Get this out of the way first.
>Ki Blast: When you attack watch your Ki bar. It'll start to fill up white quite fast, if you hit R1(Stance button) during this time you'll INSTANTLY get that amount of Ki back. If you get it perfect i.e. get all your stamina you used back, you do a Ki blast which gets rid of the dark flame patches that Yokia/Oni put down(Standing in these patches will severely reduce Ki recovery).

There are a couple of ways to do Ki pulse. Most common is to hit R1 after attacking. Either look for your Stamina bar refilling, or the particle effects around you: the former will change from red to light blue, the latter will gather around you, form a ring when it's fully charged.
You also gain Ki Surge when dodging in Low stance, and activating certain triangle moves with good timing (the multi-spear thrust, for example) can trigger it too.

Hoo boy. If you have any parries learned, it helps to use those. Ki Wave or whatever hits AoE and deals decent Ki damage. Just stay frosty, and learn to switch between Medium for blocking and Low for going fast.
Alternatively, use to bow if you can see the group for a ways away. Headshots are nearly always fatal against humans.

I am at the 2nd boss. The difficulty comes from frustration and somewhat bad mechanics, not difficulty at all, and the at times cheap enemies.

Fast attack, hit a few times then move, when you see you can hit one without the others coming at you switch to mid stances and hit them, leaving enough stamina to step back and keep doing this, could even swap to heavy and land an attack if youre feeling up to it. People are playing it like souls thats why you are having a hard time. For example I bet most of you didnt bother to use the bow because in DaS it is absolute shit unless you spec for it. There is a second shrine but you need to beat a ninja oni in the back of the level to get the key to access it.
There's a shortcut back to the first shrine if you go near the Pagoda.
Finished the demo, only buying katana skills. I haven't found the low stance to be particularly useful but I guess I could have used it for the faster enemies.
The best advice I can give is to pump your heart stat, especially if you aren't good at regaining stamina like me or just forget about it. The demo is completely doable without doing it even once.
Also bows and shurikens are your best friends.

Hated it at first because of how easy it is to die and how the game really doesn't tell you how to play at all, but now that I understand everything after hours of dying, am used to the combat, and have decent stuff I'm actually liking it. The level design is quite poor though and I think they need to scale back on how quickly stuff breaks, but I'm enjoying it enough that I may buy it. Oh, and fighting more than 1 guy at a time is frequently really unpleasant because of the camera and how most attacks work and the fact that there isn't a lot of open space to fight in.

Not at all. It's something new. Once you get the mechanics down its not that hard at all. Just like Dark Souls, just like Demon's Souls, hell just like Ninja Gaiden, it's extremely punishing at first but once you get the hang of it and everything clicks the game is challenging but not overly so. Hopefully in the full game. Only talisman's we get so far are a protective one that also cleanses underworld zones and a slow talisman. The spirit tree also can give you stuff to enchant your sword but meh. The protective talisman is pretty great for Nue.

That's just annoying an clunky though. If they want weapons to be disposable then they need a better way of cycling through them. Make it so you can immediate equip a weapon while picking it up, or immediately mark it as junk while picking it up, so you can sell all that with one button press at the shrine.
