"My cynicism is supported by historical precedence", meaning I am pessimistic because of past experience with Ubisoft and their games.
There is historical precedence to their games not living up to the trailer, being overall too safe and generic in terms of mechanics, and dying off quickly.
I haven't played For Honor yet, but I strongly believe it won't be good, due to my past experience with Ubisoft games, and there being no reason given to believe this one will be different and unorthodox.

I just look at it as the art of battle system with directional attacks and blocks, dodges, parries, feints, kicks, pushes, spikes, fire, ledges. I could care less that they're Vikings samurai and knights, they could be Jedi , droids, and storm troopers for all I care. The combat looks good and no archer/sniper fags to shit it up.
