That the "developed for PC only" is a big fat lie.
Nothing they did makes it less optimally playable on console, the only thing that is missing is dedicated controller support, and I bet it has that from launch as well.
It is still a console game, and lacks a lot of the complexity of the old games, but has tons of abstract boardgame mechanics to make it less shallow. hacking an alarm box or a mechtrooper somehow keeps the doomsday at bay?
You have to research how to put people into a plane until it has reached max capacity?
You can only put a trigger OR a scope on a gun but not both, unless the gun is made from better materials or more advanced?
Carry one one-use item only, unless you authorized your people to carry two?

This is still the same garbage they put into it to make it sell on console, which has major problems with inventory management of more than 4 things.

UFO Defense depth aside, I only wish that they made the maps larger. I hated how small they were. They've already fixed in the sequel the way you had to trigger warn and spawn your enemies on the battlefield so I'm fine with that. I made peace with the changes in nuXCOM and enjoy it for what it is.

Base invasions are almost definitely going to be a disappointment compared to original xcom. They'll probably just be a slightly expanded version of EU's one-off mission using an "XCOM" tileset for the procedural generation, rather than making it so that you have to consider the layout of your base from the standpoint of defending it.

The vast majority of maps in XCOM2 are procedurally randomized. EU and EW had mostly premade maps with, a few of them having a few bits and bobs randomized like the layout of rooms and whatnot.

I'd be surprised if there weren't at least a few totally premade maps.

I'm already super disappointed that each class is locked to their own weapon. My favorite 2nd wave options were randomized skills and stats because you end up with more unique soldiers and losing them actually matters.
Sure customization is better this time around but it's going to be hard to care about losing a ranger when my others are nearly identical.

With all the stuff they have shown to be honest I'm scared it will all be really shallow. That they went really wide but didn't add any depth to it so most of the enemies will bee seen once like a slide show and never seen again because to keep "balance" there is only one big bad a map and they have to keep shuffling forward.

I'm also a little tense for the mods. With so much hype for them I'm expecting something like a "mod pass" where "You can download any 5 mods for just 1.99usd! To get updates for those mods or new ones just buy another Mod Pass!"

Instant game over. Avenger Defense missions make it sound like they'd gain easy access to the power coils, and with the original codes they can lock it down permanently.

Considering you'll hear about Battleships being redirected to the area in order to bombard the shit out of the Avenger, it's a guaranteed insta-lose. I wish in some harder versions this shit is for real and you have an active countdown until battleships show up and maybe a few extra turns after that before the Avenger is out right blasted to pieces.

Okay, maybe it wasn't 40:60 but anyone who played EU and then played EW can confirm that there was a huge increase in the amount of female soldiers you get.

I did the starting mission alone about 100 times in EW alone, and there were always at least 2 female squad members, usually even 3. Maybe once in 10 restrats did I get 3 males 1 female.

In case you're wondering, I always restarted at least 10-20 times whenever I made a new run because I wanted to get the good nationalities (especially French, so I could set them to speak French, I love the French female and the French male voices in EW), instead of the shitty ones (African/South American trash - Spanish voices were absolutely unbearable to listen to). I know you can set the voices for any nationality to anything, but it just doesn't seem normal to hear a BR speak French.

That's again, because you were not a very good player. Since it's a lot harder to care about some nationalities than others, being forced to use said nationalities makes me more likely to risk their lives and that makes it inderictly harder to play on impossible.

In your language, the "deep seethed institutionalized racism" makes me play worse when I have soldiers with nationalities that I am unsympathetic to. When you're playing on Ironman Impossible and trying to get 0 losses, every little detail about everything matters.

It's just mathematics, really, same as in MOBA games like Dota 2. Playing with Peruvian/Russian players automatically makes me (and many others) worse because of the "unjustified racial prejudice" felt towards them and it makes us tilt, at least a little bit, even if we try our hardest not to. That's anyone would prefer to play not with Peruvians/Russians, if they could get equal skilled tolerable nationality teammates instead.

I got so angry at XCOM that I got convinced the games percentages were fucked and started recording every event on paper.

I'm not a statistician, so I don't know how many data points I needed to be legit, but over three playthroughs, my numbers were pretty shit. The total of all chances between 75% and 85% hit about 68% of the time on average. All of the 25% shots I took landed about 12% of the time. It was illuminating. It also made me less angry because once I realized I was getting hosed, I just ticked the numbers down in my head, and adjusted play accordingly.

In particular I noticed his 40-45% range spiked high. In my own study, I noticed that my ~45% shots hit at about 55% of the time.

So he can say that the RNG is within the bounds of being correct all he wants, but if shots listed at 45% consistently hit at 55% in numerous studies, that should affect your playstyle. Much in the same way 25% shots hitting less than 20% of the time should.

In short - it's not truly random. Your chance to hit / miss depends on your previous hits / misses.

The more you hit, the more you're likely to miss.

The more you miss, the moer you're likely to hit.

Perfect example:

You have two soldiers, one has a 90% chance to hit the alien, the other has 100%. Which one should go first?

Answer:

ALWAYS the 90% one. Because 100% is going to hit no matter what. But the fact that you hit still decreases the 90% guy's chance to hit.

This literally happened to me once, I got too cocky and took the 100% shot first and yep, the 90% guy missed as a result. Reload -> 90% guy shoots first, he hits.
