western games are either made to emulate american blockbusters, increase the self-importance of american players/devs, make the traditional game model more accessible to Joe Idiot, or do something out-of-the-box with it (which 9 times out of ten is more in the box then a foreign game taking itself completely seriously).
So no, it's normal to not like these games. especially since its hard to find any devs nowadays that dont bow down to either the almighty dollar, or the almighty like button. and the process behind these people making the games is in a sweatshop for the former, and an apartment above a vape shop for the latter.
It took me buying the newest consoles and playing all these supposed great games to remember how much I miss japanese games. but more and more Im seeing the jap games market become the jap cartoons market and it makes me sad because there isnt a solid ground for video games to move to. were just gonna get shit jrpgs and button mashers full of pandering that only have to sell 10k to break even.

Western AAA is by and large pretty fucked, but don't ever lose hope, there's always a small handful of western devs, typically indie or small company, that put out actually good games. They may not always be to the extremely impressive scale as western AAA games, but a lot of folks need to learn...
...there's nothing wrong with that. A B or C game can sometimes be just as fun if not moreso than the mainstream big name big bucks AAA games.
90% of everything is shit. AAA only got a decent name because there was once a time where it went as low as 65%, but it can't stay that way forever.
Look outside your comfort zone for shit you wouldn't normally touch.
Maybe check out a few of these while you're at it. I fucking love Remar's games. They're not typically all that long or all that complicated but they leave a very strong impression.

The top four of the list are my top recommendations, with Iji and Hero Core being the toppest of the top. Iji is a little clunky at first but you get used to it and it eventually starts to feel like a 2D Deus Ex, complete with replay value for different endings and a shit tonne of secrets and sequence breaking. Hero Core is way more retro than most retro games, like fucking Atari retro, yet it is one of the very few TRULY 10/10 games I've ever experienced.

The witcher 3 is really an accomplishment on dialogue and facial expression in video games, but i did not enjoy it, the gameplay was bland and the plot a little on the "bad" side. If we are talking about RPGs, i like grand and philosophical plots and fun gameplay, the only western game with something like this is Planescape:Torment and the gameplay is not what i can call good or "fun".

Have you played Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines? it has its flaws, but this is the one game I'm constantly returning to at least once in a couple of years.
EYE: Divine Cybermancy is another flawed (probably more so than vtmb) game with a certain charm that attracts a small but loyal following.
