Way too long, battles are incredibly slow paced, boring bullshit filled story.
The -only- FF games worth a damn are:

>MAYBE the FF4 DS remake because it has some interesting changes to customization

>FF10 MAYBE
>FF12
Basically anything with a job system is good. Materia and Junction are fun enough to use while not falling into the job system. 2 is actually unique.
It was my first final fantasy. And will always be my favorite, even if it isnt the best.

I have played and enjoyed a number of FF games. I have tried 3 times to play ff9, and every time I just get bored. Don't care about the story, don't care about the characters, battles are not challenging, nothing engrossing about menu/character sheet stuff, the card game sucks. I don't really have any specific criticism other than I just think it's a dull game. and it's not because i was too old for FF games by that point because 10 was actually one of my favorites.

I always hate when people use the "w-well you just have ADHD/love CoD/etc" argument, it's so nonsensical. Obviously if they were able to play other Final Fantasies with ATB they have plenty of patience. The difference is that IX is objectively slower than VII and VIII, the load times are longer (pre-battle and for animations), the meter takes longer to fill even at the highest speed setting, etc. FFIX came at the end of the Playstation's lifespan and it shows, the system limitations were too much.

It was my first Final Fantasy and I loved the crap out of it. Then I have retroactively been discovering shit in the older games that fascinates me. I think IV is my favorite of the older games.

No statement, no further advertisements, nothing. I just hope this means that they're actually grabbing the HD assets from somewhere. Because the mobile port, holy fuck, those new models don't go very well with the low res backgrounds.
On PC you'd have to deliberately play the game at a low res, just to counter that effect as much as possible.
