season of ice/flame if you don't mind isometric fixed camera and samey tiled worlds, it's okay
>>345425248
You can try and 100% the sonic trilogy.
>Original trilogy
GOAT
>Enter the Dragonfly
Pretty shit
>A Hero's Tail
Good. The closest you'll get to the original trilogy
>The Legend of Spyro trilogy
1 was okay, 2 was less okay, 3 was bad
>Handhelds
All shit
How did they make the original feel so magical? It felt like you could never really find everything and understand the whole world. There's something about the shades and lighting, the shine on everything and all the little corners with hidden things you can find where you think you just can't go.
It's so fucking good.
I know literally everything there is to know about the PS1 Spyro series. Ask me anything.
Reminder that Spyro 1 & 2 speedruns are the most comfy speedruns.
>>345426618
Why is 1 so much better than 2 and 3?I think its because there were no side-characters or minigames
>>345425828
Anything besides the original trilogy is pretty shit, anon.
>>345426834
Not that guy but I agree. I'm >>345426050
and the side characters took away from the sense of mystery I had. They anchored you to the world a lot more. In 1 I felt like an alien crash landed on a different planet, just confused and curious about everything.

Which is the only version of Spyro 3 with the complete soundtrack?
A) NA original release
B) PAL original release
C) NA Greatest Hits edition
D) PAL Platnium edition

Disagreed, at least when it comes to the GBA games. They're different genre but overall pretty fun on their own and capture the spirit of the original trilogy very well.
Mind you I only played Season of Ice, not sure how Season of Flare and the third game which name is escaping me atm fare.
>>345427230
>Nothing but improve
No
>>345427230
Mah nigga
I feel like all the "muh sense of mystery" fags are people who didn't touch Spyro in a decade or more and don't realise it's just nostalgia blinding their judgement.
>>345427610
Sorry to hear you suck
>>345425828
Enter the Dragonfly was shit, but at least it's somewhat more bearable on Dolphin.

The third game became more of an adventure game where you'd have to travel back and forth between worlds finding items that let you progress further in other worlds.
It was kind of annoying.

Is Season of Flame worth picking up if I liked SoI? Sucks that I will probably never find a complete box for reasonable price, but...
>>345427973
As far as I can remember it was pretty much just more of the same, so it'd probably be fine.
>>345427823
Correct!
I'd post more, but for whatever reason, my progress for both Spyro 3 and 1 is gone, and I don't want to use the same game back to back.

Very good.
Without using the double jump glitch how many levels (including the hub) can you 100% complete before defeating Crush?
When pressing the L2 button which way does the camera turn (as in do you start seeing more to the left or right of Spyro)
What are the enemies called in Hurricos?
Do any of the Spyro games feature multiplayer? If so name and describe how it works.
What level does each start screen take place in?
What was the evil chef going to do with his second Orb before you saved all the turtles?
True or false. In all 3 Spyro games it's possible to skip all the levels in the final hub by having enough collectibles from prior worlds.
>>345427230
Spyro 1 has a level design that is very different from 2 and 3 so I can understand why people put it before the other two but 3 is a straight up upgrade from 2.
The only level from 2 & 3 that gave me the same vibe was Charmed Ridge from 3 but I absolutely cannot explain why.
>>345430069
If Charmed Ridge is the level with all the fairies, that level is very similar designwise to Spyro 1, so maybe that's why. Even the enemies function like various enemies from 1.
>>345430069
The skybox, terrain, the music and the wizard theme (Very much like the druids in 1) all probably seem quite familiar.
Also fairies.
Describe how you would bring back Spyro
>series reboot
>first three games take place in the same worlds the original games did, but with some slight changes
>new worlds in all the games
>more collectibles
>Fisher the Breezebuilder's dialog cannot be skipped
>story that connects the three games to tell a bigger story
>Cynderthink the fight from "a new beginning"is the boss for midnight mountains instead of the sorceress
>new final world "Twilight Plains"
>tfw you still have your original PS1 versions of the games
1 and 2 are in the left and 3 is in the right one. Shit is so old I have no idea why Year of the Dragon was in the Season of Ice case. I believe I still have the Ripto's Rage jewel case somewhere as well.
>>345431010
This sounds awful but I'll take a stab at it.
>Give Spyro a limited ability to fly, either through timed powerup gates like in 2/3 or limiting flight to certain regions. The ingame explanation for the latter can be some shit about prevailing winds or magic resonance or whatever.
>Each level is a mini-openworld with intricate fractal-esque geometry and mind-bending topology/gravity/etc. Think planetoids from SMG but much larger and more complex. The overall look/feel is supposed to be reminiscent of 1's vaguely drug-trip influenced aesthetic, like Dream Weavers turned to 11.
>Level design is more reminiscent of 1 in that the core gameplay is focused around spatial puzzles rather than minigames and themepark/"world tour" style levels. There can still be "islands" of minigame/more traditional platforming but they should unequivocally be side elements.
>Recurring NPCs that travel between worlds and have distinct personalities/arcs. Major side-characters should mostly be dragons. The idea is to make it feel like the worlds are actually connected and people regularly travel between them as was implied but never fully realized/demonstrated in the original games
>Spyro himself is older but not necessarily more edgy/"mature"
>>345429730
>Without using the double jump glitch how many levels (including the hub) can you 100% complete before defeating Crush?
Actually, you can 100 % complete all of the levels in Summer Forest without the double jump glitch. Only the hub world's ladder is off limits before Autumn Plains.
>>345433774
>Ladder in Glimmer
>Ladder in Sunny Beach
>>345434327
Ladder in Glimmer is ignorable by using the flight powerup from outside and going as fast as possible to the ledge, it's tricky but easily doable.
The one in Sunny Beach and the hub need to be backtracked to though.
>>345431010
I guess either go back to the tone of the origional or make a more serious story but take itself too seriously like the LoS series.
>>345432437
>Spyro himself is older but not necessarily more edgy/"mature"
Spyro was already old enough, between the ages of 17 -25 I guess, the spongebob age
>>345425828
I'll be honest, I unironically liked Dawn of the Dragon. The Co-Op was pretty baller.

Good job I guess BUT did you 100% them and get all the skill points?
>>345431010
- I'd recreate the graphical style of 1 with higher poly models and minimal additions in terms of modern lighting/texture effects
- a cohesive world design and aesthetic like in Spyro 1, no stock theme park worlds/levels
- Spyro 2 controls and the swimming and a less awkward downward headbutt mechanics, no fucking ladders
- Hire Copeland or failing that, the equivalent of Copeland
- gameplay focuses on non-linearity and exploration for trinkets that aren't taken from you by dickass bears and secondary trinkets that actually have a purpose of some kind rather than existing for unlock quotas
- replace speedways with free flight levels that have more vertical design and aerial hazards
- have a premise that isn't "Spyro doesn't want to be in this game but the assholes won't let him leave" (thanks a lot 2) and instead of NPCs that tell you to solve their problems for them except they don't even let you advance through the levels on your own, the player is allowed to play at their own pace without the game shitting up secondary motivations for every individual level

how do you remake spyro on PC controls
How do you make a 3d platformer on pc controls
>>345437278
Add controller support
>>345437278
Plug in a controller?
The original spyro games also didn't require an analog stick either so just a keyboard is probably fine as well even if the D-Pad control scheme was complete ass.
>>345437278
There are people who don't have some kind of a gamepad for their PC? What I have is a third party dualshock clone that cost 25 dollars, it just werks and I never even installed drivers.

>How to trigger /v/
Can we talk about how weird the story of Spyro 2 is?
Ripto did nothing wrong, in fact he didn't do anything at all except proclaim himself king and take up residence in a previously empty castle.
All the enemies you fight, all the problems in each of the worlds was an individual issue completly unrelated to Ripto. Avalar is a mess of dysfunctional micro-nations who seem to be either having internal disputes (Idols revolting in Idol Springs) or sometimes having an actual war (Breeze Harbour and Zephyr). Spyro isn't always doing the moral thing either, he helps two sides attack each other in a war, and other levels are dubious in who's in the right, like the Robot animal farms, they are smart enough to stage a rebellion but they get treated like farm animals.
Ripto isn't involved in any of this, and certainly isn't gaining anything from it, he declared himself king of a whole bunch of separatist and disagreeable states who already have thier own leader and with no way to enforce his rule. Not to mention varying wildly in privilege and technology. There are skyscraper cities existing while other civilisations live in dingy swamps or worship volcanoes.
The only person profiting from anything is Moneybags since he charges Spyro to continue helping people.
And who's to say Hunter is all he seems, he's the one who let Ripto into Avalar in the first place. Plus he has an awful lot of Orbs that he doesn't give up until Spyro either does his chores for him or indulges him in a dumb competition. Sketchy indeed. Plus he is very aphresensive about bringing a Dragon to Avalar.
>>345438162
yeah but riptos an asshole
>>345438162
It's not weird, it's annoying. 2 does a terrible job of setting up player motivation.
You collect gems, except you have to give them up to condescending fuck. You collect orbs to be able to leave Avalar (the orbs themselves have no value), but I don't even remember if you were told this before halfway through the game, and allied NPCs are actually holding orbs that they will only hand over in exchange for playing pointless games with them. You can't advance between worlds until you solve problems in individual levels that don't actually have anything to do with Ripto. And why does Spyro even need to defeat Ripto? Because the NPCs won't let him leave for Dragon Shores until he fixes a problem that doesn't affect him at all.
>>345437270
well I have tom kenny in mind as the definitive voice
>constant PS1 spyro threads on /v/ now
>>345438698
Still you have to admit getting souped up on orbs in the final fight against Ripto was pretty hype.
I played the hacked version of Spyro 3 as a kid. When Zoe full on broke the fourth wall and spoke to me, I got spooked as fuck.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA4DNHvm8ko
The game FUCKING DELETED MY SAVE when I got to the final boss.
Is there a perfectly hacked ROM out there?
