Can we talk about this game for a second?

>autism deep mech customization
>deep online faction based multiplayer where wars take place for close to a week and decided by flashpoint engagements
>best controls the series has ever gotten, both heavy and light ACs feel and move realistically yet still feel like huge powerful mechs
>can program a squad of UNACs to deploy with you on operator mech missions
>insanely deep UNAC AI core customization based upon efficient chip programming
>UNACs level up by learning from mission files, it really feels like an adaptive AI system you have control over
>good balance of difficulty
>can customize territory and add defensive struts, MCs, tanks and other NPC troops

Why did this game have to fail? It was god tier mecha and one of the best AC games.
>>
>AI chip programming

That shit was retardedly deep, most normies will never have the desire to have a mecha simulator that deep
>>
Games like Armored Core never go beyond of being niche games. That and practically nonexistent marketing if I remember right.
>>
>>334666397
This actually. I agree it was an amazing and impressive mecha game but holy shit I just couldn't keep up with all the mechanics. I felt like a monkey in a the cockpit of a rocket shit and all I was doing was randomly hitting buttons.

I had fun with it for a while but it got to the point where I just wasn't getting good at the game and it was getting frustrating.

I'm not saying to make the game more casual or something. Maybe ease the player in better? Like, unlock features over time instead of making you try to comprehend massive swathes of stuff at once.

Or maybe I'm just an idiot, whatever.
>>
Got this game the day before my PS3 died.
>>
>>334666060
Ran at like 15 fps IIRC.
>>
It had too much of a focus on multiplayer features for me to be interested in it.
>>
>>334666060

ACV was so shit that I skipped Verdict Day. Even had friends to play with and it got old quick.
>>
>>334666060
That's feature creep out the ass.

But realistically because Mecha/mech games have never been in with the normie crowd.

As much as we bitched at Titanfall for it, they had the right approach. More people ended up playing that than VD, and I guarantee you despite being won over through it, half the Souls fanbase doesn't even know From does games that AREN'T Souls games.
>>
>>334667364
Play the game again, it's so rewarding if you actually figure the shit out, it's legit the best Mecha game ever made.

Two reasons really

>ACV was shit
>A large amount of the fanbase doesn't want to do multiplayer

It is one of the strongest games in the series though, shame about it's performance
>>
It had to fail everyone in fromsoft knew that they needed to create DS 2 to cash in on the sucess of the first one ACVD was seen as a side project most likely and not much money went into the making of it, that and the fail that was ACV didn't helped it either.

If the campaign would have gotten more love and better writers, if it had some better graphics and if they didn't made it online MP only would it have been so damn good but now can we only hope that they didn't give it up completely
>>
Because namco only wanted souls shit.
>>
What is the appeal of mecha games?

For me, I love the designs of all the robots. I also like picking and choosing parts to find what works for me, I love the level of customization. It's not like a JRPG where you just choose the sword with the best stats, all the different bits of gear mean something.

AC was good with this, since everything affected everything else. Your weight, your balance, your fuel consumption... and that would affect other things too.

Pouring over my designs and trying to work out what works best for me was one of the most fun things about AC4A for me, my first AC game.
>>
It's easily the best mecha game we've had in a LONG time.

Which is a problem, since it's a mecha game, which is way too complicated for the average person.

On a related note, the Japanese servers were still VERY alive for a good two years after the North American one went pretty dark.
>>
>tfw I bought this game and the three other Armored Core games that were released on PS3 not even two weeks ago.

Fuck off faggot

If this game and other good AC titles like Silent Line, Last Raven or 4A were ported to PC, would PCfats even buy them? I don't care if porting the series brings in more money and more interest.
>>
>>334670392
Its still alive on JP faggot and that community has been going at it for years. It wouldn't last a day on PC.

half the Souls fanbase has probably never even heard of Kingsfield
>>
Wanted to get it but it was too multiplayer focused. I really enjoyed Armored core: Master of Arena because of both the arena and mission parts.
Wanted to get into IV but it sanic fast. Enjoyed the demo for Armored Core V but when I heard it was multiplayer focused I just didn't bother.

Which PS2 Armored Core comes closest to Master of Arena? With dual stick controls is a plus.
>>
>>334671364
A fair argument.

Then again I don't think they release those games here anymore, do they?

I do too, but to me they aren't AC games. They're ACE games with AC customization.

I really loved this game.

Shame it cant move to pc, itd flourish. Picking up all the super autismo battletech players
>>
>>334670392
Multiplayer centric games don't survive long on PC either, unless they're F2P or early access survival games
>>
>>334672173

Battletech stopped being good when they stopped stealing mechs from Dougram and Kawamori art.

Eh sorta, I mean they didn't steal it on purpose. They thought they had acquired the rights to use the mechs when in actuality they didn't. And it's not like they changed anything or made them more "american", they were 100% the exact same as they were in the anime down to the last bolts on the plating.

It's a joke on this promo by the Titanfall devs where they said the titans aren't mechs because to them mech = only mechwarrior and clunky battletech machines. Which is hilarious since as people here have said, battletech outright took all their designs from anime where the machines are super manueverable.
