develop characters as much as they wanted as they know that there is an end point. And gives a sense of closure.
2. Pokemon Anime is fillwd with fillers because there is a quota to meet for advertisement not story driven.

There is literally no lore to pokemon.
It's a fucking mess. They shoehorn in 14 fucking legendaries every game and never release some of them until years after they were coded. Sometimes they completely fuck up and release them a generation or two later.
The entire plot is horseshit for every game. There is no consistency. There is nothing beyond the single file of each game.
They seem similar likely because gamefreak is lazy and has this shitty cartoon illustrator for all their games now.
Stop caring. It comes out in November. You can be disappointed...

Also I did not see any of the final evos. I only got to see the second evo for Rowlet.
