What went right?
Probably fucking everything, considering it's the best game on the planet according to Gamefaqs.
fun twist on turn based gameplay, as it manages to achive more player input despite simplifying an RPG battle system, similar to Mario and Luigi RPGs. Most bosses and nice shifts to the game play and all enemies attack at once and have rather unique attacks.
The writing is subjectively great, though objectively extremely meta and fitting of the medium.
Moral system adds a simple yet unique twist that helps the player feel his actions are accounted for and NPCs are properly reacting to his actions, as well as causing three routes each with surprising endings and great moments.
Music is GOAT

I agree with this.

Music......that is all
I'm a sucker for good music.

The music ranged from okay to pretty good
The graphics ranged from bad to okay, even for RPG-maker things.
The gameplay ranged from okay to pretty good
The morality system ranged from okay to pretty good
The story ranged from okay to pretty good
The characters ranged from okay to pretty good
A literal 7/10 try-it-out labelled as a 10/10 GOAT cause it's consistently okay or pretty good.
This game would have wow literally everyone based on player agency alone, despite the slog that the genocide route is, if It wouldn't have been hyped up so fucking much.
Its a good game that does a lot of things right but its not the second coming.
Hype is the game killer.

>That unexpected swing in the music
>Saving the lost souls
>RAINBOW GOAT FIGHT
Bitch, I'm going to save the shit out of you.
>>323385327
I'm going to remember that fight for a very long time, take that as you will.
>>323383743
a good game with charismatic and unique characters that got the attention of the internet
even contrarians contribute by talking about it all the time
the memes
>>323383743
It's literally a flawless masterpiece
I would ask for a sequel but I don't know if Toby can make magic happen twice

>sequel
isn't he doing that undertail game? I heard he's disguising himself.
>>323383743
Undyne made me like anime tropes
>>323383743
Pretty much everything except for the pacing in Hotlands
It made me feel...happy? Is that the word?
/v/ has become so jaded and contrarian that they reject the very things that drew them to video games in the first place.
>>323386697
It made me feel happy and sad, often at the same time. Like, seeing Asriel get his closure and come to terms with what he'd gone through was happy, but knowing his fate was sad.
And Omega Flowey and the True Lab were a bit creepy, too. That was a plus.

Themes and atmosphere were established very well.
Lots of room for interpretations.
Gameplay twists are good.
Adding in the weight of actions in an RPG setting.
While the art style is lazy, constantly clashing, the concept of its design is what's going to keep it having its own identity. I wish this game was in a traditional pixel style like that of SNES RPGs. Either that, or that one dude's PS1 low poly graphic style.
Nicely executed twists that surprise the player, mainly meta wise.

Just one big happy family.

Why would you do this
>>323387256
FUCK YOU CHARA
>>323387246
Speaking of, why's everyone always hung up on the 'You're going to have a bad time'
I mean yeah, I know it was said in south park but goddamn. When Sans said it, it was clearly a threat, not some goofy shout out to south park.
>>323387256
Chara did nothing wrong.
>>323383743
A focus on quirky characters, cheap tearjerker drama and shout-outs to the internet generation
>>323383743
You did, at the beginning of the game.

Not gamefaqs, tumblr raiders. Admin already confirmed it would have lost every single round by a large margin if not for outsider votes.
