If you're doing the overhead serve at the beginning, just press X around when your girl is as high in the air as she can get. If the ball is just about to come down when you hit X, it's too late and you'll just smack the net.

Another tip... press the O button if you can catch the ball when it goes back to your side, and stay near the net. That way, your teammate can bounce it back to you and you can do a spike.
If your teammate bounces the ball over to you, get near the net and press the Square button. This will keep the ball near the net, and they can spike it without the ball bouncing off the net.
If you are about to spike, and one of the opponents is getting ready to block, press O so that you do a feint instead of a spike.

Although people are better than me I know some easy ways just by learning over the years. Some people though can pretty much gift an entire costume catalogue to a number of girls throughout a vacation rather than just one like me.
Simple steps to winning in this game:
1.Pick easy winnable fights (Hanoka and Marie) This iteration is easier than the others as it just tells you
2.Gift girls correct items, that list has all their fav colours too. Gift these during morning or at night, remember food is spoilable after two day cycles.
3.NEVER gift girls swimsuits at night, always gift your girl after she has three red music notes.
4. Start gifting swimsuits cheap to get her loveness up, 10k+ first and gradually build up.
5. You can gift pretty much any swimsuit as long as their shit is up, apparently there is this silver wrapper that you use to gift expensive suits in owner mode but I personally never used it.
6. never play minigames unless you don't want to gift swimsuits or be time efficient.
If you are shit at volleyball you can still savescum in Casino and look up the gifting. Thing is girls reject gifts at low loveness so that might not be a good option, seems volleyball wins is easiest method to get more loveness.

i can also upload some easy moves in volleyball that can score you some easy points.
The volleyball is heavy focused on the left side of the field. So pretty much try to aim perfect spikes to there, you always pretty much want to stay near the net to counter blockers as mid perfect spikes can still be fucked over by blockers.
If you are close to the net you just aim the joystick and jolt it upper left while lightly tapping it to not spike, do this while the girl blocks and you get an easy point.
Take note of positioning and play accordingly. hardest thing to do in this game is blocking enemy perfect spikes which quite frankly can be impossible at times because they knock your ass down and the other bitch perfect spikes while your dumbass ai does nothing.
You will often times find that you are the sole member that can "guarentee" to earn points as the early ai is fucking bad.

So how is the gameplay? Is the grindy gameplay frustrating and awful as the originals?
If this game gives me more headaches than boners, it failed to do its job.
It's not about guessing the timing. The instructions say at the highest point when you're in the air is when you hit the hardest so smack the ball with X and hold it down for a good amount time. Over time, you'll pick it up. The game itself is very, very easy. I rarely lose a game. It feels easier than DoAX1 and DoAX2 and the AI is shittier too.
And DoAX1's gameplay is still superior in the end, even if this game is an exact copy-pasta. The strength of your hits were determine on the Xbox controller's pressure sensitive buttons which meant the harder you squeezed, the harder you hit. It also made the pool hopping game much funner.
If you look up the old FAQ's, each girl has different stats too. Some girls are stronger than others, can spike better, can block better, etc. Different girls make better teams. Tina in DoAX1, for example, was the strongest and had the best spikes. Of course, Hayashit sucks and didn't fucking expand on this or the gameplay at all and just copy-pasta'd the code.
