I'm at the very last part of 2033. Can someone give me any good reason to not nuke the shit out of the Dark Ones in the first game? Brain damage is there way of saying "hello" and had I not played last light (which im going to replay) I wouldn't think it worth sparing them in the first place. So guys is there a reason? also hope they make a 3rd game the series is comfy as fuck

Anon what the fuck are you on about.
First of all, Metro 2034 is a book and it was never adapted into a videogame.
Metro 2033 is also a book and it got a videogame adaptation in form of the game under same title.
The book ended on nuking them, that's the actual ending in the book.
The game strays A LOT from the source material (and like 50% of the material from the book got cut from the game entirely) and added secret "good" ending, but that was never canon since the book always ended on nuking them.
Then you have Metro Last Light which is a completely OC donut steel material not based on any book and is a sequel to Metro 2033 game taking place after the canon book ending which is nuking them.
And Metro 2035 book came out last year which is the author of the books basically saying fuck you to Last Light.

For starters, Artyom is already married to Anna before the book even starts.
He's not a Ranger, he's an ex-Ranger drunk that lives on WOGN and irradiates himself every day with insane doses as penitence for nuking the niggers.
The plot is different and so on.

I really enjoyed 2033. It can sort of drone on in a couple places and the author likes to bring up theology and religion as common themes. This could come off as forced to some people but it's not so common that it overtakes the whole book. It's a lot more slow burning than the game but that's better for a book anyway. It's a grim, hopeless, tense telling of artyoms months of wandering the metro to deliver a message. Probably on of my favorite books.

2034 is about Hunter and new MC called Homer, it has nothing to do with Artyom.
2035 is about Artyom and Homer. It's much better than LL.

LL was pretty damn garbage in terms of writing but I didn't like how 2033 game butchered the source material either.
They're solid on rail shooters but they're absolute garbage in terms of adapting the source material.
