i saw mewtwo's shadow by a road where two enemy gyms were on either side. They were different colors and only the road separated them. There were two pokestops on each side too, i don't know if that has anything to do with it. I had to stand in the middle of the road to get his location but he fled after the first ball failed.

I don't know if other people have tried this before, but I have. Basically, you can only use Pokemon that have, or evolve into Pokemon that have, two types. The next Pokemon you catch has to match one of the previous's types. The 3rd has to match 2nd's type, but all 3 can't be the same.
So let's say you only use 4 Pokemon on your team. If your first Pokemon (doesn't have to be your starter) is Fire/Dark, then the 2nd can match either...
