What is the logic of allowing only 6v6 matches?

Matches are too short and boring.

They're devoid of any strategy. Mere class composition trumps skill 99% of the time.

The maps are nothing but chokepoints where 75% of the map is useless.

I have no doubt somewhere in the development cycle Blizzard did try and balance the game, only to find that asymmetrical character and map design was in the too hard basket. The result? Everything is overpowered and unbalanced. Maps which are fundamentally broken for attacks / defenders, Q abilities which one shot you, see through walls, make you invincible or just make some characters flat out better than others.

The game has basically zero room for personal skill advancement in an attempt to make it appeal to even the most casual of shitters who can get kills by simply pressing one button. It's a fucking horrible game. For those who enjoy it, more power to you, but for fucks sake please get better taste in video games.

Competitive overwatch already exists and has a meta. Team Comp depends on the map but king of the hill games everyone plays 2 Winston, 2 Tracer, and 2 Lucio. Winston and Lucio both have great passive survivability and mobility for holding the points until your team gets back, or getting back quickly. Tracers has an insanely high skill ceiling and her ultimate can wipe entire teams without any way to avoid it.

Your comp predictions are like an average open beta comp. They don't apply because most people don't know how to counter characters yet. At a competitive level players know how to deal with a lot of the gimmicky players that new players have trouble with.

I've seen a lot of Tracer, McCree, widow, genji, mercy, soldier 76, at the competitive level. In other words any character that allows you to outplay your opponent instead of relying on said gimmick character that will be countered when players catch on.

Mcree takes forever to charge it, and the "its high noon" audio queue makes it so anyone whos not retarded gets into cover, I've only been killed by it in a 1 v 1 where hes too lazy to aim and just ult me to insta kill which is a massive waste. Shields can block his shots easy and any form of cc will interupt him

Reaper's doesn't one shot and you can usually burst him down as a team before he fully channels if hes not flanking perfectly from behind, also fucked by shields and cc

hanzo's dragon is pretty bullshit but hes useless outside of ulting so its balanced that way

junkrat's tire is easily shot down, its even targeted by turrets

its the next big thing and its going to have longevity just because its a huge blizzard title with massive marketing and hype. its just going to become the game that I fall back on when theres nothing spectacular because I can get a party of friends and play and probably have fun and depending on how ranked games work I might even be able to satisfy that "competitive" itch I've had since I quit ranking for league.

it sucks that the skill floor is so fucking low, but I feel like I can find that one hero that can hard carry a team if mastered and have great fun dominating people.

Wrong. Anybody who lists Mei as a strong character is very obviously a low-level pub player. Mei's the equivalent of TF2's pyro. Kills only people who are not very experienced.

Actual tier list:
-Genji and Lucio
-Winston and Reinhart (Winston moving up and Rein down due to patch and meta changes)
-Bread and butter characters like Pharah, McCree, Tracer, Mercy
-Situational characters - Zenyatta, Widowmaker, Reaper, Junkrat
-Shit-tier characters - anybody who builds things or sits still in one place (bastion)

Most PL maps and some A/D have one main choke and flanks that basically just connect to the choke. If you compare it to maps in TF2, there is a huge difference.

If you can see the exit/entrance to a flank when you look at a choke, it's not really a flank, it's a little side route.

She is a very situational characters. She is very effective at defending a point. You just need to learn how to place your turrets because I get fucktons of kills with mine all the time.

Make sure you hide them well. Her guns firemodes aren't shit at all. Especially when you're getting support from your turrets. You should never be engaging somebody without the help of your turrets, that's the whole point of playing as her. She is not a character you can rush a point with, she is campy.

Yes. I will be returning MKX and GTAV since I never play them and getting Overwatch. It's fun as hell I won't lie, a lot of maps are awesome I think, pretty much every character is fun to play, designs are vibrant and nice looking, objectives are actually hella fun too. I'm much more excited about it than I ever thought I would be, I considered Battleborn but after learning it was made by Gearbox I realized how much I hate that fucking artstyle. It is butt ugly IMO. I can see myself playing overwatch consistently in the future so I'm pretty hyped for it. I hope Blizz plans on adding characters and maps down the line too.

Best part is it is a perfect "I'll play one or two after or before work" game.

The shield is the basic only reason to Symm - because it lets your team skirmish really well. (It's a shield, so regenning)

The turrets are shit tier, either don't bother or just spam three to try catch people out.

The gun is just shit. Orbs are how it goes. It does good damage at close range, but basically any enemy player who isn't a shitter / other support will outduel you every time. Pray for a 2v1 in your favour, that's nice.

I'm also struggling with her. But what I've found is that her secondary weapon is actually not the worst thing when you spam it on chokepoints. People tend to walk into it, and lose a bit of damage. Also, her primary weapon is surprisingly powerful, it increases its dps exponentially the longer you hold it on an enemy. If you commit, you can kill tanks with it, especially if you're getting help from your turrets. In my experience, the teleporter has actually been her weakest tool, because most teammates are too dumb to take advantage of it even after you tell them "TELEPORTER UP".

Clever turret placing can block a main or side entrance. You can put down 6 at once. People like to brush it off as nothing but it isn't especially if you use your primary fire too. On chokepoints and small capture points like in the chinese and japanese levels it is very strong. It just gives enough advantage for your team to obliterate the attackers before they do the same. If they get in, notice and shoot them they are instantly at disadvantage because they don't shoot your team. If they don't care they will be slow and at a health disadvantage.
Also use her alt fire (blue orb of holyshitwhydididie) to block tight spaces and help friendlies who are fighting someone in small spaces. Obviously enemies avoid it for most of the time but it forces them to move. On Hollywood I could regulary block the small security room on the left point constantly shooting orbs through the door. It forces the opposition towards the main entrance. See a teammate having trouble with a nimble character in a room? Send in a blue orb. Most of the time they don't even notice and get damaged or either escape or get in a corner.
She is support, not strong but if you aren't alone you can melt people with her primary fire because nobody cares about Symmetra.

That's not what I mean. When you have a teleporter you can switch characters to take advantage of them. For example let's say you are defending, and an area is being contested and it looks like you can lose it. Someone can switch their simbly ebin McGree or Reaper for an extra Mei or Reinhardt, or even the dwarf, to secure that area.

What I've never tested is whether the teleporter stays up after I change characters from Symmetra to one of those I mentioned, in which case I could do that job myself. But I don't imagine it stays up.

I'm more worried if this game will have more and sustaining player base in my region (Asia). It's kinda sad to play multiplayer games here, they're either dead or close to it, or nobody plays the game because it's too niche.

If Blizzard displays the number of players for my region about 1 month in, I may buy it. Other than that, I'm still on the fence about it because it's blizzard. Not to mention it might be one of those multiplayer games that wears out its novelty after 2-3 hours of play.

Again, what can't you comprehend about how defending Overwatch's content by using TF2 as an example is a useless endeavor? Overwatch has a MUCH larger workforce and more money put into it while TF2 was created by a smaller subsection of Valve, scrapped, and rebuilt multiple times. Sayigng that Overwatch has more content than TF2 did on release says nothing. This does not help your stance at all. It would be more apt to compare it to games with similar circumstances, budget, and workforce for your argument to hold any water. For example, EA shooters and even Activision.

Been playing it for hours every day with about 8 friends, still having a blast and its getting really fun now that I've explored a lot of the characters and gotten decent. Though playing with a full teams makes queue take forever and you get put against tryhards, so I stick to duoing with one of my friends. A lot of the characters can be really fun to play.

I'm going to hate it when this game comes out and I have to listen to a bunch of esports garbage everywhere. All I ever hear will be junk about some pro player making some fucking stupid play or have people leave matches because I picked a character that the pros don't pick because they're "garbage".

The map design alone is so far removed from what you'd find in a MOBA that I don't know how people seriously make this comparison. MOBAs are not defined solely by the "hero" aspect.

That the skill levels of each player have no bearing? Their ability to last hit, map awareness, correct skill build based on the state of the game, timing of rotations, use of jungle, timing and aiming of skills, awareness of the damage one can deal/take at any given moment, juking, skill combinations with other players, correct itemisation, the list goes on an on.

I would define a moba as an online multiplayer lobby based game in which a team of players selects from a list of characters which have the strategic depth of a single RTS hero unit and fight other players doing the same.

Thats the format. If anything, something like 'the vicory conditions are different' or 'maps dont work the same', is a sign that the genre is evolving out of its baby stage and exploring more what it can do with that fundamental set of mechanics.

Its like how early fps basically were full on deathmatches with items that spawned around the map, and you basically just went for the best kdr, or most kills, or something like that. Later fps had things like weapon buying and objective based gamplay. Both are still fps because they primarily have to do with your ability to use the various weapons in the game.

The problem with your argument is that mobas attract barely sentient masses, so anyone with basic video game competency is going to do a lot better than average at them.

You can break ones proficiency at a game down into 3 parts, i think.

The first is knowledge of the game. Knowing what to do in a situation. This is not skill, plenty of people can know what to do in a situation and still fail horribly when they try to do it.

The second is being able to recognize what the situation you are in actually is. This is something a lot of modern gamers lack, i blame voip and have a whole rant about that, but regardless, this is not a skill because it is not aquired the way a skill is aquired. You can not practice and get better at it, you are either a retard or not, probably a parent did not read to you enough as a child and you are just not so sharp.

The last is your ability to do a thing once you know what it is you aught to be doing. This is the only skill, because this is the only thing that is acquired the way a skill is acquired, through lots and lots of practice and repetition.

So then how you judge a games skill requirement is the following.

You take a situation within that game, any situation. Pick some very small minor task. You take two people, both of which know exactly what it is they need to do and exactly what the most optimal way to do it is.

You let one of them practice doing that for about an hour, and you let the other one practice doing that for ten thousand hours (which is the amount of time it takes to become an expert at a task, according to some book somebody wrote).

The degree of difference in the result between these two players, tells you how skill based your game is.

A map is just designed terribly if it's not intuitive how you have to walk to the fight. Of course this is fixed the moment you've played the map more than once, but it's just terrible map design.

It's especially confusing to get out of the base on the pyramid map if you're playing defense for the first time
