Let's have a Persona 4 thread, I just beat it.
If I knew the game would just end right after you beat the last dungeon even if you did it ahead of schedule, I would have spent that time maxing out a few more social links.
Yukiko was the best girl btw,besides NanakoI thought it was going to be Chie before I played though.
Also for discussion's sake I guess, I thought the ending was kinda weak.

Yeah, also I wish p4g was not on vita only. Your right, with the game ending so abruptly, but the problem with p4g is, they add in more content, but some if it is pretty fucking bad.
Also, I played p4 immediately after playing p3, and I have to say, just the basic improvements to the game were pretty good, especially since they came out within two years of each other, though asset recycling is a big thing that triggered my autism.

I was kinda looking forward to Persona 4 since everyone seems to love it. Well, there's a lot of people who hate it too, so I guess I should say since so many people seem to love it. I liked Persona 1 and both Persona 2s, but 3... So far it's not doing it for me. I liked it at first, but I'm on July 28th right now and it's just gotten dull. I like going through Tartarus well enough, but I'm not really into the social links. I've only done a handful so far though, Kenji, Student Council president, some of Chihiro's, some of the Hierophant and the Hermit's. Kinda wish I'd gone with P3P since I played a little bit of it last night and like everything about the battle system a lot more, though the lack of cutscenes would bother me I think, even if they were pretty simple stuff you might find in a PSX game.
Did I just hit a dull period? Is this just not the game for me? If I give up on Persona 3, I don't think I'll play Persona 4, it sounds like it's more of the same. Perhaps Persona 5 will be more interesting, I hear they're bringing demons and the melee/ranged weapon system back, as well as having some platforming and stealthing.

Persona 3 and 4 are pretty much based around doing the social sim aspects in addition to the normal JRPG stuff, and as such are pretty important aspects of the game. If you don't enjoy it then you might not like the rest of 3 or 4. I would say that you should try to push on in P3 and maybe you'll start to enjoy it, but it might just not be your kind of game.

I've never heard much of the English voice, I've just played 1-2 and like, nearly half of three in Nip so far. I got curious and loaded up a random scene on Youtube from the English version and hearing Mitsuru immediately made me regret my decision. Same thing happened when I heard English Jessica in DQ VIII.
Can't speak for the localization though, I don't know what they're like, though I've heard that Yukari comes off as a real bitch in the English version. I'm not sure if that's why everyone hates her or if she does something stupid later (I'm betting she does), but there's nothing wrong with Nip Yukari. She doesn't seem like a bitch really except when she gets overly emotional.

Tempted to play P3P because it seems more fun from what little I've played. Only thing I'm worried about is the VN style cutscenes, I've already played part of FES and have gotten used to them. Good timing, I just finished P4G yesterday, got the "True Ending"
There's still something I don't understand. So, there's multiple bad endings and the accomplice ending, then three good endings. Normal ending, True ending, and Golden Ending if you maxed out Marie's social link. What's the difference between the True Ending and the Golden Ending? Is the Golden Ending a 'more true' or 'more perfect' ending than the True Ending? Because that sounds kinda dumb.
I wishAdachiwas a more interesting villain. I guess I got all hyped up for him from spoilers on the internet and was underwhelmed when I fought and defeated him.
I think the bad endings are actually done really well. The dialogue in the hospital is done in a way that's kind of a pain in the ass, but the actual endings themselves are good at conveying the feeling of being almost normal but with something clearly off. Arena.
Each character has 2 hours long story mode with very few fights in between. Labrys' story mode is 2 hours of text and one fight at the very end. It's solid. Not good, not shit, just ok. It ends on a cliff hanger though and Ultimax has definitely the worst story out of all spin offs.
Then probably P4D, probably the strongest story-wise but the story mode is like 5-6 hours long. PQ doesn't have that much story and it focuses mainly on gameplay with some fluff every now and then, it's pretty good though.

I'm the opposite. Currently playing FES just for the lulz after I finished P3P. Cutscenes and no point and click style is neat-o but it feels slow going from places to places especially without that fast travel feature on the P3P.
Also agreed on P3P+FES release for the Vita. I'm still pondering if I should buy Vita just for P4G but if they do release a P3P+FES version I won't even hesitate to get one.

Has anyone here played the Japanese and English versions of Persona 3 and 4? How are the localizations? I already know a bit about the quality of the earlier games' localizations, but not 3 and 4's.
