A lackluster story made even worse by a bad translation. Annoying movement on pre rendered backgrounds. Materia system is not that great. Tons of primitive QTEs and broken mini games. Characters and music are good though.

That actually looks like they're trying to make it seem even more explicit. Given the amount of cussing still in the game, I highly doubt it's censorship. Would like to see the scene in Japanese though to see what Cid says there. The Japanese version still had plenty of, for lack of a better term, swearing in it, but the English version actually added even more.

They did a lot of spicing up like this in the script. Like the part where Tifa told Barret to stop being retarded, in the Japanese version she just told him "Don't say that!" because he was creeping her out by making the atmosphere even more ominous.

That's what I've been doing for ten years, ever since I learned my lesson about hype. At worst, the game isn't that good, but it doesn't bother me much. At most, it's really fucking fun and it exceeding my expectations makes it even better. I still somehow ended up disappointed with MGS V though, and I went into that knowing very little ( I don't keep up with game news much anymore, I'll find out about games when I play them) and having very low expectations.

While I could go on about FF VII's translation for quite some time (trust me, there's more problems than the ones you usually hear fans talk about), it doesn't really drag down the story. There are parts I thought were probably poorly translated, like Cloud's dialogue when talking to Reno in the church, but it turns out, it was the same in the Japanese version.
