tales of the abyss did something like this but it wasn't just the beginning.
Everything was wrapping up pretty nicely. You were left with a few questions which were pretty unimportant, all the baddies were dead or in jail. All of a sudden lol no big bad isn't dead and actually absorbed a magic god before he died and released all of his men from jail adding a extra 8-12 hours on to the game minus grinding and subquests.
Pissed me right off.
