Just the fact that they scrapped those horrible XY friends/rivals/retards and went back to the classic rival that starts the adventure with you and just wants to beat you makes me feel 1000x times better about Sun and Moon.
X and Y writing was so clunky and cheesy that I've literally seen kids roll their eyes at the game, and those retards were one of the main faults.
But that guy is the Bianca/Shauna of SM. He literally picks the weaker starter.
