>have close to 170 or so mods that I have installed minimum any time I play, including a mod that re-implements classes, birthsigns, and racial perks
>game is so shit that having too many texture mods results in everlong saves, random CTDs upon changing cells, and endless save corruptions
>despite there being loads of fixes within SKSE and ENBboost to help address these issues, there is still no true workaround for any of these, and the only thing you can do is either not install any texture mods, or cope with having to CTRL ALT DEL and close the game every other load screen, or restart the game every 10 minutes while exploring, while F5'ing like a mad man.

Fucking sucks. As shit as SKyrim is, with mods it's actually enjoyable, but you can't enjoy it because it buckles under the weight of any significant amount of mods.

There was a very lengthy project going on that was trying to do a overhaul pack like for Oblivion and Morrowind, but even through all the tuning and fixes they applied to the base game, it still couldn't mend all the crashes and issues that come up after mods begin being added in.

Not sure if any progress has been made, honestly. It moved pretty quick and then just slowed to a crawl.

I've seen people with 250 or so over on /tesg/ on /vg/.

I use just under 70 or so, and my game is hardly stable. I can't even imagine how unstable their games are.

Then again, it's /tesg/ and they mostly just post their waifus and shit. I only ever pop in for the links to find new mods or fixes.

Morrowind Overhaul 3 has well over 100 mods packed into it, and runs perfectly fine, with the occasional dirty hiccup here or there, but it's otherwise very clean.

Skyrim was just such a huge mess programming-wise that from the day it launched to the day the last patch was sent out, the community had to help apply endless fixes and engine workarounds for things that were done very haphazardly.

It's impressive the game was even released. One modder I knew said it was like looking at something running on nothing but duct tape and sticks, with tons of dirt and grime clogging everything up.

They don't even clean their own game file sFFS. People have to do it themselves through TES5edit, and the amount of things that get cleansed out is astonishing.

The game is pretty shitty overall. Boring empty world, boring NPCs, boring quests, boring leveling system, boring towns, boring landscapes, boring everything. It might not be "literally 0/10" but it is still below mediocre. Skyrim popularity only partially influenced my opinion, I played the game half a year after release and I remember thinking to myself "this is supposed to be GOTY?", and at the time I was a pleb that was impressed by Assassins Creed 2.

I downloaded a pre-moded version recently with 250+ mods including porn content and while it makes the game a little bit more interesting at it's core the game remains deeply flawed, no mod can fix that terrible combat for example.

It's tough, the most script heavy things I can think of are

>Skyrim Immersive Creatures
>Character Creation Overhual (Mandatory for me)
>Odinator
>Vampire and Werewolf overhauls (I can probably remove)
>Duel (mandatory)
>Organised Bandits (can probably remove, but busts your save and causes headless T corpses to roam around bandit areas)
>Follower Framework (can probably remove, don't use followers)

Rest is just lots and lots of texture replacement packs and weapon / armor overhauls. Most are at 1k too because there's no reason to have shitloads of 2k / 4k textures fucking everywhere.

Skyrim is breddy gud because it's pretty much like a modular build-a-rpg game. The vanilla is awful though. I'd reckon it could actually be great if papyrus wasn't so shit, as a lot of fun mods are extremely script heavy - Hunterborn, Frostfall, Civil War etc. Currently I just run Ultimate Combat and Combat Evolved over about 150 immersive and lewd mods.

Everything is forced, unnatural and there is no option for a player to feel like it's a lived in world. I would try disabling the ones you could live without, start a new game, and see how much faster it runs. I used to load up on tons of mods like that, and would constantly be forcing the game to close because every other load screen would be infinite.

Also, disable some large texture mods (usually environment ones) and see if that doesn't speed things up. If so, just find a different lite version without all the crazy sizes and resolutions. Even the default high res packs Bethesda included cause issues.

Aside from not being able to build spells anymore, and the spells themselves being very thin in variety and not scaling properly with your Magicka and level, the system was a lot more interesting than Oblivion, and vastly more fun to play than MW.

Ever since modders figured out how to add parallax to texture packs, every Skyrim texture pack has been using it.

It's really annoying, and pretty difficult to find a texture pack that doesn't use it.

Only downside was Mysticism being removed along with everything in it, and Bethesda fucking up on spell power scaling.

I have 210 mods installed and graphics mods out the ass. It hardly ever crashes. People just don't understand mod compatibility, or know to stay away from certain mods like Warzones that will obviously make your game unstable. The major problem I have is that it stutters, which is unavoidable with HD textures and ENB. If you are still getting infinite loading, CTDs when changing cells (especially this), and save corruptions, even with ENBoost and Safety Load installed, then they are absolutely your fault and not the game's. I've been modding Bethesda games since 2006, modding Skyrim since it released, so I like to think I know what I'm talking about.

Mostly like to compare it to mine for the sake of seeing whats similar and what I should probably prune, and for the sake of stability.

I already clean my mods with TES5edit and use LOOT to manage my load order. I seem to just be having issues with CTDs and long as fuck load screens. My computer isn't even shit either.

It was still annoying as all shit in exchange of absolutely nothing.
In the end nothing was gained because there wasn't any spell combinations that made something interesting, you just choose between having a spell doing shit damage and a heal/ward/weapon in the other hand or having both hands using the same spell.

They are not messes compared to the older games. Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3, are messes. If you mod them, they crash all the fucking time, it's unavoidable. New Vegas was a mess on release but it was patched up to be very stable, which is why Tale of Two Wastelands exists which ports Fallout 3 to New Vegas' far more stable engine. Skyrim and Fallout 4 are also very stable, even more so than New Vegas. I have barely any stability issues with Skyrim that I didn't create. But my modded Morrowind crashes about an hour in every time because the game is fucking old and piling mods on it cripples performance. The games have come a long way in terms of stability. Also I played Fallout 4 about 35 hours before getting bored and it didn't crash once.
