It's running on literally the same Uncharted engine they've been using since like 2006, so expect a lot of climbing and shooting gunmen and the zombie element being conspicuously underplayed because their engine can't into enemy AI that isn't a gunman. Instead of elaborate puzzles they rehash finding a forklift pallet or ladder over and over because fuck coming up with something original.
I mean it's not terrible by any stretch. If you enjoy Uncharted shootouts you'll probably enjoy it here, but it's not the flawless genre-defying masterpiece people hail it as. Also the online multiplayer was a little overwrought with the whole group survival shit, but the actual matches could be pretty fun.

Unless you're the kind of person who's sincerely amazed at the quality of Uncharted it won't do much for you. You'll have more fun if you play Dead Rising, Resident Evil 4 or Nier, those games each do The Last of Us' thing much better.
Dead Rising is probably the best handling of zombie survival I've seen in a video game, dealing with people is stressful, zombies aren't superpowered mutants but they're persistence is maddening and the story is genuinely pretty damn great if you can be bothered paying attention.
Resident Evil 4 is still the GOAT survival shooter with escort game. Everything gameplay-wise that The Last of Us does Resident Evil 4 does so much better. Combat in The Last of Us is braindead cover shooting with simple crafting to make looking in cupboards feel like good use of your time, unless you crank up the difficulty which turns the game into a retarded clumsy crapshoot. Resident Evil 4's handling of combat difficulty, item drops, escort rules, it's all so much better. You can't have well done difficulty in a game with hitscan enemies.
And Nier is probably the only game to ever get me to care even remotely about 'muh virtual child.' In The Last of Us I didn't care, Fallout 4 actively made me more antagonistic towards that little faggot Shaun every time he was brought up by the whining protagonist, but goddamn if Nier's protagonist trying to save his daughter wasn't the most compelling thing I've ever seen in a video game. And it actually does it by being a video game, it plays really well, no walking through hallways being talked at like all the other games acclaimed for their stories. Hope you like fishing though.
