staraptor is a good example of a normal / flying pokemon thanks to its stats and movepool, is immune to ghost type as a trade for the neutral resistence to fighting type
but at leats can use more stab attacks

Probably not.

Why? Because it's literally just a bigger Squirtle with ears. In fact, all the Kanto starter middle evolutions were pretty crap. The Pokemon barely changes when it evolves, it just grows a little and changes colour, with a few odd feature thrown on. I suppose Charmeleon is acceptable, but Ivysaur is just Bulbasaur with a flower.

Are you high? That's pretty damn normal for a middle evolution and it sure as hell wasn't only done in gen1
